If you glue a magnet to the back of the tape measure you can stick it to your little toolbox

Fat Max was my go to measuring tape when those first came out for woodworking lol. I have a cute little 11g Altoid tin I keep my sewing pins in. Kids are so creative aren't they? Not always in a good way LOL. Stanley's are usually good.

I kept hiding my measuring tape because I didn’t want anyone to see I was using a carpenters tape. The other measuring tape I use for body measurements only. I also have a keychain one and I don’t like it either.

Thanks for the info!! And I swear every time I use those plastic round ones it keeps flipping over to meters not inches!! And I'm not good at meters!!! Thanks Christa. I'll be watching tomorrow, my last physical therapy was yesterday!! I always had PT on Fridays and missed alot of your lives. I found a little carabiner 10 ft tape measure at the local Harbor Freight in the $1 bin. It is a little flimsy but clips to my project bag. I did carpentry back in the day so I have several 25 ft heavy duty tape measures. I love those because they remain stiff enabling 1 handed use for the length of the blanket. I have to check out the Stanley like yours!

I like the little tins. I’ve never looked on Amazon for them. I have the mint ones for safety pin and straight pins, etc. I like the small measuring tape. I’ll have to check out my hardware store. Good information. Thank you.

Carpenter tapes include the case in the measurement (measures up to 3feet). So the keychains might be 36 inches total, but still they do sound like they won't last. Love the Stanley version. Thank you so much for this info.

TIP: Either ut a stick on magnet on your tin & tape measure to hold your tape measure OR you can use velcro to hold it to your tin.

I usually don't need to measure anything large enough that the measuring tape twisting becomes an issue, so the little retractable sewer's measuring tapes suffice for me. I have several, and keep 1 at the computer desk where I crochet most often. (It comes in handy for measuring items I plan to sell on eBay, too!)

I save all my Altoid tins! They're too nice to throw out. I have safety pins, stitche markers etc in them but your tip about the little kit is wonderful!

I grew up with a bricklayer, my grandfather. My husbands family works with metal. So yeah, those flimsy tape measures for crocheters or seamstress are nothing for me. After my old one broke i snatched one of hubbys spare ones. Good quality, sturdy, not stretching out like those flimsy soft ones. Mine sits on my desk, where i crochet the most anyway.

Love the bloopers and extra at the end 😂 One year there was a multi pack of decent home improvement type tape measures in different sizes for Xmas. I bought 2 packs Mind you, there are only 2 of us in this little house. Open a random drawer or look on a bookshelf and you are likely to find a tape measure. Unless you need one.

I have that exact same Stanley tape measure! Well, two of them to be precise, I keep one in my tool bag and one in my craft room. I also have some cute little mini 2m retractable ones, quite narrow, that my local craft shop was selling for £1 each! They are fine for smaller projects. I have a couple of plastic boxes with full kits in, similar to your idea with the tins only a bit bigger. The boxes were about £3 eaxh from the same craft store. I love (a) a bargain and (b) rootling about in a craft store, so win/win!

I found a tape measure at the container store that had big numbers. I use so much that the metal part is falling off. I have been trying to find a type measure that I can see numbers. I thought about using a measuring tape from the tool department.

Christa you can probably hot glue a magnet on the back of that tape measure and it'll stick to your little tin and that way they would be stuck together

I have a keychain measuring tape from Stanley that measures out to 6 ft.. It’s called FATMAX. It’s super smooth on the retractability. It has a rubber-like casing for no slippage.

Great tips Christa but an added tip watch your fingers when retracting some of those metal measuring tapes can be quite sharp iv cut myself on them before like a paper cut , we don’t want you or your kids hurting your very precious fingers , hugs 😊Amanda xx💕
