I picked up a salad bowl at my local dollar store here in Canada for 4 dollars which is abut 3.50 USD. I had my neighbor drill a hole through it and used it as a squirrel baffle and it works amazingly. Save your money people. Most of the baffles sold at stores range from about 30 to 60 dollars or even more and cost more than the bird feeders they are protecting. Try using a plastic bowl instead and boring a hole into it for the birdfeeder hook..
Usually they just keep going until they find a way to get some of the food. If you look closely at this "successful baffle" you can see that most attempts it sways enough that some bird seed falls out as it swings. So the rats with tails, um squirrels, will get it that way. I have tried multiple products, home made suggestions and tips that folks swear works. NOTHING WORKS!!! They always win, or at the very least chase away the birds.
This was fun to watch. Placement of food tray under the top baffle is important, I see. Squirrels have a great ability to stretch and reach for a handhold. Thanks!
Swiper Fox Good idea; or maybe a baby pool full of muddy water. Or better yet, water-downed white paint thinned out enough so that it doesn't solidify too rapidly, but thick enough so that it sticks to squirrel when he falls in.
Wicked. But no, I wouldn’t do that. I shot one once with a pellet gun then felt bad because it was just trying to survive. Now I don’t kill them, I just thwart their efforts to get to my bird feeders. More fun and humane that way.
I love videos with the subject of preventing squirrels from eating bird's food. But, not because I love birds or I want to learn the tricks taught in the videos. Because I love squirrels and this sort of videos are very good chances to watch them. I really admire their persistence, fitness and cuteness 😁
Both items were picked up at yard sales and I rigged them together. However I did see the smaller domed feeder at Walmart. The 2nd larger dome was half of a larger hanging terrarium. Good luck- STILL frustrating those squirrels!

At one time I thought anyone who could devise a squirrel proof feeder would make a fortune but I've come to realize there's no need; they're making a fortune already off non-squirrel proof feeders. This one may have been effective for the duration of this video vs these squirrels but I doubt it will last. My wife buys them all and none have been effective for more than a few hours including the one depicted here. The thing is even though they successfully rob the other feeders, they still go after latest unassailable addition so it's not about hunger.
Absolutely right. They're just gluttonous pigs. It drives me nuts when people say "Oh, the poor squirrel is just hungry...you're so mean, just feed them too". What they don't realize is that I have a squirrel feeder that they clean out in less than 2 hours at a time and immediately rob my bird feeders afterwards. Plus they're bullies, destructive to homes, lawns and gardens and cause power outages. I stopped filling their feeder and finally found a squirrel-proof one that so far works like a charm, once I found the right placement. I despise squirrels SO MUCH after dealing with them. They're horrid.
Why are you unnecessarily feeding the birds? It is bad to feed them other then in times of distress as you rob them of their lively hood, activities, space, and lives.
