They dont make them for free?! This channel alone does 20,000,000 views in 30 days. You know how much money that is in ad revenue? They get PAID to do it, theyre just double dippin' now.
It was not their faults. David and Mike have both said that they had nothing to do with the show being taken off of RU-vid. The higher ups did it to make more money to keep the show going
I'm from England, but I love you guys, the Ocean Going Liners that you put big engines in crack me up. Crying shame that I can't watch you guys anymore, but there we go :(
Did you notice that all the Best Roadkill Builds were made on RU-vid? I would expect that the higher budget will reflect in some awesome builds in the new season. Which shows, that creativity comes from the need and the passion. Budget have very little to do with that, I miss the old clanky and rough edged RU-vid version. I really do.
The best Roadkill builds are the ones where you haven’t abandoned the audience that followed you, showed their loyalty and interest and would easily have suffered the odd 5 second ad on RU-vid so they watch your once-great content. But nope, you took it all away and I hope you’re losing money hand over fist. And before those across the pond comment that all content is available free after 30 days’ delay on the MT site - no it isn’t if you’re in the UK or Europe. The MT site does not show the videos. So thanks MT, you really showed your appreciation for us showing ours. And here you are effectively sticking two fingers up at us (US - ‘giving the bird’).
unfortunately youtube ad revenue really isn't sustainable anymore, I will say it's annoying that the US eventually gets it for free when the rest of us have to pay, but to pin the fact that they went to a subscription service on greed isn't really fair.
I love these guys and have missed them. I had to unsubscribe from Motortrend when I got laid off 5/31. I've missed them on RU-vid, so this was a treat.
I love Stubby Bob. I want to convert my 2000 GMC 3500HD dually to 4WD. It has the factory I-beam axle in the front with leaf springs, a Dana 80 in the rear, 7.4 Vortec (454) and a 4L80E trans. Not sure if I should go with a Dana 60 or Dana 70 in the front. Any advice? Is one axle easier to work with?
How much money does it take to create 1 episode of Roadkill? and you want it spent for you? How about for 5 bucks, you can view 47 different programs, along with RK? Suddenly, going thur your Moms purse for 5 bucks becomes a mthly routine......you PS2 kids amaze the real car guys of America
With all of these teasers, it does not want me pay for the subscription on Motor Trend. Bring back Roadkill to RU-vid. I am sure there are others who would agree.
@@motorriderd6834 sadly the content cost money man. That's kinda why I side with RK and motortrend in these situations. When they ran outta money from yt and then ads became unreliable they had to do something.
I'm tired of every comment section being full of people whining about the subscription channel. It's not that expensive and there is lots of good content. Effing grow up.
Come on Motor Trend you're either bring back roadkill Hot Rod Garage and dirt every day to RU-vid or will wait until Motor Trend declares bankruptcy it's all up to you
Man I miss the old school roadkill. Finnegan and Friberger can both complain and be bi*****, I wish they could continue to work smoothly together. We could all feel the tension at the end. Together, when they stayed positive, was one of the best combinations ever!! RIP OG Roadkill, you passed the torch to idiots like whistlin diesel. Sad. Money destroys everything good.
its literally less than £5 a month for a subscription service that not only provides and pays for Roadkill but lots of other original shows (Hot Rod Garage , Roadkill Garage, Dirt Every Day) along with giving you access to a huge amount of other original and tv shows. RU-vid no longer provides enough revenue for shows like that to be made if you consider that they often don't mention the amount of money they spend in episodes but it does really add up to produce shows like this when you take the cost of things like crew and accommodation. and people saying that this is just taking advantage of a passion of two guys i likely expect they would not be able to do things like this without the help of a company and sponsors. consider before you start taking shots they could have just cancelled roadkill when RU-vid wasn't bringing in the money but instead built a subscription based platform for fairly cheap supplying a huge amount of content for affordable price.
Yup Hoonigans is where it's at now, shitting all over these sellouts And Hoonigans do it all without shoving their products in ya face, it's quite an impressive brand they've build for themselves
Hoonigans isn't bad but you can tell watching it that it is not the same quality. So you get what you pay for. But that said Hoonigans is doing a great job just not as good as road kill.
It pisses me off you guys went behind a pay wall, I don't think anyone was complaining about the budget of the episodes. Yet another thing I love gone cooperate.
So many hate comments, it's only 5$ a month for some amazing shows. RU-vid just isn't viable with it's ad monetization, especially after it's become so stingy.
So it costs a ton to make most episodes paying for parts, cars, filming, and editing. However the company as a whole doesn’t make enough in ad revenue and what not anymore to pay for the making of episodes because of RU-vid. So they moved to their own platform where you can watch for free with ads (though I’ve heard it’s just riddled with them) or get a paid subscription and watch without ads so that they can earn the money to produce more content. People seem to forget MotorTrend is a company at the end of the day and company has to make money. We love Roadkill and Finnegan and Freiberger love Roadkill. But for it to happen the money has to be there.
+M hudds You can still watch the episodes FREE with adds on the MotorTrend site, you pay for some exclusive shows and to see the regular episodes early (just like when they were on YT). The shows that were always free are still free.
I don't think people understand the move, or how money works in general. it can't be free because the production isn't free. many couldn't afford to own their own clapped out junk car and these guys get one almost every month. I guess you could ask the Roadkill staff to work for free, I guess you could ask MotorTrend to burn money on all of their expensive shows, but at the end of the day MotorTrend is a company that needs to make money and the Roadkill staff needs to eat. I mean it sucks, but the main issue isn't that Motor Trend buckled under and looked for other means to keep its shows, it's that RU-vid stopped being a viable platform. Other content creators have taken similar stands, and many of them have lower production costs. I also find it a bit odd that people say that Roadkill is going to lose all their fans, and fall apart when A. there are many perfectly willing to deal with the site's problems, ad viewing or even pay for the subscription, and B. They may have very well fallen apart and not be able to provide to what fans they have left if they hadn't looked for another means of income. If you are a fan, your better off paying $5 a month (I can afford this and pay for college on minimum wage), dealing with ads(to which you don't have to watch, grab a snack, use the bathroom), or complaining to RU-vid about their ad problem. If you aren't, stop complaining, unsubscribe, and take an economics class.
ok I've finally just got motor trend on demand. And its thanks to you guys complaining about not getting something for free. That's not how the world works. You want good content? You want the people making the content to make money, so they can continue to make good content? well. The real amazing thing is that it was ever free in the first place.
Yep, we've been let down by the amazing content, ever growing events (over 30k at RK nights this year), and the ability to get free content on their independent website. I've been watching their material since episode 3... Still famous and still amazing guys.
Tell that to everyone who attends Roadkill Drags, on Woodward, the original street race venue...........these Guys will sign autographs, while they drink your beer.....and cheerfully go for a quick cruise in your car, as long as its coloer than theres...........like, say, the Silver Bullit.
Goddammit why did they get rid of roadkill! I was 8 when I started watching it and it got me into cars I'm 12 now and I felt like pursuing my dream of cars but now that it's gone...
I genuinely feel bad for whoever has to run the youtube channel now. can you imagine how hard it must be to see those view counts drop and have to post just the previews and know that it's only going to get a 50% like ratio? seriously i feel bad for that person. they post this clip show in hopes that SOMETHING road kill related that they are allowed footage from will get some likes. Clearly whoever runs the youtube channel has no say in what they are allowed to post but is taking the brunt of all the frustration that the majority of fans feel. seriously youtube guy/girl , i feel for you.
this is sad, i love all of these cars like they are my story, i watched all their makings episode through episode, and now i see this video like torture to all of Rodekill fans on youtube, poor us .
I gladly subscribed to MTOD for some good content but now i'm just done, I can find everything from MTOD on YT from some legend that uploads it. I know you can get it for free but that's not in Australia so yeah...
even though it is free on motd they spam you with ad's yes ad's every 3 minutes and they aren't short either they are 30 second unskippable ad's and they show 3 and thats if the video will even load i have very good internet 100+mbps with an ethernet also, they suck the website sucks and roadkill sucks now
in many parts of the world we cant access the motortrend site anymore! even the free stuff! I was a paid subscriber for years now apparently the show is no longer available in my area! WTF!
if only they had advertisers that would make them the money they need to host the show, or if only there were websites that people already have subscriptions for they could put the show on where it would be seen by millions more people and people wouldnt have to pay for a monthly service to watch a single show
