The benefit of this type of camera system is you actually don't need WiFi in your home to work. The cameras connect wirelessly to the homebase using their own communication protocol (not using home WiFi), and the homebase connects to your home router for internet access (using a physical LAN Ethernet cable).
@@dial2fast Thanks. Looks like the home base signals were able to pass through the brick wall of your house. Did you see how far away from the house you could place a camera and still have it function. Is there a way on the APP to look at signal strength?
The front camera that I mounted on the tree is probably 80ft from the homebase. I have not tested the furthest distance. The main page of the app with the camera thumbnail does show signal level at the top right corner of each camara pic. Currently the camera on the tree shows 3 of 4 bars. All the other cameras have full 4 bars.
@@dial2fast Thanks very much for this information. Definitely worth considering buying these. I have always really appreciated your thorough and concise explanation of the products you review.👍
FYI. your mounting bases are backwards. The long base is for your solar panel to be able to adjust the angle for the sun direction. The small base is for your camera. I have this setup also as well as the 5mp doorbell camera ultra. Great system. Thanks for your review
I didn't see a spec on the camera to homebase range, but typically these type of wireless camera should work with a range of 80-100 feet. Depending on line of sight and any obstacles in between, this distance can be more.
So i have a few questions, was gonna get this for my dad in another country. Do the solar panels work well to keep the cameras charged? How are they holding up long term? Also is the cloud service the only way to increase storage?
The solar panel do need direct sunlight to fully charge the battery. If it's in a shaded area, the battery will drain. Everything with this camera system still works great. I really like it. The internal memory is plenty for most recordings. Setup the zone detection area to reduce false alerts, and you won't fill up the memory card as quickly. And yes you can subscribe to the cloud service to archive the video files.
Question. When you pick the 4 video option when you get a quadrant of each camera in each corner of your phone. Can they all be live views at the same time?
Sorry I don't have Alexa. I did add it to my Google Home app and it was simple and it worked. In Google Home, I just added this brand from the list of devices and I was able to view the video feed.
If you are looking for a system that records 24/7, you need to get a NVR (network video recorder) camera system with a 2 to 4TB hard drive. None of these stand alone camera system will record 24/7.
@dial2fast ,ok well. i returned mine, with sensitivity turned all the way up. Daytime detection was great, but at night, it didn't detect .e until I was 8 to 10 feet away.
Wow, this review is absolutely amazing! This security system is exactly what I have been searching for. I live in a rural area and now that I upgraded my router to the Netgear Nighthawk AX5400, I can get a very strong Wi-Fi signal all the way out to my shed. I'm going to place the cameras on the trees that surround my home. Again, great video review, thank you 👍.
Mine won't record motion unless you are under the camera. And ive adjusted every thing i can. And moved them to different locations. Won't even pick us up driving in the driveway and the camera is 14 feet away
