I wanted you and Peter to know that I have enjoyed your videos so much...I have been laid out in the hospital with an injury for 5 days and you two have kept me laughing...thank you very much!@@👍
Rick what happens on the 20 yard chip over the glass panel if u take a 2 iron and smash it through the panel? is there a nice breaking glass graphic or do u just get nil points? Go on try it...u know u want to 👍
have you considered not looking at your total score until the end? i myself will get more nervous if im actively keeping score. but if you dont add up where you're at during the challenge you may find that it calms your nerves toward the end and be able to perform better. kind of like how some tour pro's wont look at the leader board coming down the stretch.
Rick this shows that you and Pete need to practice competitive golf with an audience cheering in order to feel relaxed in the quest for the open, getting nervous really affects the performance of the golfer, it happends to all no matter waht level you have it just goes down if not relax/confortable. Loving your vids ! good luck!!!
Hi Rick, love these challenge videos, just curious though, do you play to land each shot miles short and to bounce on? Can you not stop a iron shot on the greens in the game? Like the 150yrd was a hard 9 iron you said, then for 165 you hit a 8? The 56* and gap wedge were never going to reach and they always spin back, its like your forcing nearly every shot which under pressure is surely making it harder for yourself?
Love these vids! My head would go knowing i need the points at the end! Think I'd find it easier not knowing the score! Just booked a lesson with you on 16th of this month for my birthday and looking forward to it!
Rick, love your passion for this and your competitive nature. Keep plugging away, and you'll get the magic 40. I would love to see you and Pete against each other in the same video. Highest score gets the video for their channel??
Very consistent effort, Rick. BTW the 2i and 3w didn't let you down... in an effort to put pressure on yourself you ended up channeling negative thoughts. You have so much talent!!! Execution in pressure situations is also a learned skill so I encourage you to work at it. Perhaps you can do a series on it much like you do with Dan and your swing. Find yourself a sports psychologist who wants the exposure that comes with your many loyal viewers. If you can conquer the mental side of this game the sky's the limit for you. Just look at what it's done for DJ.
Despite being 2 points under your personal record, I still think this is the best skils challenge you've played so far. It was very consistent, you scored points on every shot up to those last two and quite a few of those 3-pointers came very very close to giving you 5 points instead. You definitely have the potential to score 40 points here.
Always enjoy the challenges!! Never enjoy seeing you hit a 2 iron like that! Need to use a hybrid or fairway wood there Rick. Love ya, and all your contributions on YT!
Just curious on the second challenge. Do you shatter the "glass" if you hit a skully like i certainly would? Really like these skill challenges. Thanks.
Potential solution for your gapping issue (2 and 4 iron). Replace your 4 iron with the Callaway 21* utility iron bent to 22*. That should give you 4* from the 2 iron and 5* from your 5. Made the change myself with good results. It was a lot easier to take some off the 22* than to pump the 4 iron.
Rick: love the shills challenge videos. Your commentary during shots is priceless. You have to battle Finch head to head to bring out you competitive drive and break 40. Come on Shielsee, let's get it done!!!
Rick Shields I really love your channel, and I love watching your videos. Most of your videos really helps me alot with my golf. Keep on doing what your doing, looking forward for your next videos😀😋 ⛳
I've really enjoyed this series of videos so far Rick. Are you able to do a head to head challenge like this with Pete? Would love to see it! #EagleMooseChallenge
I thought you had a chance when you brought out the Cobra 3 wood instead of the Epic. For the most part you distance control was dead on. You have a 45+ game in you. Can't wait to see it.
I only know you thru YT vids and yet.., I find myself rooting for you. Saying to the video.., "com' on Rick..., go go go., oh no.., sit sit..., bite bite and all the other words out loud. Oh well.., it's still your best score. I noticed you showed slow motion showing your swing in this vid. Would be great using slow motion when giving lessons. Using the arrow and point out what your doing. For instance..., stop video and with arrow point out where your left arm is or your shoulder and/or first move on dn swing. Just like when you take lessons from Dan. Would be a tremendous help. Thx Rick
You need to do this challenge, but hide the total. As soon you realize 40 is in reach, you fold. Just play each shot for what it is, and don't worry about the total. BTW, love the skills challenge vids!
Gutted for you mate! This was going so well too. Your long game is usually really solid too, although you have never hit the runway over 250 on these tests. Maybe check the calibration if the simulator 😉 It must be mental, time to go see a sports psychologist I think!
"I'm laughing but I'm crying as well..." pretty much me every time I go out to play these days. Learning a lot from your channel, keep up the good content!
You should have had it through 12 shots. Crazy how your nerves can get to you when you know people are watching. Your very good up through all your irons.
This is an odd thing to say, but it is reassuring to see even the pros getting nervy. I'm not the only one. Hard lines Rick, I'm sure you will break 40 soon. keep up the awesome work mate👍
I know it's asked a lot, but really how accurate are these simulators? Would these shots all be within a yard or 2 of what they are on the simulator if they were real shots? I know the technology is advanced it just doesn't seem possible it could calculate the spin and ball flight accurate enough.
I'm really new to golf, but is there any reason to be able to chip the ball over something that's 8 feet tall? Or is it just a show of skill and ball handling?
Well man it's time for a new hashtag #ShielsyQuestfor40 love watching these man! Got an idea for you how about a Rick vs Pete Vs James back to back challenge! With a twist the two not playing get to pick the club you have to use (but has to be reasonable)
