Tinkering around with the REP PR-5000 V2 and I think I've come up with the most space efficient do it all half rack you could want. You can do all your main barbell movements, lat pull, low row, lever arms and even belt squat in this thing! Let's take a look.
Here are the basics to get you started
Crossmembers: bit.ly/2KGlcMS

I appreciate you so much was going to get the 30 inch rack but have decided due to small half side of garage to build this exact setup giving me more space. I have treadmill, Rogue battle bike and sauna on that side too so not too much room for rack this will be perfect and still give ALL exercises I want. I like the 1:1 vs 2:1 of athena as I lift somewhat heavy too and don't want to buy more plates!

Rep HR(Half-Rack)-5000 was a thing earlier last year...looks like it was discontinued but it has pull-up bars where you put the crossbar. I love mine, and appreciate the durability and function with minimum space. Plenty of space to workout but still park the truck and car. Can't attach the low/high pulley but I have a modified Titan Tall pulley that works even better. Plus I use the top of the rack for storage for farmers carries and axle bars. Something else is if you're into strongman or incorporating atlas stones into your workout, you can build a platform on the spotter arms and it's now height adjustable. Love the jammer arm mono-lift idea, might use that.

What I didnt' like about the HR5000 was that it was on skis and they used smaller hardware I believe.

@BasementBrandon

@@BUI3BA I don't believe it would work in that case. With the 16" ones, the stabilizer is right in the middle, so it makes it easy to flip around. With deeper crossmembers if attaching to the rear, the upper part of the lat plull down machine will not be able to mount on the upper crossmember.

clever! i’ve always wondered how it’d be to reverse the horizontal stabilizer bar for the lat pulldown. but don’t the front stabilizer arms defeat the point of having a smaller footprint since it still protrudes out? it may feel smaller bc you don’t have the front uprights, but in the end you still need the front real estate for the arms imo

This is fantastic, and I think I might actually go with this design. I have a very small space to put it, and bolting down is not an option. I'd love a full cage, but I'd rather have the option of adding the iso arms later, and need to leave clearance for those. I've mostly looked at Rep's Omni and Apollo racks, as they're designed not to be bolted - BUT - their bases and uprights are different from the PR5000V2, and I'd be locking myself out of the fancy stuff like the Ares or Athena. If I wanted to add those later, I'd have to toss or sell the bases and uprights and replace with PR5000V2 ones. So I've started looking at the PR5000V2 itself. It's the bolting issue that's giving me pause (especially since Rep says it should be bolted), but it seems you have a very safe setup even without bolting. I would be buying just the basics to start with (rack, feet, stabilizer, weight horns) but I would add the lat pulldown and the arms as soon as money allows.

Have you ever tried to adapt the Rep Lat Row Attachment to your Rogue Monster rack? I am contemplating giving it a go at some point if Rogue doesn't release the Monster weight stack soon. I've got the 90in RM6, so was thinking a small monster strip on top to allow the 93" Rep lat pulldown to fit there, then maybe moving the 24in bottom crossmembers up a bit to the height of where it would attach to the low pull brace and put a crossmember across there since the Rep stabilizer wouldn't fit right.

Nice Rack! For those with a lower budget you can Get the Titan Fitness T-3 Space Saving Rack, Extension, Lever Arms, etc for about half the price. I like having the half rack attached to the wall for the added stability. Not as nice of a finish as yours, but similar function at a much lower price point.
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon Год назад
The people who run Titan are dishonest and have shady business practices, I wouldn't give them my money to save a few bucks. That being said, I don't believe that rack allows you to have integrated rack storage, a cable lat pull down, or some of the other versatility features.
@bigdogkropp

My entire home gym cost me less than this rack. I have a commerical dual cable machine (bought used for $600), so don't need a cable on my rack. I built a vertical wall mounted plate storage rack out of a 2 x 4 and wood dowels. Functional and affordable. I like REP equipment, but you can get a functional rack for much less, which is the point I was making. Ever see the equipment at Westside Barbell? Nothing too fancy and they have had many, many powerlifters with world records come out of that gym. I reject the idea that you need fancy, expensive equipment to build muscle. Also, Lever Arms are a complete waste of money.

Hey, Brandon! Here’s a question for you - Do the benefits of the Rep Lat Pulldown (which are many, it’s the best if wanting to combine with a rack) outweigh the overall build and quality of the Rep rack and accessories when compared with Rogue’s racks and accessories? What’s your opinion?
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 3 года назад
I think the build of the actual rack is on par with Rogue. The attachments jsut aren't as nice, but you can very easily swap most of them if desired.

@@BasementBrandonlove the setup! Rep Fitness website states that stabilizer bar adds 27" to the rack depth. How much room/depth does flipping the stabilizer bar save? Or how much depth does the lat pulldown add with this set-up ? Either dimension would be useful.
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 3 года назад
@@lonka2184 The rear stabilizer doesn't take up that much space. I believe the 27" refers to if you have the lat pull down extension. For me in this set up the stabilizer fits between the two uprights, so flipping it one way or the other doesn't take up any additional space.
@lonka2184
@lonka2184 3 года назад
@@BasementBrandon Thank you for the reply. I had two more follow up questions: 1) If this rack were to be bolted down, would the front stabilizer legs still be necessary? 2) Let's say I wanted to do something similar but really wanted to have an actual pull-up bar, and didn't want to spend money on the jammer arms. Could I opt for 24" long cross members, buy the rep fitness Globe side-mount pull-up bar, bolt down the rack and skip the front stabilizer legs and jammer arms? Total depth would be (3"+27" = 30") without spotter arms or (24"+3" + 27" = 54") with spotter arms mounted. I could see potentially the rear posts being same depth as the lat pulldown sled may be inconvenient. Could you please comment on such a set up?
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 3 года назад
@@lonka2184 Yeah if bolting down the front feet become unnecessary. For the other question, I don't believe you'll have enough space to mount it unless you went even bigger that 24" (not even sure 30" would work). There are other options. You could use utility pins as handles, mount your j cups high and use a barbell as a pull up bar, etc..

So first of all I'd say if you're looking at this, REP now has better options that are based off this model and can get even more compact with some of their weight stack options (athena & ares). This one here is a bit deceiving b/c when you factor in the front feet and the space needed for the plate loaded pins in the back you're still prob looking at like 50-60"

Brandon, If you reversed the RBS with 30 inch crossmembers and have the selectorized lat pull down. 1. Would you be able to incline bench outside rack. 2. Have a pull up bar. 3. Have room for plate storage and 4. What would be the total length from back to front with the foot stabilizers? 72 inches? Thanks, your the man
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 2 года назад
I think with this set up it's hard to incline unless you have the jammers. Reversing the RBS doesn't give you any more room front to back, it just opens up upright mounting points. Pull Up bar with this set up would also be tough other than what I show due to no space.
@PJ-eh4uf
@PJ-eh4uf 3 года назад
@Basement Brandon 2 questions. 1) are you still using the lat bar that came with your pr5K? I've noticed you keep it in the lat hanger in your videos. 2) I have the pr4K and noticed that because of the clearance between the top pulley and the groove in the top support where the cable passes, any sort of movements that aren't totally vertical like a standing face pull would shred the cable against the groove. Have you experienced the same issue with your pr5K?
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 3 года назад
I use the standard bar for some stuff like pushdowns but otherwise use my MAG grip knockoffs. For the cable fraying, I haven't tried doing any movement that has caused that issue (but I use it for pretty standard stuff).
