If you've got some canned salmon in the cabinet, here's an easy way to prepare it. These cakes are great to have in the fridge, even for breakfast ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ihd2no1BsCA.html Hope you have a great day, and thanks as always for checking out our cooking vids!
definitely...smokes paprika is a strong flavor, but strong flavors work great in salmon cakes since salmon itself has such a strong flavor and can hold its own...one of my favorite things to add to salmon cakes is a strong curry spice mix, especially if I'm using them for burgers.
I'm an old man on social security and really struggle sometimes to get through the end of the month. I found a couple of cans in the back of my pantry and had no idea what to do with them. Thanks to you I was able to put together some good meals! You also seem like such a nice guy with a great sense of humor. You've most certainly earned a new follower and I'm telling my friends about you as well!
Salmon cakes are a favorite at my house, I grew up in Nova Scotia and we also used canned lobster and mackerel. I loved the lobster as we made finger sandwiches with it for our lunches. We also met the boats in the mornings a couple times a week when they came in with the fresh catch we ate fish probably 6 nights a week as it was inexpensive compared to beef. TFS this today it brought back lots of great memories for me.
I spent a summer living in Cooper Landing Alaska with a fishing guide and we had a freezer full of salmon and halibut, so almost every meal was some variation of seafood that cost us next to nothing...I definitely miss those meals. Canned salmon takes me back to my mom trying to get dinner on the table with 4 kids running around before my dad got home from work. Glad you enjoyed the vid--thanks for watching and leaving the nice comment!
I have to say I was so glad these had no bread crumbs! I still was concerned they might be on the dry side so I added a heaping Tbl of Mayo. They were fantastic! GBD (golden brown and delicious). Te leftovers were just as good. And they fit perfectly in my Keto lifestyle.
Thank you so much for the Mayo tip! I heard someone say about adding mayo to a lot of things..I have added Mayo to mashed potatoes..These were the instant ones,,but with a lot of milk & Butter..So good! I know home made taters are always better..
This looks so easy, My wife and i will try these out. this looks like a healthier version Recipe, without bread crumbs and not fried, Great!! I didnt notice that he bends down to get in the camera frame, it is funny, my wife and i say he is a Fun person to watch Demostrate and he writes his Recipe out also. We have so much Salmon to use, We want to make these Healthy Salmon patties ASAP. and skip the Salmon sandwhiches ,were cutting down on bread. Thanks Chef Buck.
This is how I found your channel a couple years back, canned salmon burgers. I made them so many times and love them. Can't wait to try these. Thank you for the recipe Chef Buck. Love your sense of humor so much 💕
a few years ago when canned salmon was 1/2 price I came home with 20 cans and CG looked at me like I was a nut...she never said no to a salmon cake, though
I like to use the bakes salmon balls in an onion/curry broth...I find canned salmon pairs very well with an Indian style curry, they're both strong flavors that don't get overpowered by the other
I've been wanting my Gram's Salmon Patties recently but she passed 18 yrs ago. I've never made these before but after your video I feel encouraged to give it a go. I appreciate you relatable cooking style so you can count me as a New Subscriber! Blessings to you & CG🙏🏾😊
I always fry mine but today I just want to try baking them. We are always dieting and we don’t need to always fry them in oil. Now we will have them more often!!! Thanks for your great video.
Dude! This is my first Chef Buck video to ever see but it won’t be the last. I love the high production VALUE! So much content and entertainment for the budget. Thank you for the smiles and inspiration to try the ball shape.
I really like the muffin tin idea...one of the 1st recipe videos I ever made was salmon cakes more than 10 years ago, and I served those cakes with mac and cheese!
Thank you so much for the recipe! I never thought of doing this and it’s almost $10 for a box of 4 salmon burgers. This is much cheaper and we know what’s in them. New subscriber here thank you!
Hey Buck & Camera Girl! A pro-tip suggestion for all recipes: wisk/blend all dry spices/seasonings together first and also the egg(s) separately before adding them into the mix. This assures a perfect distribution of all the ingredients throughout every bite! Cheers!
salmon cakes are sooooo easy---I love having a cans of this stuff on hand for those times when I want to cook up a meal but don't want to have to think about it too much
Awesome recipe! I've been frying salmon croquettes for decades but can no longer have fried food. This is a fav I thought I had to say good bye to! Thank you
I never thought about doing it without bread crumbs, potato and/or oatmeal. I'll have to try this. I freeze 3 months worth of uncooked patties at a time. They are great for prepped food and later easy cooking.
Boom you did it again. LOVE this.I never baked it before. Will try this recipe. Keep up the good work. Thanks for this recipe. Liver and onions now baked can salmon. You the chef!!!!
Thanks a lot! I generally fry salmon cakes in a skillet. When I bake canned salmon in the oven, it's often as smaller "meatballs" that I use is saucier dishes, but baking cakes works great too, and uses a lot less oil.
Been a long time since I've had these for supper thanks for always having the recipe when I need it. Always loved the round bones when I was a kid. Love making twice baked potato with can salmon and dill in the potato mixture. Mmmm mmmm!! Peace!!
Thanks Chef Buck, This is a healthy version, I make it the same way but use Indian spices ( turmeric, coriander and garam masala powder) and fry it. Will definitely make it like this, it's more healthy.
I never baked them but will try. I love salmon. I have made a salmon pie and smoked it on the smoker. I paired the cakes/patties with creamed potatoes and peas for my sides. The way Mom played them. 👍❤✌🙏
yeah, I imagine my cholesterol levels need a break...the last 6 months I've really upped my meat intake--too many temptations in Mexico!--CG and I need to get back on our schedule of making fatty red meats the exception and not the rule around our dinner table...that being said, I've got brownies in the oven right now, so I don't know who I'm kidding :^)
Fatty red meats are actually very healthy!😉 As long as the meat is not coated in flour or bread crumbs and deep fried, then you're good to go!!😎 I appreciate how you did not add any bread crumbs and that you baked the salmon patties. Such a healthy and delicious meal! And it's totally affordable for everybody!😊
I love salmon patties and I learned an important tip from you today. I put onions in mine. Sometimes they fall apart. You just taught me that I am not chopping my onions small enough. An important tip for a salmon lover. Thank you! Can you do a show on what to do with canned sardines. I have two cans in my pantry that have been there quit awhile.
I generally don't chop my ingredients as fine if I'm searing the patties and cooking them in the skillet, although I don't have overly large chunks either...but in the oven, it really helps to have minced or finely chopped onions and peppers
Chef Buck Peri You could even grate the onion, green pepper, carrot etc. with a box grater or microplane. I remember as a child, eating the salmon, bones and all with onion sliced on top. Gee, thanks for sharing this recipe and bringing back that memory ! It’s in my future very soon ❤️
coleslaw is one of may favorites---cabbage is a great veggie to have in the fridge because it'll last for a while if I'm being lazy and let it sit there for a week
Chef Buck I agree Chef Buck. I’ve also become a huge fan of Kim chi. It’s spicy and flavourful if you get the right brand. Hex Ferments brand is incredibly good. There’s a similar brand in Australia but I can’t remember the name of it.. I love putting it on bean burritos and plain rice. It also lasts for ages in the fridge and is delicious. Thanks for your fun videos!
I generally fry salmon patties as well. It takes a little longer to make salmon cakes in the oven, and they're dryer, but you don't have to pay as much attention, and it uses a lot less oil. I REALLY love salmon cakes cooked in a skillet, but they do definitely soak up the oil.
My mom always cooked salmon cakes in a frying pan and she always added breadcrumbs into the mix...I often cook salmon cakes in a skillet, but I leave the bread crumbs out whether frying or baking
This is great!!! I was searching for canned salmon recipes and I’m grateful I found your channel!!! You explain things perfectly!!! New subscriber here!!! I wish everyone a wonderful day!!! I’m laughing at “squishy squish,” I guess it depends on the day your having, you could do “punchy punch!!!” 😂
thanks....I definitely need to get back to eating more seafood and veggies, although I made brownies yesterday, which isn't a veggie or a seafood...have a great weekend!
@@ChefBuckRecipes Brownies are awesome! Seafood is essential and should be in the diet as I have heard that it's good for our heart. Helps to keep us healthy, besides, of course, the green veggies. Stay safe, and wish you a great weekend as well, Chef!
my grandma gave me a few dishes to make but salmon patties wasnt one of them... i asked her why she said create ur own! so seeing others makes me make my own!
Am eager to try your recipe. Thanks dearly for showing how to make 'em via baking. Am wondering if your baked salmon patties can be done with other seafood as well.
This is great! I recently bought a can of spam because I haven't had it in a long time. What about a video on what to do with spam? lol. I don't know how I want to cook it...
Chef Buck, I love you, and Camera girl so much❤❤😂. I wish you were both Hollywood actors or comedians. I really think you both would have been BIG STARS. I love canned Salmon and am going to try this recipe. Think about going on American Got Talent as a comedy team. You'd win. You are both adorable. God bless you both🙏🙏❤❤
You can definitely lighten up the density of these with breadcrumbs, smashed fresh bread, or grated potato. I would definitely go for these on a little King's Hawaiian bun with some cole slaw. Mmmn!
Great recipe. Salmon is not cost effective where I llive, so I will use mackrel. Once you know how to make this only recipe the fish is the difference. Even fish caught and cooked from your local pond, river, lake or ocean will work just fine Different fish different taste.
I have to take all that gross skin and bones out before I cook it. Then after I recover from that, I mix in an egg, some cornmeal, S&P, Garlic & Onion Powder and a little bit of baking powder. Fry 'em up in the old cast iron skillet and yum, yum! They're even good cold. The cornmeal is my mother's recipe. I've never seen anyone else just use that in salmon cakes, but it is GOOD!
I used to remove the bones and skin...now that I'm getting older and lazier and cheaper, I'm too stingy to pass up on the nutrition. Salmon cakes are good cold! I like them for breakfast too, with an egg on top
