@@bootchoo96 hahahaha it's the same for me guys I've ordered the Alienware but in the meantime I've been playing on the good old Predator for 6 years, one of the best!
It's amazing, unfortunately I have to return it. I find it very annoying because I don't want to be without it anymore. It has micro scratches and residue, only visible with a flashlight, which is still not acceptable in my opinion. So I hope the next one will be okay:(@@ANTSSRT8
Not the screen I'm looking at, but I can't thank you enough for creating this kind of content. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll have the money and the dual mode screens will come out and be good... I'll hope for a kvm in them too... But that might be too greedy
Hi! Setting the Gamma to 2.2 on sRGB seems to have an issue on my end. It has weird artifacts/pixelated on dark videos etc. edit: Setting the Gamma to 2.4 removes the artifacts/pixelated stuff. Does that work? or its not accurate anymore? my monitor firmware is M2B105
Thanks for the video, interestingly I changed to Creator, HDR peak 1000, and Dolby vision black and this fixed the issues with SDR displaying too bright on PC on things like skin tones, also seems looks besqt on my eyes both using PC and PS5 as i didnt want to change settings everytime i switch inputs
Thank you for the settings guide, all of your quality content is why I will continue to support you on patreon 😍. Could you please let me know where you got the blue space wallpaper you are using during the OSD shots in the video?
I can’t recall where I got that from as it was a while back but I should be able to send it to you. Drop us an email via the website and I’ll sort that out 😀 thanks for supporting us on Patreon
Will applying a firmware update change / remove any factory color calibration? (I'm not referring to the gamma 2.2 fix in a prior firmware.) -- Thanks ^^
Very difficult to say but given HDR mode is supposed to be used for dynamic content, then I’d say it’s very unlikely. They’re perfectly capable of handling high brightness for low APL scenes and highlights
Might be a dummy question, but for sdr mode i turn HDR "off" in the alienware monitor settings and in Windows 11, right? And if i want to use HDR mode, i turn this "on" in alienware monitor settings and in windows 11 i enable the HDR mode or not? I'm a bit confused right now about HDR mode. Thanks in advance.
You don’t need to change anything on the monitor, that will auto switch between SDR and HDR mode depending on the input signal it detects. So you only need to enable and disable it in windows when you want to view actual HDR content. For some games, that can also trigger HDR mode automatically without you needing to activate it in windows too
What's everyone's tips for audio options with this monitor? Just bought this today as its finally on sale in the UK but plan on using it for my xbox series x just as much as I will on my PC so having no audio jack or fibreoptic is most likely going to give me problems. How does EARC work ? Help.
Your menu looks a lot different than mine, it puts a menu on the bottom of the screen. Maybe I have a newer firmware version. Are there any settings for Windows or Nvidia control panel that make the display look better for gaming?
What do you recommend for playing FPS games like Warzone. Mine is hooked to my PC and it won't let me change anything and says "Currently processing HDR content. I can't seem to turn smart HDR oiff
We’d recommend only enabling HDR when you’re going to view actual HDR content tftcentral.co.uk/articles/heres-why-you-should-only-enable-hdr-mode-on-your-pc-when-you-are-viewing-hdr-content
@@tftcentral sorry for another question. I have a i9 1400 k and a 4090 prebuilt from NZXT it’s the player three prime I think. If u don’t recommend that what’s the one u would? I can’t remember. Sorry brand new to pc gaming and u r a huge help
Mine is very greenish out of the box, is this normal? I can tune it down make it better. But the monitor menu (that doesn't get affected by color changes) remains very green aswell. Is there a fault with my factory calibration?
@@tftcentral Well custom colors to tone down the greens. All presets are green. I think I'm going to order a new one and return this one, since I'm still in the return period
Hello; no matter what I do or try, the creator mode looks always GREY and washed out. I tried deleting the ICC profiles, check my NV control pannel; change HDR settings but nothing make it pop like it should. Anyone has an idea? Using same monitor Alienware AW3225QF
I was having the same issue. Right click your desktop and select Display Settings. Click on Color profile in the Display settings menu. Make sure the Color Management toggle is set to Off. Whenever that toggle was on my monitor was completely washed out in Creator Mode
Have a look here for latest info and testing tftcentral.co.uk/articles/hdr-brightness-investigation-and-how-to-get-a-brighter-hdr-experience-on-the-dell-alienware-aw3225qf
Is it recommended to use the windows hdr tool"? Otherwise should I use some profiles or should I delete them all? What is the best thing to do? Thanks for the settings!
My operating system has changed the brightness and contrast settings, I already have some settings made and I don't want to have to reset to factory default 🙃. Can you confirm that the default brightness and contrast setting is 75%/75% for AlienWare monitors? 😊
why is DV off, make the whole screen darker tho? i like it better with DV on and HDR1000. espeically for using and watch like youtube for example with RTX HDR super resolution etc. there doesnt seem to be a reason anymore to not have HDR on even when using just windows/browsing etc.
Because DV mode is overriding the Peak 1000 mode's EOTF tracking and ABL behavior when it's enabled, and SDR content is noticeably dimmer in Peak 1000 mode. HDR content will not be dimmer, though, and Peak 1000 is capable of achieving brighter highlights than the DV modes when viewing HDR10 content.
Yep. Only further addition would be if you wanted to consider forcing a brighter HDR experience using the Dolby vision mode as described here tftcentral.co.uk/articles/hdr-brightness-investigation-and-how-to-get-a-brighter-hdr-experience-on-the-dell-alienware-aw3225qf

Hey. Question. I noticed when turning on my HDR that some of the blacks become a little like dark grey which is annoying since i feel like blacks are “blacker” when using SDR. Any idea how I can fix this? Or is this how HDR is supposed to work
No that’s not how it’s supposed to be. But when you are observing blacks in HDR mode do you mean for SDR content like desktop patterns etc, or actual HDR content?
@Darebi ok that could just be the way HDR mode is handling SDR. Fairly common. See what blacks look like in actual HDR content, but i expect they’ll be fine. Best to only enable HDR mode when you are viewing actual HDR content
When running Windows HDR calibration tool, which color saturation setting do you personally recommend? Leaving it at 0 or increasing it to a specific number for best results
@@tftcentral I prefer it at 0. Someone made a video and they recommended 70. I know at the end of the day it’s all a matter of preference, I just think that the oversaturated color look isn’t for me. I use it mainly for web browsing and gaming.
For my LG C1 48 I went into the override menu and set the HDMI signal override to BT 2020, it looked infinitely better to me, I prefer saturation and vivid colour over "accuracy". What would be the equivalent of this for this monitor or any monitor in general? I'm really clueless when it comes to these colour specifications.
Not sure if we will have chance for that one. We do have best settings and a calibrated icc profile available though already in our database on the main site 😀
Based on our two reviews of the screens, it’s the 32” model that is garnering the most interest. And Dell haven’t ever paid us a penny for anything. We even had to buy those two screens ourselves with the money from our Patreon supporters because their PR company in the UK never have anything available and couldn’t provide us with samples
Would you recommend setting to 12 or 10 bit in the colour preferences in nvidia control panel, or are there certain use cases to pick one over the other?
Love mine! However, call of duty looks less vibrant colors wise compared to my QLED Samsung tv from 2018. My system is an Xbox series x. I have brightness at 100%. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!! Thank you! I’m assuming that I will be in HDR the entire time on Xbox - with settings at 4k & 120hz..
.The HDR modes, including the peak 1000 mode are all darker than they should be really and so that’s likely what you’re seeing I expect. There’s no easy way to fix that for an Xbox but you could maybe try the true black 400 mode instead of peak 1000 as it can look slightly brighter in some situations Some background here tftcentral.co.uk/articles/testing-hdr400-true-black-and-peak-1000-mode-brightness-on-new-oled-monitors
Up to you, but those calibrations only apply in certain preset modes (the Creator modes) and you may still want to try some of the other settings included in this video
Hello 🙂 I got the aw2725df , should i go with the same settings than this one for hdr gaming on ps5 ? Like hdr Peak 1000 or true black colors and thats all ? Thx for the content 👌
Each mode is independent so whatever you select in SDR mode won’t impact how the screen behaves in HDR mode. But it will remember what you had it set as when you move back to SDR again
@@tftcentral interesting. When I’m in HDR mode and try to change settings the screen shows a message saying it’s processing hdr content. It doesn’t even allow me to change settings in HDR
Either a headphone jack from your motherboard or if your on console you can get creative like me and use your secondary controllers audio jack to plug your speakers into 😂 I plugged my dualshock 5 into the USB c in the front of the monitor and plugged the audio jack in lol bam surround sound.
@@tftcentral this might be a dumb question I got the one with spots exchanged. And I got a new one should I wipe up or anything like that when I take off that sticky screen stuff it comes with?
@@tftcentral yes I know! I always turn it on in game. In display manager I can’t find creator mode so that’s weird. So the best thing is: turn on pc - turn off hdr - go in the on screen display - set it up like you - turn hdr on in windows and calibrate the sceen. That’s the right way to do it?
@Wesleyy-87 the screen will remember its settings in both SDR and HDR mode independently. So yes you could do as you described. Then when you’ve finished with the windows HDR tool, just disable HDR and the screen will move back to the SDR mode you’d configured
Hope someone can help me. Got this monitor a week ago and i followed all the instrucions here. Im still having two major problem with this monitor and i dont know how to fix it. The HDR mode have colors so damn washed out vs sdr mode and even this guide didnt change this thing. Also this monitor (at least mine) suffer with a real bad flickering while HDR ON, GSYNC enabled. This monitor is rated as the best one to get but its insane how bad it is on this two side. Is there some fix ?? Im goin crazy.
I imagine the issue with HDR looking washed out is when you are running in HDR mode and viewing SDR content and the windows desktop? That’s very normal and to be expected as windows is, amongst other things, reducing the colour space. When you view actual, real HDR content it should be fine? Oled VRR flickering is also an inherent problem with the technology and all OLED panels can suffer from it. Setting frame rate caps in games could help. Or simply disable Gsync and use vsync to entirely eliminate it
@@tftcentral Nope im talking about hdr content like playing a videogame as lost ark or stuff like that. The definition and color are great vs an ips panel but if i turn off hdr colors become more brilliant and vivid even in videogames and thats sad; Should i try something? Thx for the advice ill try to turn off g sync and see if the problem persist. If it persist, should i ask for a replecament?
@Kaylex_VII that could vary by game and is probably down to how the content is mastered. Also make sure the game actually supports proper HDR and is enabled fully. In SDR mode with wide gamut active, the content will be “stretched” to the wide colour gamut regardless of the gamut of the content and what it’s supposed to be. Whereas in HDR mode it will auto map to the gamut of the content. If the game is only mastered in SDR or a small colour space, it will operate in that and therefore look less vivid and saturated than the “stretched” SDR mode would. If the game is not a true HDR game or just has a “fake HDR” or “auto HDR” type operation then it’s very likely the content is actually mastered in a smaller colour space, and therefore that’s what you’re seeing. Nothing to do with the monitor as such, just the way the OS and content are handling the different modes
Why is it always running an "update" when I shut my PC down? It's not working for several minutes when I turn my PC back on, and I have to interrupt the update to get it working again. HELP ME 😅
After a few houres (4?) your panel health goes from green to yellow, meaning you need a pixel refresh. If you do not do this manualu via the monitors menu, it does if after you turned of the pc. This is a good thing because next time you turn on your pc, your pixels are refreshed and your panel health is green again.
HDR is meant to look darker, BUT the highlights should be much brighter in comparison to the rest of the image. With highlights I mean any small, bright parts of the image e.g. the lights of a car.
Returned this display since I couldn’t use DLDSR. It is a relevant feature even with the higher PPI. My AW3423DW with DSC on works with DLDSR so it doesn’t make sense this display can’t use it.
Why would you need dsr on a 4K panel? Rendering at 8k and downscaling will destroy your fps for almost no visual benefits. And dldsr is worse aswell when you could natively have 4K.
Not sure if we will have chance for that one. We do have best settings and a calibrated icc profile available though already in our database on the main site 😀
No plans at the moment to do one of those but the best settings and calibrated ICC profile are available in our database on the main site which will hopefully help 😀

Hey @tftcentral WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE A "BEST SETTINGS" video about the ASUS PG32UCDM, AND WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET A "ADVANCED ICC" COLOR PROFILE FOR HDR FOR THE PG32UCDM? THE ONLY ICC PROFILE FOR PATREONS RIGHT NOW IS THE "SDR" ICC PROFILE.
Probably as soon as you stop messaging in ALL CAPS 😀 we hope to have a best settings for that screen at some point soon but creating profiles for HDR mode isn’t possible I’m afraid, and you wouldn’t really need them in the same way you would for SDR
I tried these settings for HDR in Elden ring on Steam and I've never seen a game look worse. For the life of me I cannot figure out why everything looks so orange.
Well there’s no setting here that changes the colour temp or would cause anything to look orange in HDR mode. I suspect there’s a problem somewhere else in the chain
