Hi RIck! Nice vlog as always. In the last challenges you took you always chose the 6 iron for the 180y shot. I would think with your gaping it should be a full 7 iron. What do you think? Nice to see a drive ending in the fairway although I'm wondering why you don't use a 3 wood for the over 250y shot? Keep up the good work and better luck the next time! Cheers!

This looks like a great teaching/training tool for both you and your clients. I would agree with your other viewer that it would be well worth the effort to dial in and mark the distance of each shot with a flag. My poorest distance control and most offline shots are often layups on pae 5'a (ie hitting to a general area rather than a specific target). I bet you'd instantly add 15 points to you next skills challenge if you had visual targets to aim at. Also, use the 7 iron at 180, you always over cook the 6 at that distance.

great video Rick. Any chance you can do a hardware video, I don't mean clubs, I mean all your tracking gear you use to gather all your stats. I'm interested as I don't have a driving range near me and have to travel so having something in my garage to gather and record what I'm doing would be great. anyway keep it up

Hi rick, I like your channel, and you've got some great vids up. I do however feel like the content now is focused more on yourself, and less about passing on your knowledge to help average Jo's like me get to grips with the wonderful yet extremely difficult game that is golf. Would be really pleased to see you start posting a few more tuition based vids. Hope you don't take this comment the wrong way, just merely meant as a bit of constructive criticism.

Maybe with going through slight swing changes he's losing a tiny bit of distance, just until all of these changes come together then he'll be back to his normal distances. That's just what I'm assuming.

@darksidedroids4603
@darksidedroids4603 7 лет назад
If you had markers for the distances and direction it would definitely help like you mentioned. I think that's a major part of the problem for you in general because you don't know what you're aiming at. Best of luck
@MadRS
@MadRS 7 лет назад
I think this skills challenge should be done with carry distance only at least until the 250y shot. No pro has their distances including roll out. Rick do a challenge and score it yourself with carry until 250y then do the 250y and 250y+ as tee shots.
@Visablehand
@Visablehand 7 лет назад
How many takes did this take for that start?
@matthewsheppard7509
@matthewsheppard7509 7 лет назад
Rick, you've got to put some markers out there. You'd nail 40 points with something to visualise instead of guessing the distance. Get Pete on it as well. Competition is healthy!
@oz2742
@oz2742 7 лет назад
Matthew Sheppard disagree, you don't have markers on the course when you play
@MrMannydac
@MrMannydac 7 лет назад
Ozmodion yeah you do. What course doesn't have 100,150 and 200 yard markers? Also he uses a range finder, so do the pro's on their practice rounds and mark down the yardages in their books.
@kylrhodes11
@kylrhodes11 7 лет назад
Rick what putter are you bagging these days?
@MrMannydac
@MrMannydac 7 лет назад
Hi Rick. You've done this challenge 5 times now and have only scored half the points on offer once, yet you take the same club and shot for each yardage everytime. Do you think your approach to each shot needs re-evaluating? For example, the last shot you only need to carry it 250 yards, yet you are taking your driver with your normal 300 yard swing. Would a tour pro take the same approach to that shot? They'd probably take a 3 wood or use a fairway finder with a driver. You will score the same points hitting the middle at 250 than you would at 300 yards, so why are you trying to hit a narrow fairway 300 yards?

Rick I think if you did your shot routine for every shot, then it would make a difference.
@tobysmith8925
@tobysmith8925 7 лет назад
I think the main thing you need to take away from this is you need to practice staying in the moment. I'm no expert, but everything I read with regards to the mental game is you need to focus on the shot at hand, and not look forward or back. After you started with 3 x 5 pointers, it appears your focus goes to your achievement or the potential score you could get, rather than the shot at hand

@gallmbt21 7 лет назад
Hello rick Not a criticism this , just an observation. The 85, 100 and 120 yard shots, you haven't got one to pin high or beyond in the past few challenges. Watched 4 of them and noticed this. Maybe something to think about going forward Love the videos
@MrMannydac
@MrMannydac 7 лет назад
Matthew Gallagher its the one thing Rick said stood out big time when he played Danny Willet. His scoring yardages (150 and in) is nowhere near good enough yet he continues with the same approach, which is so frustrating. My golf pro, on my first lesson with him told me to never take a full shot into green with anything from 60 degree to 9 iron. Always club up and use less swing for more accuracy. Maybe Rick doesn't believe in that approach, but his doesn't seem to work either and the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results.
@gallmbt21
@gallmbt21 7 лет назад
MrMannydac haha love the Einstein quote :) Yeah the difference between the very good players and the average players from 120 and in is distance control/trajectory control. Tiger and O'Meara used to play pin high competitions for example which shows the importance. Im sure its on ricks radar and he has all the tools to make sure he gets it right :)

I think you need to find a way to hide the score. Feels like as soon as you realize it is a good 'round' going, you fall off the rails. Seems like you need to just focus on each shot, and forget what the total is, or how far you are off your best.
