Best stops on the NC 500 East Coast

On our North Coast 500 route around the top of Scotland, we are making our way from Inverness up to John O'Groats along the easter coast. We made a great stop in Dornoch where we visited the Dornoch Beach, the Royal Dornoch golf course, and walked around town. We were fortunate enough to see wedding goers in all their Scottish finery at the Cathedral. We were especially impressed with the Dornoch Beach Wheelchair program that was manned by capable volunteers who ensured that the beach was accessible for everyone. Here is a link to their website:

As we headed up to Wick, we stopped for breathtaking views over the cliffs and castle ruins. Storms brewed as we neared the top. and headed for John O'Groats.

What a lovely tour on the NC500. It is on the list- and almost booked to do this spring. My husband and his brother are HUGE ~Scotland rugged country fans. Maybe next year.
