It’s because he’s keeping his voice relaxed and in the chest voice and sometimes dipping down to his lowest notes. Also prolly has vocal coaching or singing.
finally found a video with a good pace that i could follow through the explanation. Great work! Do you have any video on how do you make your set-up with that dark background?
Thank you. Watching reviews on the M50 make it seem so simple to use but yesterday after mine arrived I was overwhelmed by how many settings there are in the multiple menus. As someone who basically uses my iPhone to take simple pictures/videos of my dogs the M50 is a whole new world! Thank you for guiding me through this world. I look forward to parts 2-4!
I have watched this video several times. Nicely explained Todd. I use all the settings, but I film in neutral, because i film bonbon, how to do videos. I colorgrade after. If i don´t forget it:) I film with the 11-22 mm Canon lens. I feel the pictures are not super sharp. Any idea? I have a setup with light. See my videos Sweet Kitchen Skills RU-vid. I hope you can help. Thanks for all your help.
I have this camera canon m50 I buying copo months but I dont like any body won't buy just sent message me if you are interested thank you a lots it's help as well cause I dont know how to used for blogging
Very helpful for the beginning user of the M 50. I watched several other tutorials but this is the best so far because it doesn't assume you know more than you do.
Hello again, Todd! Back again! I not only hit 'like', I subscribed! This time, I had my M50 in my hands and followed all your instructions, until the last one in Custom Fn, when I had to call a halt. That's because my M50 is quite different from what your display showed. Oops, I decided to have another go at the CFn but, this time, I managed to change the screen so that it is exactly the same as yours. (I did the 2-finger thing that we all do with our mobile phones.) Okay, I should be right but I'd really, really like to know which setting to use for White Balance, when recording vids in church. Also, what are best settings for recording fireworks and Christmas decorations? I tried recording the latter prior to last Christmas but the results were......well, I should have used my 7D.
Great stuff. Many thanks. I would stay away as much as possible from using the shutter release if there are microphones nearby - when you depressed the release (after recommending mapping the video 'on-off' function to it) you could hear noise.
Thanks for this, Todd! It wasn't until you got to mention AF/MF that it twigged for me what I have been forgetting! (Put it down to being 79yo) I should say, though, that you really should mention, when setting the white balance, that it should NOT be set tod daylight, if capturing video indoors, especially in a church, where the light is often 'patchy'.
Thank you! I’ve been shooting professional video for nearly 3 decades and thought the M50 would be a good entry point for me. I was a bit intimidated and this video was SUPER helpful!
Not sure what I am doing wrong, it seems grainy. I had to set it back to AWB because I was inside and there was not enough light. Anybody have some suggestions?
@4:43 Not for beginning level. If you're doing unboxing, then pretend you're speaking with beginners. I have NO idea what you're talking about. Furthermore, I feel scammed and played. You're assuming that we have certain knowledge that only people who do NOT need unboxing and setup info would have. I.E. What is dual pixel auto mode? Only have 4 options under "Movie Record Quality". I definitely do want 4K. But why do I only have 4 options? I want to get around the crop.
thank you for the great video !! I wanted to ask you , i have m50 mark II with kit lens, can i use these settings also for livestreaming on a tripod since i will be on manual video mode? because i am usins f3.5 (lowest) with iso 400 and shutter speed 100, because if i go lower on shutter speed i get noisy grain and lines on my footage, althought i have good lighting in the room.
I really cant find the button to "push up" to stop wheel altering shutter speed? Re watched video many time but cant seem to loacte it? Anyone help? Otherwise super video, thank you!
Excellent presentation and suggestions. There are other similar videos in which the speaker talks too fast and doesn't really explain the options. WELL DONE!
Hi 👋🏻, I’ve tried filming indoors at 1/50 shutter, F3.5 @ 1080p 25fps, and it looks really dark in doors. Does this mean this camera just cannot handle these settings indoors and you a faster lens or better camera? Also to alter the brightness of the scene do you change the ISO & aperture? This really confuses me as my phone indoors looks great, and the camera looks bad (sensor is tiny on the phone).I have a 22mm as well that also doesn’t look great. Surely this camera can do better if a phone is this good?
Hey love your videos!! I’m based in the UK and looking for some advice please. I have the Canon M50 mkii with only the kit Lens at the moment My bro in law and I are starting our own RU-vid channel to do product review videos. I have made a studio set in my garage with soft boxes and ring lights, we will both be in the shot sat on chairs with a table in front of us! What lens and camera settings would be best for this set up? Thanks In advance 😊
I think they've updated the menu because I just bought my Canon M50 a few days ago and I'm missing alot of the settings you're talking about (starting at 3:55) are on my menu. :(
Wow I think are to the best guys help to tutorials very informative thanks so much I so glad I have watched you video . Also I have a question if you could do tutorial at Nikon 3100 please
I've had my M50 for a couple of months now and have been tinkering with the settings. I watched this video with camera in hand and followed your recommendations. Can't wait to field test it. Yours is one of my very favorite channels. You are a fabulous teacher and it's quite obvious that you possess a wealth of knowledge and experience. Thanks for sharing it with us. Looking forward to the follow ups to this one!
OMG - RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE - I JUST BOUGHT A 2021 CANON EOS M50 WHEN I TURN THE SCREEN ON IT SHOWS - DATE TIME ZONE TO BE COMPLETED NOT WHAT YOU JUST SHOWED MMMMMMM... THIS IS NOT STARTING OUT GOOD I AM NOT A CAMERA BUFF - NEED TO LEARN FROM THE REAL BEGINNING MAY BE IN TROUBLE ALREADY????????????????
I AM NOT INTERESTED IN BECOMING A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPER -- JUST FILMING VIDEOS FOR MY YOU TUBE CHANNEL THEREFORE I GIVE CANON CREDIT FOR KNOWING MORE THAN I DO - AND WILL NOT GO WITH MANUAL WILL GO W/ AUTOMATIC I NEED THIS QUICK AND DIRTY I NEED TO GET THIS CHANNEL GOING YOUR CAMERA SCREEN IS NOT SHOWIN WHAT MINE IS - YOURS IS EVIDENTLY A 2020 AND I HAVE A 2021 SO GUESS I HAVE TO MOVE ON SAD ABOUT THAT I LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU TALK SLOWLY AND ACTUALLY SEEM TO KNOW HOW TO TEACH HAVE BEEN THROUGH SEVERAL WHERE AUCTIONEERS SPEAK SLOWER THAN THEY DO - OMG
Could u possibly speak slower and not at speed of sound? Who are you super smart people addressing and why do u not get some speech training first. Ruined your presentation with your train speed.
i set my camera up with all of these settings and now my image is super dark or super exposed. i’m not sure what i did wrong but i can’t figure out how to fix it 😭
I use the Canon M50 along with the 10-18mm wide angle lens and this camera is AMAZING. If anyone has been thinking about getting it, GET IT YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!!
Thank you for this! As a newbie I was feeling kinda lost. Your pace speed was perfect, not to slow, not too fast. Just right. I learned a bunch and feel a lot more confident. Looking forward to watching your other lessons. Thank you so much
Thank you soooo much!!!!! THIS WAS SO HELPFUL!!!! The way you explained all of this made it so easy to understand especially by showing step by step with the camera screen on the right hand side of your video. I was completely confused by other videos thst I had watched trying to learn the perfect settings for my new M50 for recording video for my channel until I came across your tutorial! I cannot THANK YOU enough!!!! 🥰
Thx so very much for your help with the settings. I took my video off Auto and put it into manual, and followed some of the other settings -- shutter speed and adjusted my ISO and now .... no more tears, no more having to redo videos 5 times. You were great!
Todd Fantastic video... You made this very simple for me a first time filmmaker.. you have gotten me 1000 steps closer to my dream of being the next Spike Lee😁😁😁😁
Thank you for this! My M50 arrived today. I fired up this video and followed along, pausing as needed. This tutorial didn't cover sound recording levels, but that wasn't hard to figure out. I'm using a Rode mic with this camera for better sound quality (for guitar lesson vids). I probably could have spent half the day trying to figure out settings, but this video got me up and running quickly.
