Just stopping by to say thank you, your work doesn’t go unnoticed, very detailed review just wanna say keep up the good work & to anyone else reading this have a good day! all we must spread is positivity.
This video is so well made and easy to understand. You gave me more information about these ring lights in 13 minutes than I've found in a few hours of research.
Thank you so much for this detailed comparison! I have been losing my mind searching through a sea of ring light listings on ebay and amazon. So glad I found your informative video!
You have honestly some of the most down to earth reviews of the stuff Im interested in. Not a bunch of hypebeast crap, fluff or other stupid stuff. I rather watch you do your think than anyone else right now when comes to tech reviews. Thank you all you do.
I feel like elgato was soooooo close. If they had an option for a tripod, included phone mount, and more optimized app control It'd be a must buy. I'm gonna start with the sensyne and then if I need to upgrade I'll get the elgato and just use the sensyne tripod. Thanks for the vid 🙏
Excellent. The only reviewer I could find who demonstrated how to mount the Elgato to standard photography mounting systems. Many of us are not interested in using Elgato’s proprietary mount. A stronger ball mount (e.g. a Manfrotto 494 Center Ball Head; 17.6 pound load capacity) on a sturdy floor or tabletop tripod stand with 1/4-20 UNC threads would be much better than the Elgato mounts.
Yep, when I first bought it, I didn't even realize there was a standard thread on the bottom. I know Elgato is trying to sell their Multi Mount system, but it's like they're hiding it.
I was going round looking for a ring light nd when I stumbled on this vid, I said, 'Iv seen very many reviews. But, why not give another one a try?' And yoh. Am glad I did. This is the best review I've seen. Also, it's interesting how I finally settled on the Sensyne. I feel like it's the best bet to try out, more compatible with environments and mobile devices. So yeah. Thank you for the great review.
Great video. I'm on a budget, so the Sensyne looks like the best option for me. As far as the more expensive ones go, I like some things about the Elgato light, but the Control Center issues would drive me absolutely nuts.
Thanks so much for taking the time to make such a thorough video. On a budget at this point so looks like the Sensyne will work for now until we can upgrade to something better later. I learned more from this 14min video than 2hrs of searching on Amazon and Google. You, my friend, are a gem! :)
Brother.......my goodness what a GREAT review! Thanks man, saved me a ton of time I was comparing two of the most popular ring lights on Amazon at the moment. The budget Sensyne model and the Neewer ring light. Now I know I can go for the budget Sensyne model, sometimes I record or stream during the day but mostly it is done at night when I stream games so it's a must and I like being able to drive more power to it via outlet as well. I know this video took some work to put together and it's appreciated. ;)
Thanks a lot my man, im going for el gato even though is expensive a.f but it's a long term investment so be it. thanks a lot for your review, one of the best reviewers ive ever seen on youtube, for real. thanks
Thank you soooo much for taking the time to make this! It's been immensely helpful!! Really appreciate your generosity of spirit and all the detail you go into!
very well descripted video really helps me in the prosses of what kind of lighting I am going to go with. Also gave me an idea of some videos I could make thank you
Thank you so much for this …I definitely didn’t want to go through the reviews and do a coin flip to buy my new ring light. I appreciate your work so much God bless💓
Such a great review, covered so many questions and even went beyond to let me know things I didn't know I needed to consider. Had to let you know! Thank you!!
Great review matey. Interesting to see the range of lights and what you get for your money. I do like the Elgato ring light and you brought up a good point about putting it on a tripod as I have a DSLR camera and was thinking of purchasing a ring light. Thank you for the review
Just wanted to say thank you for this review! I appreciate how thorough it was. I've been meaning to upgrade my lighting setup but I live in a tiny NYC apartment so space is super limited. As expensive as it is, it sounds like the Elgato might actually be best for me so I can clamp it onto my desk. Thank you for your insight! :)
Yo, I appreciate that you talked about all of these within context of each other. And not 8 different videos. I have been in the market for lights for some time and Im taking another stab at it. But I also just downloaded the software for an older t3i to see if that will be better than my logitech c920 webcam which looks decent but not great. Honestly I dont think ive seen a webcam that looked great ever. The journey continues. Continued well wishes on your youtube journey my man.
Thanks! I have a T3 (not i) and I tried to use it as a webcam, but didn't like it personally. I definitely would like to upgrade to a legit mirrorless camera myself to really take advantage of these lights more. How bad would you say the image quality is of this video? It was on a webcam 😓.
Logitech Brio webcam and I basically just switched between all these different lights as I demonstrated them. At the end it was the Elgato Ring Light + Neewer 18" Advanced Ring Light together.
Check out the Lume Cube ring light, I think it's recently released but it's on sale now (and combined with the discount code it's hitting around 150$) Has features that are missing from some of the ones in this video like battery mode option, included tripod/light stand, etc Just watched the point in the video where the elgato ring light fell over on the ball mount (totally agree not good design/ i have the stream deck from them tho) Thanks for making these lighting review videos! Helped me feel very comfortable in getting a ring light instead of another setup
Since like myself, you wear glasses I thought that you could answer this question. You said you had your light about 15 degrees off from center, so I don't have an accurate basis for comparison. But if I were to place the Newer ring light front & center, with it somewhat above eye level, how bad would the reflection be off my glasses? Would the reflection obscure or distract from my pupil?
It's pretty strong. I don't personally find it super distracting, but the rings will look giant with glasses head on unless you raise the light significantly. I use the Elgato right in front of me but I have it raised much over eye level for that reason.
I've been looking a lights and watched a couple of your videos. I'm almost ready to purchase but have a quick question. On the elgato ring light ball, is this a standard 1" ball? If so, can the clamp be replaced with a Ram Mount ball clamp. I use them on my ATV and other off road equipment mounts.
These all need to be plugged in except the Mpow (which is way too small and I think got delisted). For something on the go, I'd look into one of the Lume Cube ring lights. It comes with a battery. Never got around to getting one to review myself though.
I definitely need to make an updated video of this as some great new options are out now. But to break these down: The Elgato Ring Light is still #1 on the market - I use it to this day. I use the Neewer 18 inch Advanced often, still great. The Neewer 18" (not advanced) is better than the rest of the lights. MPow got banned (lol) Sensyne is okay but there's a lot better options now. I still use the tripod though. Same goes for Ubeesize. Mactrem I'd avoid.
I don't have a specific recommendation, I honestly still use the one I took from the Sensyne light which is great. All I can say is the cheap Amazon Basics tripods are probably not the way to go. Not very durable.
