Could argue a few, but totally understand each of these. The only surprise was the Glasgow Distillery. I need to pay more attention to them. Cheers!

Great list. No spoilers, but you are right about #5, if you can get your hands on decently presented bottlings like the ones you mentioned ...

@@JeffWhisky They have a very deep selection of distillery exclusives at the visitor's center with some outstanding cask strength, single cask bottles that really let them show off how good their whisky can be. A real eye opener.

Nice to see you back at it Jeff. Agree with the Glengyle distillery, in fact I place Kilkerran, Longrow and maybe even the Hazelburn above Springbank and in that particular order. Interestingly (for me anyway) I did a side by side of the Lore and Laphroaig 10 Sherry and hands down the Lore come out on top, it is an older bottling (2018 release) so that may have been an influence. My top 3 currently, 1. Glengyle, 2. Tobermory/Ledaig 3. Glenallachie/Meikle Toir Fingers crossed you've got your mojo back for some more frequent posts but if not we'll just savour what you do release. Be good and happy slapping
@JeffWhisky
@JeffWhisky 5 месяцев назад
I am with you all, but Springbank may just beat out Hazelburn for me. The next question would be where does Glen Scotia sit in the Campbeltown battle? Some of their releases I love and others find really underwhelming. I really need to try Meikle Toir, heard so many good things about them! Thanks, I am currently 2 for 2 on monthly videos and I have been lucky to been invited on lots of livestreams etc. The Slapper will live on! Cheers for watching and getting involved!

I could be persuaded with the Hazelburn/Springbank switch. I think I harshly judge it because of the hype. Ooh Glen Scotia, the dram that dragged me to Campbeltown. It may just be my cheap pallete but I genuinely think the Victoriana is over egged and much to my delight I actually prefer the double cask. Not really had much more experience with it.

@@JeffWhisky Loved your video on the Top Distilleries is epic - fabulous!! I agree about the Lagavulin! I am having Laphroaig's Quarter Cask tonight for the first time. I am away at a conference and I picked up a bottle. It's not bad. It's not Lagavulin - and it seems a bit sweet but I am exploring and having fun! Have you had the quarter cask? If so what do you think?! I hope you are super well Jeff! Love your channel!! 🙂

Sometimes it’s funny how whisky distribution works. Longrow is pretty easy to get here in Florida in Total wine. And pricing is ok: $75. I tried Hazelburn, but prefer peated Longrow

So easy to put Springbank at number one, so we'll dine for that. Love the Kilkerran releases I've tried. My top three can change every week to be honest. Bunnahabhain, Glentauchers and Dailuaine are always going to be in my top ten. All the best chap👍

@JeffWhisky I've had a few Cadenhead's that have been outstanding for young whisky. SMWS have some good aged tauchers for decent money also. One of the best I've tried was a Bartles 20 year old. Bloody amazing stuff.

I don't get the Springbank hype. I bought two bottles of Springbank 12 and was so disappointed by the first i'm going to sell the other. Maybe there's something i'm missing ? The Longrow was OK tough, but not particularly better than Ledaig 10 or Port Charlotte. Kilkerran we'll have to see.

Nice one Jeff! Whether hype or not these distilleries in the top 10 are putting out some quality stuff. Whilst I can't agree with your number one, as I've never ever enjoyed a Kilkerran I've tried, I do respect your right to be wrong 😂 Cheers my friend, great video!

Cheers@@JeffWhisky.I’m sure I’ll meet Old Ballantruan somehow, some day. Yes, I put in my 15* on Dramface but to avoid guilt, much prefer to think in terms of top tiers than a set linear ranking. Excellent walk through, Jeff. "One of the most visited distilleries" (Glengoyne) Could this have something to do with location? (I know what my guess would be... easy call imho) My top-10 list? Not a lot of people bother... barely even myself, because it will change if not today, then tomorrow. The 5 "permanent" members, though, are: Springbank Glengyle Ardnamurchan (oh yes... at such a young age, incredible achievement by Alex Bruce & Co.) Linkwood Glen Grant (I know... ppl will go WHAT?? - but seek out GG from indie bottlers and you'll know why) Caol Ila ... I know. That was 6 among the 5 permanent members. But that's how my list(s) work(s). 🤡 Cheers! 🥃

Thanks Benny! I 100% think that is the case with Glengoyne, I know that was the reason I went was that it was an easy bus trip there. I now have Glen Grant indie on my hit list, never come across one. Cheers for watching and getting involved.

When it comes to top 5 faces, it's my face, your face, my wife's face, my six year old daughter's face, and Dramface. Loved your take on the top 40, and especially since Craigellachie made it to your top 10. Here's my top 10: 10: Craigellachie 9: 13 8: year 7: old 6: single 5: malt 4: Scotch 3: whisky 2: Beautiful yellow labels with old-timey designs and a prime number age statement between 12 and 14 and I just realized that I spent 10 minutes typing about one bottle instead of a distillery, but go suck an egg if you don't like it, I'm way too deep into this one to press the backspace button on my phone that many times! 1. Springbank

Interesting Top 10 Jeff. I guess my top 3 would be Glengyle, Craigellachie, and Ardnamurchan. My top 10 would include Kilchoman, Arran, Tobermory (Ledaig), Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Speyburn, and Benromach. I haven't tried anything from Springbank (not readily available and way too expensive) so can't include them in my top 10. Cheers!

There are reasonable and interesting things to me coming from Tomintoul - but top ten to me is quite a stretch considering the competition. I personally put Glenlivet below Tomintoul because those two good but limited releases are just the tiny tip of an otherwise bland and uninteresting iceberg. To me it even shows how they could be doing much better if they only changed the market they are after. And as good as their whiskey is, Springbank and Glengyle both suffer from hyper pricing here in the US. Can't put a top rating on bottles that start at £100 just for an entry level 10 yr old and the 18 yrs are at £375. (in fairness Kilkerrans aren't quite that bad even if Springbank is) The REALLY good Lagavulin special release was the Lions Fire, not the Phoenix Fire. Even if Phoenix was good, it was not worth the price. Lions Fire is even if barely. I can't live without a top 10 that has both Arran and Glen Scotia in it. I also think Glancadam is in there but if it doesn't quite make top 10, I understand. Others on the list I think are fair, even if my ranking isn't quite the same order. I want Loch Lomond and Kilchoman in there too, but they're on the edge. Laphroaig just no longer cuts it for me. Considering the other releases out there, it's out of my top 10 for sure. Edradour deserves a spot, but maybe just barely 10.
@Soldano999
@Soldano999 5 месяцев назад
To me Springbank is overhyped. I bought two bottles of 12 last year and i was hugely disappointed. I don't get it. To me it's very basic whisky. I did like the Longrow though. I also have a sealed bottle of hazelburn but i wonder if i should just sell it. Lagavulin is even worse. It used to be good but my last bottle was so bad i even considered sensing back to them. It was just horrible the worst whisky i ever tried. Tastes like sulfur. I'll never buy again.
@JeffWhisky
@JeffWhisky 4 месяца назад
Springbank deserves a lot of hype, but feel like it may be tipping over the edge and being carried by the hype train. For me, I would say that Hazelburn is the least unique in terms of flavour but you don't know unless you try it. What Lagavulin release was it? Sounds something either a dodgy cask or overly sherried? Cheers for getting involved!
