Hi I purchased a viper system for my 2013 ml63amg in 2020 and it works great, now looking for one for a 2017 e3004matic. Do you know which one is compatible??
I just need to lock , unlock the car doors and start or stop the engine so which one is good fkr me ? Also whagerver I e you recommend, is it one time payment or should I pay every hear for having the device active?
You should be fine with the Viper 1 way keyless entry option. It has everything you described at the lowest cost. At our store we charge a one time payment of $399 installed. The only device you would pay yearly for would be the Smart Start subscription fee if you chose to do everything from the app on your cell phone.
I have the 4806V model and want to set up the smart start app on my phone but am having troubles understanding the procedures. Do you have a video on how to do that?
We do not but if you are using a ds4 bypass module, the smart start module clips into it. If your system uses an older style bypass its a lot more steps.
I was interested in a Viper Remote System and used their website to try and get an authorized dealer in my area to install it. Each dealer that Viper was to put me in contact never made an effort to contact me. Viper then asked me if I wanted Viper to contact me directly about getting a system installed, never heard from Viper. Upon further research of actual customer and potential customer reviews that this seemed to be a typical issue with Viper, horrible customer service before and after the sale so buyer beware. Also Viper is also sold under the name Python. Do you own research before buying a remote start system with a company whose customer service by them and their authorized dealers is questionable.
We are sorry you had this experience. We take care of all the Chicagoland area and sometimes customers even come down from neighboring states. We can’t speak for other shops but we certainly reach out right away after an inquiry is made - it is apart of our daily work checklist. You are correct in pointing out that viper, python, avital, Clifford etc. are all in house remote starter brands under the umbrella of Directed Electronics (DEI) - the largest designer and marketer in North America of vehicle security and remote start systems. We are simply an authorized dealer and installer and we have been using viper products for many years. We would love to resolve your issue for you if you were near by. If not, we hope you get it resolved! Thanks for watching!
This is good info. Thanks for the heads up. If you don't mind, what company/product did you eventually go with, if not any of the viper family of products?
So can I go to a shop and get this install or should I install it myself? If I do go to a Shop to get it install where should I go get it install at what shop? I live in sac; it be nice to know where i can get some one to install this to my car.
So no alarm with remote start option? Dont need keyless entry since I dont have power locks and I wont be adding power locks, came across video looking for reviews of alarms with remote start feature.
Yes they have combo units available that are both remote start + alarm. The systems come with the keyless functions but even if you dont have power locks its purpose is to arm and disarm the vehicle. However you can get the Smart Start combo unit which works completely from your cell phone using an app - this way you wont need to have any remotes. Hope this helps!
Thank you for watching! Yes all of this information is still accurate today. The viper 5906v is a combo unit - meaning it has both remote start AND security system. The units shown in the video are simply remote starters only.
Any of these are great options for your vehicle it all depends on how far away you want to be able to start it from as well as if you want confirmation feedback on the remote. The viper Smart Start option that you use on your cell phone on the app is very popular because of the convenience of not having any extra physical key fobs, has confirmation, and also has unlimited range. Thank you Frank!
Do the new remote start crank the car then after you get in the car it shuts off? I’m asking because I had one installed yesterday and the guy said they make them different from the factory pus starts for safety..
hello love the video, do you know how to switch the Viper over to Automatic Transmission mode becuase I do have a manuel but to turn on the remote start I have to do so much steps just to do the remote start. I have the Viper 7756V Remote Control model.
What's best for a truck, looking for a unlock and lock and remote start? I had the led screen 2 way remote start and didn't use non of all the features.
It all depends on how much range distance/ functions you are looking for on the remote. All of these options shown here at our store vary from $349.99-$599.99 installed.
I would say the viper smart start system that you can do off of an app on your phone. This unit has unlimited range and can work from virtually anywhere as long as you have cell phone signal. This would eliminate the possible issue of having range hindered by parking underground. Otherwise any of the 2 way systems have 1 mile range. Hope this helps!
Well I noticed recently the suv had a remote start installed. Would it be cheaper since there was already one installed? And how much would it be for the one you recommended?
Link to viper alarm system that will go off if someone hits or tries breaking into my 97 Silverado. I’ve been looking because my truck has gotten broken into. So if you can please link a good quality viper alarm system that would be amazing!
Go to the viper website and they have a locater feature where you can find your nearest dealer. We have a lot of customers call us from them using that feature. Hope you find someone - February is the near the end of the cold season! If you were out this way we could do it as soon as today!
Im thinking about getting remote start for my 2018 Toyota Camry. Will i be able to use the factory key alarm after it's installed or will it no longer work?
Hey. Hope you can help. I’m looking for the best option to monitor AND control the temp inside my van. I’ll be hauling dogs around and I want to make sure it’s not too hot inside the vehicle. Can you help me?!
Well first thing i would consider doing is get a heat rejecting window tint for the windows on the van. We use 3M Crystalline here and it does wonders for keeping some of the heat out of the vehicle. Secondly i would say to either get the Viper smart start remote start system on the car to access it all from your phone at any distance, or a 2 way remote control unit would work well too. Having that would allow you to remote start the van each time you park or have to stop some where for a bit of time. That allows you to remote start the van running the air conditioning. you would just have to keep the settings in the van how you like it before exiting. hope that helps!
@@ztechwindowtint isn’t there a setting on one of the vipers that you can actually tell it how often to check the temp and if it gets hotter than whatever temp you want to keep the vehicle under it will start automatically?
Does the 4816V work with a 2019 Wrangler Manual transmission with push button? Also do they have plug and play harnesses? Or do they need to be hardwired
You mentioned at the end that the smart start comes with a basic remote. Two questions. With the smart start I can turn on my car from any distance? And if it comes with a remote then I don't need to buy another remote starter for it to work? Is there a membership fee to use the smart start?
Sorry for the late reply it must have gotten lost in within the others. Yes the smart start can be used from any distance as long as you have cell phone signal. Also you are correct you do not need to purchase another system if it comes with a remote. The new DS4 bypass modules allow you to pair remotes to it even if it has smart start. The only reason you would need to purchase a separate system would be if you were using an older style bypass such as a DB3. There is a yearly membership fee and usually only breaks down to a few bucks a month but its always changing due to promotions. Sometimes you can get the first year for free! Hope this helps!
I thought viper was the best and highest in technology? Can you explain the diesel start plz lol, if it’s a worm day out do I have to wait for the winter glow plug timer? Newer diesels take like 2 seconds to start winter time it takes 20 seconds to start, hmmm just saying man,
Yes the remote starter that works from your phone is done on the viper smart start app which is a free download. There is a yearly subscription fee of $70 per year which equals out to a few dollars a month. On the app you will have all the cool features such as unlimited range for starting, lock/unlock, trunk open, alarm, GPS option, etc.!
You guys are a little bit too far for me to drive but you seem like you really know your SHIT. I’m in Charleston South Carolina but travel to Atlanta for work where my vehicle and trailer was recently broken into. I want the best absolute best alarm system for my truck and an additional one for my trailer with cameras every fucking thing. Is there a place that you’re aware of down here that you could recommend?
We appreciate the kind words! We are sorry to hear about your situation. I dont know of any shops out there personally but you can use the dealer locator on the viper website to find the nearest to you. Hope this helps!
Yes they come with a user manual. However, you will need an authorized installer to install the products. They are compatible with that vehicle as well.
The smart start is awesome. Use it from your cellphone on an app so no extra fobs hanging from your key ring. Lock and unlock your car from your phone. Know the temperature in the car and how long its been running for. Unlimited range. Its the best!
Anyone know how much Amps Viper use from battery?? Without remote starter power consuption is about 0.04Amps, after Viper instalation battery drainage is about 0.56Amps - it's normal or they connected in wrong way? Viper is killing battery within one week when you don't use car.
All of them are great systems! It really comes down to your needs, if you generally are pretty close to the vehicle at all times, then the basic 1 way quarter mile works well from the house and closer ranges. If you work further away from the car, or typically are at places where you cant really see your vehicle from where you are starting it from the 2 way one mile range is very helpful to let you know it has started for you.
These specific models are remote starter only. You would need to buy a combo unit which would include remote starter + alarm. Viper makes great options for that and some have almost identical key fobs to what you see in the video.
Yes these systems can be used in that vehicle! However they may need some additional wiring or parts due to the complexity of german vehicles. Be sure to find a professional installer with experience! Hope this helps! Best of luck from USA!
Yes or any directed electronics remote start system. The bare minimum you would need is a bypass unit if you are connecting the smart start to a vehicle with "3x lock" compatible remote starting from the factory fob.
I got a question for you < I have installed in my truck an Avital 5303 alarm , Just recently it turns off below 50 degrees , when truck is warm alarm starts sounding as I drive , I press door unlock alarm turns off ,and I have no issues as long as car is warm ,I go to shop he says hit the cut off switch when car running and AC on to pull stronger load to rest . well he cuts everything off I cant get it to reset so I go back to store he checks with machine has power to it now he says its the brain ( to make money im sure ) , he unplugs wire from brain plugs it back in it starts to work with issues now I get a noise like a dying siren first then a chirp ( never happened before until he touched it ) and when I remotely start truck the alarm is sounding while the car is running I must turn car off and start by key . can you tell me what happened and if it can be fixed !
Yes of course it can be fixed! Our master tech seems to believe there is an issue with the ground. It is hard to diagnose something without seeing the work that has been done but I hope that helps. Also check the viper website to find other certified installers in your area!
Yes of course it can be fixed! Our master tech seems to believe there is an issue with the ground - Possibly a loose ground wire on the system. thanks for responding , due to frustration I tried to reach out to Avital themselves and no one answered phone and tried sending 5 emails but always an error when sending so apparently they dont respond ! So I decided to go to PC Richards and purchase new car alarm system , just incase something happens in future I know that store will be around compared to a small brick and mortar store ! Thank you , where are you guys located at ?
Hey dave just saw your reply we apologize we have been so busy as we are in the midst of remote starter season! We are located in Countryside, IL just outside of Chicago.
Which of these has touch sensitivity i live in a rough neighborhood and would like a touch sensitivity one meaning the alarm goes off when the car is touched.
These are simply remote starter systems. They do sell combo units if you want both features. Or you can buy just an alarm system. From there you can add all kinds of specific sensors like the one you mentioned.
The best option is relative to the range and features you want. In theory, the viper Smart Start is the "best" since it has unlimited range, can be operated from an app on your smart phone, and has a bunch of cool features. But they are all good!
Maybe a dumb question but I was wondering if the remote start was possible in car without push button start? I drive an 07 Infiniti G35 and it has a keyless turn knob ignition. So if I remote start it will I still have to turn the ignition once I get in the car?
It depends if the car has "take over" availability. If it does, you will get in the car and you will simply turn the key a click or 2 to the right (No need to crank it all way to the right as the car will already be running). If your vehicle does not have "take over" availability, when you open the door the remote starter will turn off, meaning you will get in the car and start the car back up like you normally do.
Yes it can! We have 2 different types of bypass modules that we use for installs. In this instance, one of the bypasses does not have a solution for that vehicle however our other one does.
Seeing as in the 5701 is already one of their top tier models, I would recommend bumping up to their Smart Start system. This will be different from the 5701 as it will include unlimited range, operated completely off of the viper smart start app on your smart phone - no need for a fob, and has a bunch of cool extra features such as knowing how long your car has been running for. There is also a GPS upgrade option for the smart start that allows you to track your car and always know where you parked - which a lot of people forget! Hope this helps!
Yes you will need to download the FREE viper smart start app. If you install the smart start remote start system using Bluetooth range only, you will not need to purchase the yearly subscription fee. If you are purchasing the system with the unlimited range, there is a yearly subscription fee. Sometimes viper runs specials on the subscription fees - we have seen specials where the first year is free. There is also a bundle package where instead of purchasing one year at a time, you can bundle 3 years at a discounted price. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Correct. The systems shown in this video are remote starters only. However, viper does make specific alarm systems as well of which you can add on cool sensors like the one you are talking about.
Generally the cheapest option would be implementing a "3x Lock" remote starter system in the vehicle using simply a bypass, if it is compatible. Basically, all you would need to do is hit your factory key fob lock button 3 times and it will start the vehicle. Only downsides of that will be excessive use of the door actuators and range limited to the distance you can lock/unlock your car from because you will be using that remote only. The cheapest physical viper remote system would typically be a 1 button 1 way system like the 4115V shown in the video. Thanks for inquiring!
Directed electronics currently does not have a digital solution for a bypass for this vehicle. Our shop does not install these systems on jaguars or other high end vehicles such as range rover, mercedes, bmw, etc. However, with some searching you should be able to find a specialty shop that does. Hope this helps!
All the systems here come with 2 remotes except for the smart start. That system is done off of an app on a smart phone. You can still link fobs to it if you would like though.
@@ztechwindowtint thank you. Cuz i have this Experience. Last month i was looking to buy a viper car starter just like you showed in the video in one of the retailers here in BC. and luckily it’s on stock. I ask the manager if it’s compatible with my mazda3 2014 model, so he called the installer to check if it is, then said it’s compatible so I bought the one with lcd and booked for an appointment. Last Day on the day of installing. The installer suddenly told me that the viper I bought is not compatible because of this firmware blah blah blah. Then offer me another remote car starter which is idata, it has lcd screen but i think it’s an old model cuz I haven’t heard of any reviews on it when i search last night. and in the back of my head says what the hell you suddenly told me that its not compatible, in the first place you are the one who said that it is compatible at the day I bought the product. Is it really compatible or not? He didn’t install yet the one he showed me because they are already closing and reschedule me next week. Can you advise me on what to do? Do i have to return the idata or I’m gonna stick with the viper? Looking forward on your response. Thank you 🙏
We are beyond grateful this video has done so well. The parts/systems in this video have not really changed much over time so it all still applies today. People keep finding their way to it so it has become some what of a message board that we stay prompt responding to questions anybody has. Take a look at our channel we still upload videos. Being a 45+ year old family business we have a large customer base and it can be hard to document everything. But we are trying to keep up with the times. We have a few videos in the vault ready to post... Check us out on instagram @ztechwindowtint
I’m a teacher, what would be a good system to start my car from my classroom? It really varies how far away I park but it should be under 2000 feet however there are brick walls that might interfere with the signal.
For far distances we would recommend a 2-way unit - this was you get confirmation that the signal made it to the vehicle and started it. Our 2 way remotes come with a 1 mile range which is great for most applications. The best option would be the smart start system which is operated from an app on your cell phone and has unlimited range! This guarantees you will always be able to start the car despite brick walls etc. Thanks for watching!
The basic 1 way viper starts 4runner but factory alarm goes off?? Wth It was already installed on car when purchased. Daughter didn't even know it had remote start Why alarm going off
These are simply the remote start options. For security purposes you can purchase a combo unit which would utilize both an alarm and remote starter. Tilt switches are optional but can be applied to many alarms for the purpose you had mentioned as well as glass shattering or unlatching lift gates for example. Thanks for watching!
Obviously tilt sensors are extra plus labor. Installing alarms in not charity. That's why I left the industry...You paid 20K for you car and you want to pay $200 for alarm to protect your car and I get $30 out of the 100 in labor?..... Bwahahahahaha. Good luck with your cars! I'm doing to real estate. Less work, more pay. If you're not making at least $15/hr take some lube to work with you. 🤣
Our master tech believes this could be a problem with the way the starter was installed, potentially a faulty wire or connection. The best tip I can give would be to go on the directed electronics website and use their installer locater to find the nearest techs to you and have them assess it. It is always hard to give a diagnosis without actually seeing whats going on under the dash. Hope this helps!
@@ztechwindowtint The viper whas installed recently at a car electric mecanik "shop" recently, they are known to be the best in my town. The car have no issues when I use the factory car keys. It's som time starting and runs for 4 to 5 sec and then stops, and trying to start it agen after some sec, when this are happening the starter working fine. The starter are factory installed. I did ask them only to install the remote start, no alarms. Thanks for the the tips, sorry for the poor English I'm from northern part of Norway .
You can find these at any authorized installer. Go to www.viper.com and use the "where to buy" feature to direct you to the ones closest to you. Hope this helps!
Absolutely! However it does require you to purchase one of the more premium "2-way" remote starter systems because they have a "manual transmission mode" which safely allows us to install it.
@@ztechwindowtint My car has an alarm system, lock and unlock Avital, Viper brand model that you suggest me for start remot and of course if you add to Avital.?? Or would it have to install the entire system of a single brand? Sorry men, i am new about this, thank you
If the avital system you have is already installed on the manual transmission car, the only option you can add to it is the viper smart start. If you want to install an entire system of a single brand it will have to be a viper system that has "2-way" for a manual transmission car. We have added the model numbers to the video description.
Price varies between regions and shops so it would be best to find the dealer located nearest you on the viper website. At our locations here in the chicago suburbs, expect to pay between $299-$599 installed.
