for anyone who has the slow alttab issue like he mentioned in the video its because the hz on your native and preset resolutions are different from your custom resolutions hz, for me the native hz was 165,003 but the custom resolution hz was 165,000 and that was causing the slow alt tab (even though it was such a small difference) so i just deleted my custom resolution and made a new one with the fixed hz TO FIX THE HZ 1: delete your previous custom res and start creating a new one 2: find the option called "standard" at the bottom half of the custom res creating tab 3: change that option to "manual" from "automatic" so that you can change the hz at bottom right side of the custom res creating tab and after changing the hz to the exact same hz as your native res hz you can finish creating the res and your good to go :) EDIT: you can check your desktop hz from your pc system settings which you can access from your windows key > gear icon > system > screen > advanced video settings > refresh rate
@@highlow8683 happy to help, also i found this out when i researched it some people said their desktop hz was 60 but theyre custom res hz was 144 so i checked mine and it was a .003 difference lol
how did you delete the custom resolution? the delete button does nothing on my end and the old custom resolution stays there unless i overwrite it with a new one (which didnt seem to work either).
Little late but you can set your original desktop res (1080p for me and in the video) right after creating the stretched one without opening the game first, also thanks for the video dude very appreciated !
yes thank you! some time after releasing this video i realised I couldve explained it all much better but thought it was a bit pointless to make a second video on the same topic to achieve basically the same thing, thanks for the comments though hopefully people find it helpful :) glad the vid helped u!!!
@@AleexTg in the firing range rn shootin beams w the r9 - also another “con” I found is if you wanna take screenshots you either gotta switch back to 1080p in game or windowed in stretched but it’s no big deal
Is there a stretched resolution inbetween the two? 2304x1440 looks amazing but I can't maintain consistent FPS. 1680x1050/1728x1080 maintains consistent FPS but looks bad. An inbetween res would be great but I'm not sure if it's possible. Thanks
in some of my videos (like this one) I have recorded gameplay at 120fps, interpolated (upscaled) the framerate to 240 then rendered in 60, this gives inbetween "blur" frames that give it a smoother perceived motion, 240hz would feel similar to how this video looks, hope thats a good explanation :)
sort of, its all down to preference really, a stretched res will make your targets appear bigger, but also appear to move slightly faster, as they do not actually slow down, whereas native would be smaller targets that move slower, best bet is to experiment and see which you prefer :) I havent gone back to native and personally enjoy using stretched more than native.
i did this a while ago and i had a problem where the game wasn't smooth as it is on 1680x1050 or native 1920x1080...it just feels like its on 60hz,btw i have 240fps lock...on custom res it saids 240hz but when i join in game it feels like 60hz..do you know what might be the prob?
@@TheMetalUnborn I do not mind the alt tab problem, my in game fps is 240 and in windows 240 also. Alt tab is fast enough. The problem is that if I switch to 16:10 from 16:9 , the image is not as sharp as native resolution intended, it is slightly blurry and I don't like this cost. Also DX12 creates stutters for me. Very visible, unplayable.
Hey so i want to use those custom resolution, but it gives me black bars to the left and right of my screen when i use it, Have you got any idea on how i can fix that?
Every single video I see does NVIDIA control panel but the display and change resolution option is never even there.. is it cause I’m on a gaming laptop rather than a PC?
i know im mad late but if i replicate these settings will i be gaming at a lower quality then my current 1440p monitor? if so is there a way to get the same results but on 1440?
@@BobBob-zs4to make sure that your monitor is plugged into your graphics card slot (hdmi, displayport etc) plugging it into the normal motherboard one I think will not show the option
@@BobBob-zs4to seems like it could be more than one issue, I found a forum post here that might be able to help you if my suggestion does not work for you: www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/155439/nvidia-control-panel-missing-options/
not really and i dont know what your monitors native resolution is, but you could try 1600x1080 and if that isnt stretched enough for you then reduce the amount of width on res and keep the height (1080)
ok so, i made a custom resolution "1728x1080" and set the refresh rate to 144hz. but in game i can only have 120hz with that resolution for some reason. i tried to get back to 1920x1080 and i got 144hz. i have an amd card though. maybe my monitor is limited?
i have no idea man, i dont think your monitor would be limited in that way though, 1728x1080 @ 144hz is less data then 1920x1080 @ 144hz so that doesn't make much sense to me, sorry I dont have a solution to your problem :/
You're probably an AMD user like me, and i saw that happen when i didn't had the GPU scaling turned on - fullscreen. That will unlock the full range of the monitor. No idea why it only works like that when you make a custom resolution. But if you're using AMD, please check if you got it enabled.
after you have the stretched res set in game you can switch back to native but keep apex stretched, or if you want faster alt tab speed in apex you need to keep the stretched res on desktop and then switch back to native for other games yeah
it will allow you to use this res in other games and will be the "native" resolution if you choose to use this res while playing them, however you can still use 1920x1080 or whatever your actual monitor native res is, just change it in the drop down and for faster alt tab match your desktop res with your game res :)
someone in the comments posted this: " ingame like everything worked in the nvidia control panel but not ingame but I found a fix to it so if you go to into your saved games file and find apex, you click on local and then videoconfig that's where you can edit the resolution and set the resolution that you want and then save and then exit the file to after right click on it press on properties and put it to read only. But I'm not sure if it works while having two different resolutions on like desktop to game so the safest option is to have your desktop resolution the resoloution that you want ingame "

interesting, i knew this was an option but i dont get why it didnt display in game when you change aspect ratio to 16:10, never had that problem myself
