For those of you who intend to use the camera to take birds, unless you are using bird feeders to attract birds or shooting large birds of prey, cameras that can only zoom up to 600mm max are USUALLY inadequate for the task. You will need something that can zoom up to 800mm and beyond. Where I come from, majority of my shots are taken within the range of 1200mm to 2000mm.
I also recommend the Fujifilm Finepix S1. Have used it. Loved it. Pros : 50x zoom Pretty colors Easy to use Very fast zoom Weather resistant Good for travelling due to small size Good ISO handling Cons : Only 16mp Shaky over 900mm (buy a tripod) Stabilisator isnt that good Only 1080p (video/photo) Small sensor, bad in low light, but in the hands of a pro, it can make nice low light photos. But do you really shoot in low light? My experience : I loved to shoot in the rain, tho I hated cleaning the lens because I was afraid to scratch it. Really good for flowers, macros (aaltough focus struggles a bit sometimes) really good for birding, landscapes and street photography. I highly recommend it!
You didn’t mention the P950 is a excellent Bridge Camera , I’ve captured stunning sunsets and unbelievable shots of the moon , as well as birds in sharp detail !!!
First: Lumix FZ300 with mini sensor and 12 Megapixels is BETTER than 1" sensor cameras? Definitely cheaper, but BETTER????? Second: RX100 VII is a "superzoom"???? 🤦🏻♂️
P950 or P900 is a good middle of the road offering, Panasonic FZ80 is a good budget superzoom, Sony RX10 with its 1 inch sensor is a good high end one, zoom might not be as high but image quality is exponentially better and has better specs overall but its more expensive.
anyone have any suggestion for non dslr to replace a canon ps sx430is, i like hybrid and some zoom w/o the problems dslr gives. also wish to travel and daily carry around to shoot nature and sometimes wildlife. ty AU, aus is problematic to get gear.
I am a new subscriber and a new fan. It seems like you very opinionated. Thank you so much for that. Here is my million dollar question. I have a Song dsc hx400v but my struggle is, (to my limited knowledge) it cannot be fitted with a Rode Wireless Go as it does not have a microphone jack. I found some adapters that can purchase, but…the receptacles on the camera are not wired internally for a microphone. I did find that Sony does make wireless external microphones that can connect but are not completely compatible with this model. Sound problems from what I have read, but I don’t know nothing about sound to know that it would bother me. Should I trash my idea of making sound work on this camera? Humor bagel and gilstrap tv are both RU-vid channels that I’m going to try and put my own spin on. Taking video from long-distance while having good audio, stability and focus while being discreet but not too creepy (lol) are big. Can you offer a recommendation that will do these? I’m really new to cameras so high end would probably be above my knowledge.
