I am about to refinish an antique dresser I picked up by the side of the road so thank you for this information. I don’t even have a sander yet.

I'm sure the Festool is the better tool, but in all fairness, the 5 inch DeWalt has a sanding surface area of about 15.9 square inches, and the 6 inch Festool sander has a sanding surface area of 28.3 square inches, almost double the area compared to the DeWalt. You'd have to compare sanders of the same size to have a fair comparison.

Depends on what you are doing. I would never use a dewalt or a Bosch (which is what I have in an inexpensive sander $80) on an epoxy finish. Too many swirls that you. An never get out. The festool sander however does not give me any swirl marks, so when I buff afterwards it takes much less time to get the perfect finish. Much better at wet sanding also.

I find the orbital works great as long as I use 320 grit sanding pads.

Festool is the most expensive, not the best. People tend to get these things confused.

The Festool 5" (125) is 249.00 & a much better comparison which is no comparison at all. If you're doing fine hand rubbed finishing, don't cheap out. BTW, you can use 3rd party sandpaper.

The sand paper is more important than the sander. Use a cheap sander with quality sand paper. As long as the pad on the sander is flat and smooth, the sander doesn't really matter that much. Cheap sandpaper will make any sander look bad.

You're correct but it would be a surprise if you shelled out the money for a quality tool & cheaped out on the sandpaper...btw, MAGA as well my friend @@MAGAMAN
