Looks cool! I got my first Kalimba today and I taught myself a couple songs. I play cello, I bought a Kalimba as a second side instrument. It truly creates one of the most beautiful sounds! Love it 😊
Aww i love it! Ugh it was my dream to play the cello before. I just love how deep the sound is yet how romantic it can be. I'm so glad you are loving the Kalimba 😍
I have the same one and I love using it everyday. Lingting tines are super nail friendly. The first kalimba I had, (which was just a cheaper hollow type) got a lot of dead and stiff tines. I replaced them with authentic Lingting key of B/C replacement tines that I have bought from shopee for only P350. Voila! now it sounds like a high end kalimba. lol. :)
I really enjoyed this video. I am totally new to the Kalimba. As of today, mine hasn't even made it here yet :) Your reviews and videos have been very helpful. This is the first video I have watched with someone showing the difference in covering the holes in the back. Wow! What a difference in volume! I received my LT-K17G Kalimba yesterday, it is Very Nice, and loud, plays really well, I really like it. I also have the LT 21W kalimba Loving that one too.
nice review as always! i've always leaned into g tones because lower pitched sounds helps me relax more and the only g tone kalimba i know has 15 keys so i'm glad that there's an option that has 17 keys! 😅
Bought this exact kalimba a few days ago. Considering it's my first ever kalimba, it's a joy to play and I can highly recommend this kalimba for anyone
I apologize, Tip, I missed the premiere... but to be fair, It was scheduled for 3am my time, so while I wanted to be there, It doesn't surprise me that as I waited for it, my body fell sound asleep. 😴 I watched the review now, though, and that kalimba looks neat!

My Kalimba does have the back two acoustic holes, and I didn't think covering them would make a difference! I'll have to try that out when it's not late at night and would wake up my siblings 😆
Apparently I've been thinking about buying a good hollow type kalimba for 2 months now but being a shopaholic, I end up buying something else instead. I had 2 hollow type kalimba from those cheap OEM no brand manufacturer. They are decent, I can like them but I always hoping for something better and then after watching your review I think you just helped me to decide what is "better" and I found the answer now. This seems to be very decent and I think I will buy this instead of those from Gecko because as we knew it, LINGTING provide the best value for money, they will give you plenty of extra free stuff that probably useless but who cares, everybody love free gifts. This will be the 2nd kalimba I bought only after watching your review. I have 7 kalimba, 1 in B and the rest are all in C so I think it's good to have the G in the family. From the Shopee link you provide the price is PHP 1,880.00 - luckily in Malaysia we can get this slightly cheaper (PHP1,391.00 not much though). Now I need to start thinking, which Disney Princess sticker should I put on this kalimba when I got it next time. On the other hand, my only complain (after watching your review) is that LingTing did not provide the standard "letter + number" combo stickers. I hate the "numbers" only sticker and even worse LingTing provide a separate "letters" only sticker. It's like they realized about their mistake at the very last minute before rolling out production and they come up with that solution hoping we will be OK with it.... sigh.... for now, let's ADD TO CART.

Now, thanks to your tips, reviews, comments (and listening to a looooot of kalimba covers), I was about to order a LingTing flatboard K21W. (long sustainable resonance, including on high end tines, soft and easy-to-press tines, and *of course* a flatboard, and why not get the one with more tines) But then I went into more of your channel content for learning tabulations, tuning, … and, why not, hollow kalimbas reviews just for the pleasure to listen in. And this review on LingTing K17G really got me hesitant. LingTing yes, but K21W or K17G ? May I ask you : which of the two models do you prefer personally or would recommend (or maybe for which music style) ? I’m looking for a kalimba on which I can learn beyond beginner level into intermediate. (note : piano and transverse flute background though long time I didn’t touch an instrument) (note bis : I like the wide 21 key ranges, it adds depth to the music, but equally the vibratio/"wah wah" effect of hollow kalimbas but maybe that can be done with flatboards too in a different manner ?) If budget allows, I'd go for both! But it's up to you on what is more of a priority to you now. Is it to express your creative side by having a bigger range? But this question and comment from you point me out that I like full range for, yes, expressing all subtle tones which music (or life) is made of. And I came across a few tips to do vibrato/"wah wah" effects with a flatboard Kalimba (do you have some yourself? maybe another video to come ? ;) ). So it seems for now it will be LingTing K21W. And considering how fast I can become addicted to a hobby ^^" (yeah I can relate to your "don't judge me" part from your 35 questions last video), it's likely in the long run I try out a hollow Kalimba, just out of curiosity ;). I bought it but I have a problem and I hope you help me in it 😅🙈, the keys vibrate for too long and that's make it hard to play because when I touch them they give a very noisy sound So how can I stop that ?

Laki ng price diff sa laz at shopee hehe. I just bought my Kalimba worth P399 from a local manufacturer and yung end tines din talaga ang prob ko kaya ang napplay ko lang ay yung songs na may low notes. Pag mas natutunan ko na yung paggamit ng kalimba magiinvest ako sa ganito hehe

Awww thank you for reaching till the end. ❤️ Well, the k17A is tuned to C, while this is in the G tone. I personally like this Gtone more. Though i think Beginners will find the k17A easier to play since most of the available tabs are based on the C tone kalimba. :)
Pwede nyo pa po ba ulit gawan ng Part 2 yung video nyo na "Changing your kalimba tone" kung bakit po may numbers sa tabi nung letter :< Wala po akong kaalam alam sa musical Instruments kaya sana po matulungan nyo ako or yung iba pang hindi alam iyon. Yeeey! Love it Pee! I think they tried to make the shape of the body ergonomic, meaning it follows the natural shape or direction of a human hand. So holding it will feel more natural and comfortable for the player, to decrease any stiffness or pain on the wrist. Yung bilog naman na acrylic e to increase mobility of fingers. Example you need to play LH and RH sa Left keys ganon... Mas madali sya abutin. Ergonomic din kasi yung pang reach mo ng other hand, circular ang direction ng wrist mo... Haha! Observations ko lang. ❤️ You look blooming! #raspberry
Comprei a LT-K17P, agora esperar para se deleitar no som da kalimba, enquanto isso, irei treinar no celular 😁. Irei comprar mais 3 kalimbas para não alterar a afinação de fábrica. Gecko k17M (C), HLURI 21 (F) e LT-K17Geq (G). Fiz comparação através dos seus vídeos e outros, essas marcas e modelos nessas afinações me pareceram ser as melhores opções do mercado atualmente.

Hi! Well, i did try to paint one of my kalimbas (whole body, front, side, and back,) and i think because of the layer which was quite thick, the sound did became different. Though i do see some kalimba players who did try to paint theirs and it was fine. So i guess it really depends. After experiencing this i ended up going with stickers instead :)
Tip's Kalimba ı planed but ı changed my mind after your answer because ı dont want to damage my kalimba. So ı think some small outlines is enough for painting😅
Ate I have a question po. If you will tune it to the key of C major, will the tines change? I mean, will the end keys become stiff as a result of tuning the end tines? Idk how this works so 😭

@@TipsKalimba Actually, you made the premiere appear on the sub feed At like 1:30am my time, so while the premiere didn't actually show until 3, I was able to leave the comment well before the premiere started, just so you know. (The comment section opens when the premiere is made public, not when it shows.) I tried to be up at 3am and make that sacrifice, but I fell asleep Shortly after posting this comment, which was quite brief. 😅
