As a Londoner, I feel like we really take our great city for granted. There’s so many amazing places to see and things to do in London - this was a brilliant video highlighting some of these things!
Learning lots even though as a kid (12 years) in the 70s , I used to wander around central London whilst my dad attended meetings. London has improved immeasurably since then, as it was pretty grim and restaurants often shut by 10pm!!. Charing cross used to be excellent for books, and I assume Foyles (massive book shop) is still going
I’m coming in two weeks, and let me tell you, all of your advice and videos have really helped me feel more comfortable with coming as a solo traveler. Thank you for what you do! ☺️
It must be really hard to make these videos, because even for Londoners (like me) there is so much its overwhelming. Really good choices in this video, for anyone visiting London this video is so useful for you.
The little half timbered hut behind you in the opening shot also featured in the film 84 Charing Cross Road with Anthony Hopkins. The story is about a woman from New York who had been unable to find certain book titles and then contacts this bookseller in London. The building that housed the bookshop still exists today (now a McDonald’s) and the apartment house in New York at 305 East 72nd Street has been renamed “Charing Cross House”.
Ahh your videos are just so interesting to watch and I love themm! We're planning a 3 day trip to London in mid July and I've wanted to go my whole life! I really can't wait, your advice just makes it feel like my trip will be so much more worthwhile, thank you so much!
That's so nice of you to say, thank you so much! If you're here for 3 days do have a look at my 3-Day London Itinerary: shop.loveandlondon.com/products/3-day-london-itinerary
Hello from Prince Edward Island, Canada. After discovering your videos recently, I have become a huge fan of what (all?) you do. I hope you prosper, and hope to contribute to your success in the near future. Cheers, Todd.
Jess, We used the info from several of your videos which made our recent trip SO much richer. 2 comments: TootBus disappointed because the bus was old, noisy, audio didn't work well, so we bailed and enjoyed a great 5 --mile walk from Trafalgar along the Thames back up to Tower Hill. TootBus left us wanting again because we couldn't locate their stopping point and frankly, several of the competitors came and went without a TootBus in the mix (ergo, longer wait between rides). We enjoyed a GREAT pub meal at the Swan at Holborn ... super food, welcoming staff, and a LOT of history hung on its walls. Stayed at the Thistle Holborn next door, serviceable, comfy, clean and served a wonderful breakfast buffet which carried us through to dinner. Cannot thank you enough for all of the good advice about the Tube, caught surface trains in from the airport, to/from Windsor Castle and Greenwich Museum and observatory complex. Best laugh of the trip came on return train into London when kind attendant explained that we were on the wrong train. I asked how it happened, since the platform sign listed our destination and the logo on our tickets matched the one on the front of the train. Kind attendant explained that yes, that was all true, but the tickets weren't for that train. I asked how we could have told the difference as the train arrived ... her reply was "by the length of the train". The geek in me wanted to ask how one sees a train's length when it's coming straight at you ... but kind attendant fixed it all by saying "don't worry, we won't pitch you off!" Loved it!
Ah yes we generally don't recommend those hop on hop off buses, they're sooooooo touristy and not our vibe. Glad you found our other tips helpful and you enjoyed your trip!! ❤️❤️❤️
I love The Attendant cafe, glad you picked that one up. Highly recommend the bacon brioche there. Also enjoy the Swedish cafe opposite it (Scandikitchen)
I love London, and I like your video so much!!! Long long time ago, I used to stay in UK as a student, and my younger son is going to study at Uni in London from this Sep, so I would like to visit London during his stay. I will watch all of your video for updating London.
That's great! Glad you're enjoying them :) Also have a look at our London guides in our shop: shop.loveandlondon.com the guides have all of my best recommendations!
Love your videos! Super informative. We're visiting London during the weekend of the Jubilee. Do you have tips on waiting for the parade on the 2nd? I read that you can wait around the park..?

Hi. I’m traveling to Southampton in 2 months. Does the public transportation (tube, bus) stop running at a certain time? We are traveling from Southampton to South London.
Hello, I'll probably go to London by end of August, and would like to know where is the best place in London to buy classic British clothes, like tweed etc, Thanx!
Vintage shops can be good for that, or secondhand. Try around Notting Hill. But just FYI most people only wear tweed if they are going hunting (ugh) or if they're SUPER posh ;)
Hi I'm watching you way from New providence Bahamas and I moving from New providence Bahamas to UK for good in July I can't wait to come over there for good
Hello, Jason from Texas. I just got bk from Athens Greece 🇬🇷 and I was told London is another place to go shopping for leather jackets, bags, etc. (I'm not talking about your designer styles) lol. I have booked my trip for the last weekend of may and hv been watching your videos since I've never been there. With that said are the markets the best places to find real leather, or can u point me to the right places?
Hi Jason, we have amazing vintage shops and markets here which are great for secondhand leather. You can start with this video for recommendations: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H-cXkJq4ogg.html&t
"you'll never struggle to find a place to drink in central london" ahaha you are right, i will never struggle to find the PLACE, but will it have any tables available? if you want to go drinking on the weekend anywhere near Soho, do yourself a favour and book in advance because its going to be packed
@love and London will you a video on HmS Belfast. My 9 year old idolizes you and is also a big history and military buff. Would love to get your point of view
@@loveandlondon I know, London’s a big city. He puts a lot of production and performing behind his videos. Yours are very informative too. Thank you for posting them.
Hello. Thank you so much for these great videos. I have a 7+ hour layover on my way to Rome this Friday. I’d like to hire a driver to get me to Windsor for a couple of hours. We can easily make it back with 3 hours to spare. Should I chance it? What kinds of issues might I expect as an American leaving, then reentering the airport?
Jess is always so cool ! Also a vegetarian which I am as well so that is cool too! Thanks for these great tips for we will be in the UK in about 10 days !! Can't wait to visit England once again !
Dear Jess. I watch all of your videos and would just like to say that each and everyone are 1st class... Highly recommended to view... Top draw... Stay safe Poppet...
Dear Jess. I love your videos and I loved your Caledonian sleeper train experience video. By the way I love your hair and you've got great taste in clothing. You've got great dress sense as well. Could you do a ladies clothes shopping guide to London? Could you make it quite a long video taken in Camden Market. Oxford Street. Regent Street and Westfield London etc? Also could you do a fabric shop and clothes making shop guide to London as well? Yours faithfully. Pure.
Hi there, thanks for your comment. I don't recommend a lot of those places for shopping as many of them are filled with fast fashion which is ruining the planet and exploit their workers. We have amazing vintage shopping here, this video is a good start: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H-cXkJq4ogg.html&t
Awesome video.. Love it!! BTW.. am traveling with family arriving at Heathrow around 6 am but don't have the option to chkin until 3pm. Where can we freshen up in the city(shower etc) and drop luggage till chechkin time.
Thanks ! Drop luggage at your hotel, to shower you can look into booking an arrival-side lounge that would allow you to freshen up before going into the city.
Went to central London for 1 week, as a sole traveler it was fine but encountered several racism experiences. As Asian I would avoid coming to London or come with a group.
When I toured the UK last year they told me that the Shambles in York was the inspiration for Diagon Alley. I could see both being true but I wonder which one actually was?
I just started watching your channel. I am going to London for my birthday and all your advice is Amazing thank you so much for all your knowledge !!!!
Hello arriving in London on Christmas Day. Suggestions on transportation and where to eat on Christmas Day please and thank you for your suggestions on Aparthotel. Staying at Wilde tower bridge.
I'll be in London this November. I lived in England for a couple years... That was 30 yrs ago so Im watching videos etc to try and remember what getting around in London is like. What is the typical weather like in November? If I remember right, it's a little on the cooler side. And rainy of course. :).
Hi L&L!! Do. you have any advice for people that are planning to move to London for 6 months from America on a tourist visa? Like where to find cheap flats close to the tube etc.
You won't have the right to legally rent a flat so your best bet is to do some subleases off SpareRoom.com or check out this article that has our reccs for longer stays: loveandlondon.com/best-hotels-in-london-for-long-stays/
So glad to hear it, thanks so much! Be sure to grab one of our itineraries as well: shop.loveandlondon.com/collections/itineraries They come with digital maps, tons of recommendations, and lots of helpful extras to make sure you have a London trip your friends will be jealous of 😎
Don't know if you already done a video about finding a public toilet but that would really interest me :-) I remember last time in London a few years ago and I could'nt find one
If you have one of our guides, we have public toilets marked off on the digital maps that come with every guide we sell! See them in our shop: shop.loveandlondon.com
Will The Mousetrap be running before Christmas time like on 23rd or 24th of December ? If yes, where can we buy tickets for that ? It will be a huge help if you could answer this since I am a huge Agatha Christie's fan ❤
Hi there I’ve been watching your videos and I found them very handful. Tomorrow I’m going to visit my friends and family in London and I was wonder how much do you think I should paid on my Oyster card for travel from zone 6 to 1 for 4 days. Thank you in advance I hope you can give a response asap :)
Planning my trip to London and your video has helped so much in my planning. Appreciate the information that u shared in your various videos. Just wondering if I'm going in November, does hotels have heater in the room if it's cold?
So glad to hear it Shelyn! Most hotels will have heat but always good to check on the room listing to make sure it does. You can see all of our accommodation advice here: loveandlondon.com/category/london-accommodations/
I will be going to Oxford for my research and wanted to explore London at the weekends. I have never been away from home on my own so its quite a challenge but I am looking forward to it. Following your videos
