It's my last day in #Tokyo and I'm going to eat at one of my favorite #ramen shops in Japan which I featured a video about on my main channel the Tomita Ramen. The wait is long about 4-5 hours but definitely worth my wait. During my wait, I went to try the new #Mcdonalds adult cream pies which were pretty interesting. Then I'm flying back to Seattle and took a short road trip to Vancouver.

Everytime he says he misses China, I feel so sad. Imagine having access to all the places in the world, travelling all over the globe but never being able to go back to your home town where you grew up. You can tell he's always drawn to foods that are similar in essence to his hometowns food, I hope that one day the situation in China becomes safe enough for him to be able to go back and eat all the food from his home town :)

Probably already addressed, but I looked up the meaning behind the "Adult Cream Pie" and it essentially comes from a loose translation of Otona no Cream Pie, which actually means, "Refined Palate Cream Pie" Adultaro = Adult, often in a more sexual sense or the adult entertainment industry Otona = Adult, but frequently in reference to less sweet, more complex flavors for pastries that adults would like more than children So, for anyone curious, there's your answer!

Damn, I wish I had Mike's life... He's basically travelling and having the time of his life everyday :,) He probably put in a lot of time and effort to get to where he is now, though. Usually, "adult/otona no *" food products in Japan means less sweet/more bitter (in the case of chocolate), or generally more sophisticated in flavor.

Hi Mike. Again, I implore you to visit Okinawa on your visit to Japan. Think Japan with a sprinkle of Hawaii. It is so unique and wonderful. The people, culture and especially the food. The ramen, tempura, okonomiyaki have their own uniqueness due to the ingredients that you can only get there. You really have to try the "Taco Rice".

I think for the ramen serving size, they recommend the small one for first timers so there's less waste in case the person can't finish the whole thing or (hopefully not) that it is not to their liking 🤔

dangmusings. no, it was the other way around. large were reserved for first timers, and small were for frequent buyers. most likely so that newcomers could get to enjoy some of their ramen instead of all the seats being taken up by ppl who've already had it.

We used to live near Canyon Park, and right after you get on 405 southbound is the most perfect view of the mountain framed by the trees. Days when the mountain was out were always perfect days. I'll remember that view forever. And stop making me homesick!

As someone who is living in Japan, I think it’s called the Adult pie because at the time (January) every year there’s a Coming of Age Ceremony going on when teens become 20 and turn into adults. For the burger based on its name I think what makes it different is the cheese slides are thicker I believe! Hope it helps!

Mike- if you wanna try some okay(by your standards) ramen in Seattle, try Hokkaido Santouka in University Village(I’d get the Torinikku Ramen in Kara Miso flavor) or Arashi Ramen near South Center (they have good sized portions)

That pretty shot on the freeway I like to call “the gulley”. it’s the only stretch of interstate 5 where it goes between to two mountains north of Seattle (south of the Canadian border). I’m glad that you chose to move the my neck of the woods.👍🏼

BTW, have you been to Toronto? You need a peameal bacon sandwich. You will love it. There is a place near the airport on the border of Brampton/Missasagua that is open 24 hours I believe, and frequented by the airport workers. I haven't been there in like 5 years, but of all the peameal bacon I ate in the Toronto area, it was the best. If you haven't been to Toronto, you should go. They say it's the New York of Canada, but it's probably closer to say it's a Canadian take on New York. It has some of the wonderful aspects of New York but in that wonderful Canadian way. It's probably my favorite city in North America after Seattle.

Mike i am in Eastern Canada and during summer we have an awesome real lobster sandwich on a toasted bun and thats about it specially until recently they offer this totally unreal and absolutely amazing donuts.Do not be decieved by their size because the carame one with the most to die for filling is super addictive..It is out of this world..Goes to show sometimes size dont matter...I hope you get to try cause you shall be hooked..Eastern Canada fan forever

Hi Mikey, love your vid as always! I think you gotta hit up Jakarta again, in particular, try going to Kelapa Gading. There's this awesome noodle dish (bakmie) here from a restaurant called Pangsit Mie Palu and I'm pretty sure it has a lot of the things you like. Crispy skinned pork, chewy noodles and crunchy fried dumplings.

Insomnia has come again and here I am watching another Mike Chen video making me so hungry!!!!! Flight suggestion: look into flying in and out of Vancouver next time. I’ve found more flights and better pricing. Safe travels!
