No matter how much time passes, no matter how many times I play terraria or what class I end up playing, I can always come to this channel for helpful insight for one of my favorite games! I’m currently doing my first ever melee only play through and will likely come back whenever I do my first summoner only play through (I tend to play mostly mage but sometimes ranger), that won’t be for a while lol but I hope to return here when I do :)
Its been a few months since i last watched you but i just want to say man you are killing it keep doing what your doing thanks for all the help over the years
I was exactly looking for that guide, thanks man. I play Terraria since launch but never really played a complete melee run. But since buffs I want to play it.
To struggling with fighting the eye of cuthlu to then fighting and killing the moon lord this will always be my guide thank you for helping me beat terraria
If you want to update your video, you can get the melee class specific ancient shadow armour from eater or souls before any bosses have been defeated. It gives the same melee buffs as the shadow armour but you can get it at the beginning of the game.
I love the “love” to the yo-yo up until obtaining a zenith I find yo-yos really good and viable considering the fact you only need 1 accessory to double their dps over multiple damage increasing emblems for other items such as terra blade influx and so on so you can sacrifice some slots for more tanky things and use the yo-yo + toy bag alone and still have a good or decent dps
Ancient shadow armor is actually obtainable pre-boss. In corruption worlds, I find it easy to just set up a lava auto-farm box with a water candle up in the air just far enough to where worms can’t hit you and go do something else.
True! Nice strategy. I wouldn't push new players straight into that kind of farming, though, and I tend to make my guides with them in mind (even though it is an old game with a long term playerbase).
Ya know, for as many Terraria you tubers as there are, nobody really covers things in such valuable detail. Not only that, but you provide a nice amount of personal experience and preferences. Your content is a perfect alternative to the wiki in video format, and provides highlights for broader subjects. Thank you very much.
Old video I know but as of 1.4.1.x Mythril Armor is also an alternative to Titanium Armor, Adamantite Armor, and Frost Armor for melee specifically early hardmode. In exchange for some mobility bonuses(and DOT for frost armor), you get better DPS on non melee - speed DPS affected melee weapons.
Cursed inferno was buffed? I’m actually super relieved. Prior to 1.4; frostburn, a pre-boss debuff, had higher DPS than cursed inferno, a hardmode debuff. I can finally say with certainty that cursed inferno is a decent debuff.
Yeah, it used to always strike me as crazy how much weaker it was compared to some of the others. So I guess they eventually realized that as well, and finally decided to do something about it.
Great video! Just wanted to comment on the smashing 6-9 altars, As a mastermode player, there is no point smashing more than three altars, if you have done your work with hellavators (slime mount down superfast) then you can (because I did) rush through the the three tiers of orbs in 30 minutes easily with mining potions and spelunker potions, SKIP EVERYTHING except getting the the pickaxes anvils and the adamantite/titanium forge, I got full adamantite armour and equipment within 30 minutes, get the lowest ore to get the first pickaxe, TP to base, build it, get back down a hellavator for the next one, rinse repeat, I needed two lots of buff potions, mined in lava layer where its less dangerous (not corruption or hallow), easy... I remember when I wasnt experienced and tried to go through the tiered weapons and armour one at a time, it took a couple of hours DONT make this mistake! Rush them! Then, farm for a beam sword (skeleton guardians cavern layer), then farm hallowed mimics for the daedolus storm bow, you are now equipped to manage the start of hardmode mastermode, this game is simply knowledge and experience to sae a lot of time, there are other ways of course, but this is how I got on top of hardmode within a coupe of hours but... I had made a mob farm before hardmode to farm and fight mimics so there s some work to do first
Just some quick things regarding the featuring of the cloud in a bottle: First and foremost, it can be combined with the shiny red balloon, and later to the white horseshoe balloon. Pretty damn good jump-related accessories. Secondly, it’s actually the worst of the double jump bottles, with the exception of tsunami in a bottle which is statistically identical, harder to get, and harder to upgrade. If your world has a pyramid, there’s no reason not to use the sandstorm in a bottle. It’s objectively the best double jump bottle. However, given that’s very unlikely, there are two other options. If you get lucky and a whoopie cushion drops from a worm, fart in a bottle, while making me feel physically dirty using it, is objectively the second best. However, if you don’t get that either, blizzard in a bottle is probably the one for you. It’s just as easy to get as cloud but way better. So realistically, there’s no reason to use cloud in a bottle if it’s not very early game or you get massively screwed over by RNG.
All true. I just didn't want to get into unnecessary detail there, hence I offhandedly mentioned combining bottles and balloons in a more general sense as well.
@@tuscanollie1242 Okay? First off, people watching this video aren’t guaranteed to watch his others. Also, comments make the algorithm happy. I’m actually benefiting him overall with my heavy comment load.
1:45 There is atleast 1 melee class specific armour, you can get basically at the start of the game. (even before any bosses) The Ancient Shadow Scale armour is probably the best early game melee armour (have only 1 defense less than plat with set bonus, due to all the individual peices having 1 more defense than the plat counterpart), as well as having 21% increased melee speed and 15% moving speed. It is corruption only, and a 0.19% drop per peice, but a simple AFK farm can get it + increase spawn potions. It may also be too much effort to farm, since it is only useful for atleast eye and maybe eater, before you swap to molten armour. Otherwise, great video!
True, true. I generally avoid recommending things that require that level of effort, assuming most people watching will be newer players, but it is quite possible to get.
@@grobeman you definitely succeeded in this. I use your guides for everything i need help with. Sometimes it would be nice to know how to get an item, as I had issues with finding boomstick and feral claws as I usually don't explore the jungle other than for spores before queen bee
Early game before you get the shadow/crimson armor you could use the gi from the traveling merchant for it’s 5% dmg/crit and 10% movement/melee speed combine with just some high defense helmet and pants And even the gladiator armor it’s a good option for it’s knock back immunity before you get the cobalt shield
@@grobeman Rare? Nothing seems too rare when you max out your luck for all or most things it effects!!! I've had a very easy time finding rare things especially hardmode things. I believe I had all the mimic items within a day or 2 of farming.
Yeah, they take a heck of a lot of time, and I have another job and a family, lol. But yeah I'm trying to optimize my efforts, probably won't be doing playthroughs on this channel anymore because they take way too much time to edit, so mostly just guides after I finish the current playthrough series.
Tip: use Queen Slime mount and Shadowflame knife for pre mech boss Duke Fishron fight, and you can easily no hit him without any wings or dashes. Then you will get Flairon which you will use it until the Solar Pillar!

Thanks to your guides I've gotten past the wall of flesh and am loving hard mode now!! Fantastic videos always easy to understand with humour and just a really laidback seminar of info it's great
True, I didn't want to draw it out even further but there are certainly a lot of good possibilities beyond and between the trees you spawn next to, and getting to the higher tiers.
To be honest, you can skip cactus armor entirely and try to get the armors that GrobeMan described early game instead, whether u get the cactus armor or not is still a choice in the end.
I defeated plantera golem 4 pillars and finished the game with defeating moon lors in 1 day of 7 hours of grinding now I am gonna grind for all classes first I am goin melee so thx for this
I played so much terraria leading up to Journey's End then started anew when it released. Haven't played since then though and I cannot BELIEVE it has actually been that long. Now I have a pc where I can enjoy gaming on I (obviously) bought terraria on steam to enjoy going through it all again. Honestly I've actually been enjoying a slow ride this time, as much as I'm dying to get into hard mode and my brain is constantly divided between all the things I want to get and know I need, and confusing myself a bit because I can't remember what's available before WoF or after. I made a character and started a world that I told myself was just a throwaway world to grab crimson stuff and reacquaint myself with the game but 19 hours in I'm chilling building things and having an "OH YEAH I FORGOT ABOUT THAT" moment every 20 minutes and overpreparing for hardmode getting annoyed at the low spawn of hell critters for fishing until I don't need them. If this is a throwaway world I can't begin to think how connected to my main master mode world I will get, I'm having flashbacks already lol. Love the videos, although I will apologise I'm not watching them all the way through right now, I want to try and refresh my memory, make sure I haven't forgot anything and see if anything has changed as well as go forward as though I've never played it before for the little ah ha moments. I'll be sure to come back to give you a full view after in appreciation for your work :D
Also felt the need to say I've been watching bits of your more recent/still relevant guides, like the gardening one as I don't recall herbs really changing since way back, and it wasn't something I heavily invested in before. So while that wasn't recent it was still relevant. I wouldn't ask you to update any outdated info at all, the work you put in is commendable! I did think however that it would be cool to see you do class specific playthroughs. There aren't many people that do vanilla runs that know the game so well. I might be weird though, I knew a fair bit about this game and enjoy watching people play in its purest form. It's just something I feel is more fun to watch, like I'm (ugh I hate to say this word but I think it's the only way to accurately explain the correlation) a "verteran" in both The Binding Of Isaac and Stardew Valley... I mean I know the games inside and out whether I like it or not.. but both of them are extremely popular in the modding community. I love modding but idk, I've got levels, for games I love inside and out I can't enjoy watching random mods with no consistency, I'd rather just see if even for me there's something I can learn or whatever. You never stop learning tbh, there's always some stupid little thing you probably overlooked or overthinked and missed the obvious. Anyway cheers man lol
Simple advice but it will be stuck in your head because of that satisfying voice✨ ( And also , the bunny Mount can be obtained from the 5th fishing quest , it's always at the 5th quest , this might help) *I'm a fishing addict 🤣
Bro I started a nwnc and I’m 2 days in with my brother and we are already past golem. Before we used ask for stuff or steal it but this time we played legitimately and your guides have been a big help👍🏽 you should keep up the videos
@@grobeman yo I feel like you don’t get enough respect for your vids man you def deserve a lot more than 100k. Your detailed guides that you put a lot of time in are way better than a lot of these random unimportant vids that these terraria youtubers come out with
The wiki gives specific percentage movement speed boosts for each tier of food. My experience also, is that I clearly move faster after consuming food.
@@grobeman Most movement percentage boosts only increase acceleration, the only exception is the 75% boost on sand provided by dunerider boots. I’ve actually measured maximum speed with the stopwatch, it doesn’t make a difference.
This is outdated. You would use the new Knight's Edge until True Knight's Edge and then Terra Blade. That's is how OP it is now. Except for a very small amount of time where Excalibur can be slightly better. But then you defeat the rest of the mechanical boss's and it becomes a crafting material. I grinded for all of the things listed for melee around the mechanical boss and Queen Slime parts, they aren't very good in general. The Knight's Edge has a big radius that essentially acts as a shield and does tons of damage. Yes the Ice Brand and Ice Sickle have a little bit of range but if you want a ranged melee weapon then just use the Shadow Flame Knife which lasts to True Knights Edge. This weapon has really strong projectiles that pretty much make the Shadow Flame Knife obsolete, so I switched to Mega Shark and then after Plantera the Venus Magnum. If you're aiming for Zenith (I assume so) then you won't have to worry about grinding for the Venus Magnum, because you'll be grinding for the Seedler... It says on the Wiki that it has the same chance to drop as almost everything else. THAT IS BULLSHIT! I got multiple copies of everything before getting it, and even the rare developer vanity set. Make a big arena, Queen Slime mount still works really well and frees up accessory slots.
Flying dragon is op man i tried it once in for the worthy mastermod e and i manage to defeat moonlord with only that weapon same does for sky dragons fury but has more dps is because of the projectiles.
Warrior is by far the worst class in the game. For proof, I recently did a run where I had to defeat every boss at least four times, once for every class. I could not defeat WoF even with buffs for warrior, and with every other class I one-tried it buff-free.
I was never particularly attracted to the melee/warrior class myself, but I do like to try everything and cover everything. There's a reason I included other options for that fight, and in a few other places.
its my first time playing the game and played expert mode with a friend, im playing melee and on the moon lord but struggling to understand all the strats to kill it, which one is the easiest to do as ive never killed it?
Either a long asphalt bridge with wings, or if you have a lot of time you can build a huge flooded arena or floating bubbles of water/honey and use the Cute Fishron mount.
What's the post moon lord best melee, ranged, magic and summoner? Been playing 1.3 melee playthrough and wanted to do a summon or ranged 1.4 master mode play through and not very wise on accessories
Best melee is solar flare armor and the zenith. Best summoner is stardust armor and probably the terraprisma, although that's debatable, stardust dragon is good too. Best mage is arguably nebula armor (spectre still has its benefits), and the last prism. Best ranged is vortex armor and the sdmg. I'm just getting these 1.4 class guides done now, lol. Melee and summoner are done, still need to do magic and ranged. My 1.3 ranged class guide is still mostly fine, my mage guide wasn't really the best.
It's been upgraded, that's not the only thing it does anymore. It has a chance to completely dodge damage, which makes it very useful for most of the game.
