From Act 1 all the way to the first ascendancy as a Templar with little to no levelling gear. This leveling / league start guide is for Path of Exile - Forbidden Sanctum (PoE 3.20). You can use this method for any Templar build (Inquisitor, Hierophant or Guardian) to lead into your end games skills.

Um, I have no doubt that this was helpful but to some one BRAND NEW, it was like talking advance math before they know what 2+2 give you. "I" would have found it really helpful to take some time to just explain basic building concept options like why if you do this it is good or bad. Why these gems are better, why chose the abilites and how they tie in with different gems. Also do you want to do ranged attack go this way, if you want to melee (if possible with this class) do this. Also basically explain what the strong and weak points of this class are. Is it better being stand of magic, can it do melee or not a good idea??? Etc.

@@RickBomhof Yes it can it's the first skill I killed uber elder with back in the day, it's been nerfed a few times since nut still really strong. The trick is to get 7 brands and use brand recall to rain down all 7 on bosses on repeat. Best of luck and thanks for watching!

Triclkster is an amazing ascendancy now. Very tanky. Not a fan of kalandra, but achieved what I wanted, trying out new builds types I wouldn't normally play like CI.

@@Altek2k yeah man CI just isn't that great rn but soon they will give it some love I'm sure. As for 3.20 I settled on a heatshiver trickster. Using nightblade with trinity I'm at about 30mil endgame. You should definitely check it out man I think it may be the best build I've ever played as a starter.

@@Altek2k trickster is HUGE with its more damage mod if you spec it right and the frenzy is super good. I don't use threshold jewels so the hit did even hurt there

Ok. I did all of it. I took Runesmith and Runebinder. I like the damage. And I like this ranged magic dps style. But my templar is squishy as hell! And I couldn't find any build guides that would continue developing your initial build. Where do you think I should go from here? The game doesn't let us reset skills (which is nuts and a waste, IMHO). So, now I'm kinda stuck with this build unless I start all over on a fresh character. I don't understand why they design it this way, but at this point, I'm kinda lost. I think you should make a part 2 of this guide where you can explain what to do through the entire campaign, not just the first 3-4 acts.

I do have an old build for this. Let me try and put together a new one this weekend, at least a good starting point for you. The reason I only normally go to act 4 is this is when most players swap out for their end game skills. Some skills are bad to level with early so you tend to go for what works fastest. You can modify the tree, Throughout the campain you can pick up around 21 refund points. Later in the games you can drop regret orb. Using these will give you refund points. If you want to stick with armageddon brand go heirophant.

The tree is just as a guide it's basically a tree to support the early game and it's very elemental based. If your end game build is not elemental then you can reduce tree adjustments by following the end game tree but you will lose damage in the early game. It's all just tradeoffs. @@verutor4244 Yes this works for any build. it;s really just the right skills to level early. If you are using an elemental skill at endgame then there will be less switching out when you move to your end game build.

@@brianr5165 You eigther want wands or scepters. For mods you are looking for spell damage, elemental damage, cast speed, x to x added fire dame to spells, you won't be able to get all of them early. But that is generally what you are looking for. Note that any added damage will be good but it must have to spells or it won't apply. For spells the weapon isn't overly important early becuase the spells gain damage as they level up. If you are doing attacks then most of the damage scales off of your weapon instead and doesn't gain a lot while levelling. Killing Fidelitas Gruest Herald of ice Helena Herald Of Ash OR Herald of Thunder (Eigther 1 (Not Both) - Dependant on socket pressure) After we kill the weaver Controlled destruction (Quest) Elemental Focus (Buy) for Later For the bandits, we are going to kill all of them unless your end build calls for something different. This is the only class I suggest you do this on at leasge start and only because our tree gives us loads of local all-res. We make no changes now untill we get to act 3 so rust the vaal Oversoul and head to act 3. Hope this helps!

@@Altek2k That's a quick awnser damn :). When you show the ability links you have a column for level on the right. It either has nothing in it, a + or a 2. What do you mean with that? Am I supposed to level all gems whenever I can or keep certain gems on a certain level?

I'm trying to follow... but when we started picking up a lot of gems i lost what we were putting where? Do you have a break down for how to slot all of the gems mentioned? I understood the Left Click - Rolling Magma and Right click - Flame Totem... but once you added Armaggedon Brand... I lost the track of what my attack sequence should be for rolling normal mobs vs bosses and what gem go where :( Maybe have a build breakdown for each act? Might be easier to follow.

Being an early game levelling guide I don't want to push into anything specific, because your end game, if not totems based would have to roll it off. So I keep it as generic as possible on a path that most build would follow whilst synergising withe the most effective early game skills. Not that the +15% all res has gone, we skip that mastery early. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Still waiting for the 3.21 release of pob before I go in and update them all. Note that this is a not an endgame build and just a levelling guide to help you start the build fast and get to a point where the majority of end game skills become viable to use for the rest of the way to maps.

@@blackroc01 Skill points beyond what is on the tree would be whatever is in the guide you're following. A lot of people have been recommening righteous fire inquisiter for the last few leagues but I'm not sure what state it will be in after all the patch drops on friday because a lot is changing with regards to reservation efficency. If you're interested in these skills then @PohxKappa seems to be the one with the most recommended build. @@blackroc01 You only need enough of each of the attributes to run the gear and levelled gems. Early the build is tight for dexterity and strength. Dexterity should be the priority.

I watched a guy use fencoil with Ice Nova spamming traps, I'm sticking to that now, but Is it any good? I use Raise Zombie to speedrun through minions so I also upgraded Minion damage on that tree, is that any good?

If you have levelling gear then a lot more works. This was really in a league start scenario when you would have nothing unique. I have always struggled to get minions to work early because the're not very aggressive except for the wolf ring with a corruption that removes the level requirements. I was purely going off what I tried with no gear and went with the fastest solution. I tried zombies with SRS and it was not as fast for levelling to 4 as this. I also didn't use anything that you couldn't get from quest or buy. Not sure this entirely answer your question but hope it helps.

I am not that new to the game but I haven't really tried having a templar build. So I did it a while ago, levelling him with a Unique Iron Staff. Even with that, after coming from classes like Ranger and Nightblade, I can confidently say the levelling process of Templar is utter dogshit lmaooo

I didn't find it that bad, it's never going to stand up to some of the early game melee skills though if you keep your weapon upgraded, but if you are unlucky on a melee they are easier because you don't need any gear for it. Thanks for watching!

I try and keep my main links off my weapon and boots if possibe while levelling early so I can swap them out at will. Check vendors for replacement gear you can swap your gems into. It is very rarely worth dropping a gem to swap items. If you pick up any of the socket crafting curreny you can also try changing the sockets but that is extreamly risky early on. When you mess up, roll a new character or switch out skills for something that can use the same supports. You can also respec small mistakes out of the tree using refund points from quests or using orbs of regrest. @@keepitshort4208 personally I couldn't live without at minimum the currency tab and a quads tab pack and at least a premium tab for trade if you don't play exclusively ssf. I have bought way more than I use over the years but that is what I would look at as a minimum if you're going to invest decent time into the game. Hope this helps.

This tree is just a strong start to get you to the first ascendancy (The first acts are the slowest). Templar playing a totem build is great for sanctum, I played one early on, but I didn't like the totem play style so I rolled an SRS totem. Keep checking the vendors. Each time you level their inventory is reset. Alternatively one could drop. The last way is to use a chrommatic orb on another 3 link wand and hope you hit tripple blue. Thanks for watching!

It is so weird. I am almost level 30 still in act 2? There is a boss at the end, everything gets dark and you have to kill him. How the F am I going to do that? First I tried at level 24, that abviously did not work. Now I tried at level 30, the same, I do close to zero damage on it and he kills me within 2 strikes. I have done all other quests and need to move on to act 3 I guess but it is impossible to kill that boss. Do I need to get some kind of token or something?

You should be able to kill him. But he is quite tanky as are the adds. Are you running out of mana during the fight, if so buy a bigger mana flask or two from the vendors. Make sure you deploy the flame totem and put the projectiles through the flame wall. Generaly you want to manouver round him in a circle as you attack and keep close. If rocks fall from the ceiling run around the edge of the arena keeping the turret on him till it stops. If he goes for a slam, jump behind him. Hope this helps!

@@Altek2k yeah I will certainly try. Also found out I could have picked better specs from the talent tree to do more damage. No problem, with complex settings as these, you have to try a few times to get it right. But everything else just melts in front of me, and then there is this guy 🤣.

@@valks8981 It's not an easy game to get into. I gave up in act 2 the first time I tried. When I came back and finally started to understand how everything worked I was hooked. I still only know about 30% of the game mechanics and I have a tonne of hours. I am working on a beginner guide to add to my PoE 101 series that walks through act 1 pointing out why I choose the things I do that may help. Hoping to get it out on Friday. I would stick with it. Everyone struggles at the start. Best of luck!

This is only a guide to levelling the first ascendancy not an end game build guide. If you do want to six link armageddon brand then I would suggest. Armageddon Brand - Inspiration - Fire Pen - Conc Eff - Immolate - Combustion. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
