You say you need lots of grapes cos you sell champagne through docklands. Then you really do need to check out Fox Gaming. It blew my mind that Doc Ali Zahir on half a new world island could produce enough passive grapes to supply 2x investor islands. All that new world space saved needing no grape farms, not to mention the oil saved not using tractors. I think your pretty spot on with most of your tier placements but you are doing Doc Ali Zahra great disservice and insult putting him so low. The guys S tier when you take into account the space and oil saved and the ability to literally do away with grape production. Only requirement is a trade route.

If you go and watch most of my videos on the channel then you'll see that I am doing just fine with grapes with a combination of other specialists. I'm familiar with Fox and his videos but nothing he does is new to me.... Just because I am a beauty builder doesn't mean I don't know much about the game. I appreciate the advice but I don't really have any problems with producing anything haha... I'm sharing my knowledge and experience with others.
@grahamfox7568

Been following you a long time, its your videos got me playing the game competently, especially these types of vids. But you asked us to comment if we disagreed. On Doc Al Zahir I def think you have been too harsh on him. The fact he can produce enough grapes to do away with grapes altogether in Trawlawney and the old world means you save a ton of space and oil and possibly be the only guy you would ever need as he could provide the grapes to make the champagne to buy everything else required in docklands. THAT WOULD BE AN INTERESTING CHALLENGE LOL. I also like to beauty build and am sad enough to have built myself a home and vineyards on the Left hand cliffs over looking crown falls. (Yep really sad). Vineyards and their factories are probably the prettiest chain in the game and I probably won't stop using them. But Doc Ali ZAhir really is that powerful in a min max style of playthrough that he really doesn't deserve to be that low. Unless of course your thinking only from a beauty build standpoint.

@@grahamfox7568 a lot of his use depends on playstyle as well. I don't grow much in the new world anymore except for sugar cane. I am importing a LOT of my goods now that would require lots of farms in the New World, so his usefulness is limited in that regard. When I ranked someone, I looked at their overall value from various standpoints, especially with Docklands now. With me having fewer farms in the new world overall, and I know many people are doing the same thing, then his value diminishes a lot. If you changed playstyle and utilized the New World more for farms, then sure he would be better to a degree, though I would say his usefulness depends on multiple factors in the New World like enough farms and maximized production to make enough extra production, reduced or zero workforce strategies to minimize the need for Jornaleros everywhere, a large number of trade ships to bring that amount of goods back to the Old World, and so on.... it's a lot of setup for a gimmick gain really. But again... to each their own. This is just MY rankings for them based on how I view them... something many people have asked me for.

Hey, all! If you don't like dealing with canned food, you can always try and find an Actor at Wormways Prison: that dude, if installed at a Town Hall, will take care of all your people's canned food needs. He is not "legendary", but "rare", but he's well worth your trouble of getting him from Eli. By "trouble" I mean that, if the Actor is not available at the moment, you might have to re-roll the items several times, but once again, he's well worth it! Have fun not having to deal with canned foods any more!

One thing you can do with Ursula Green is to combine her with the specialist that affects charcoal kilns that makes extra cauch. With the forest density upgrade, you can put more kilns together and make cauch in the old world. Maybe a trade union combo tier list would be nice.

Great video, Taka. I'd love a similar video on town hall items/people. I pretty much agree with you on all of them, however I will disagree with you on just one. Francois Thorne (bricks/concrete) is really great. 1) +50% productivity is outstanding, 2) free veneers usually enough to cover the need for stupid phones for scholars, 3) concrete is a great, easy good for Docklands (especially if you get the guy that swaps cement for clay) and 4) good to use paved roads on ALL islands so you need a lot of bricks. I know you don't do that much, and it triggers me every time I see unpaved roads. ;-) Look forward to more!

I'd put Hilarius into straight S tier just because of the insane combo you get with the epic-level Sir Lewis Brindley. The two, the epic copper distiller and access to electricity will push Schnapps Distilleries up to 400% productivity and cause them to spit out two tons of Rum on every third production cycle. No clipping or palace upgrade required. With this combo each of those Schnapps Distilleries also turns out the equivalent of 2.666 Rum Distilleries running at 100%. One Schnapps block with this combo can cover all your Old World/Cape Trewlaney rum needs until very far into the endgame, saving you a ton of space and workforce in the new world and another trade route. And the ludicrous amount of schnapps you get out can be pumped into the Docklands. Yeah, it has a low exchange value. Doesn't matter when you can cram hundreds of tons of it into Tobias' ship each time. I'd also rate the King of Corn higher. Replacing corn with plantains for tortilla makers is such an immense space-saver. Corn farms take up more space individually while producing at half the base rate of plantain plantations. Jörg von Malching is absolutely game-breaking if you go ham with him. Put a trade union in range of three iron and/or coal mines (never seen mine placement that would allow more) and then add in electricity and a local department, more productivity items and perhaps some work conditions modifiers and you cna easily push those mines to 400% productivity. At which point they'll pour out enough oil to supply four power plants, as much gold ore as *TWENTY* New World gold mines running at 100% and an absolute avalanche of iron and/or coal. Just make sure you have a way to empty out your iron/coal stores to keep things rolling.

I agree on most of these (some maybe one tier up or down), but some of your choices make no sense to me. The -50% Workforce Robot is so versatile. For many production chains there simply aren't many good specialists and getting your workforce is almost always worth it. It's easily A Tier. Another one I don't get is the guy that replaces pigs with beef in the slaughter house. Like your said yourself: Beef is annoying as hell to build and the only benefit is that you get goulash, which you don't need because you can use Michèl for cans. That slaughter house guy belongs in G Tier. He's so bad I don't even know what to say.

I think this tier list is fine if your gameplay style is just to win the game (complete campaign and/or defeat the other 3 AI). But I like to keep playing and get 100k + investors and then the demand for basic goods skyrocket. I need 2 full charcoal kiln layouts (with ursula green, druid sickle, etc) just for coal demand (artic needs soo much). I need so much steel i need a full layout, and the sand needed for glass....
@TakaYouTube
@TakaYouTube 3 года назад
Your gameplay style is called min max or record building... Which would totally weight items differently than I did. I don't play to win the game because I don't think you can you win a game that is meant to be played as a sandbox.. there's always something else you can do. As I said at the beginning of the video this is just how I view those specialists in my play style. There are some specialists that are super overpowered no matter what and some that are completely useless no matter what your play style... But there are many that change value depending on how you play the game.

I stumbled on this video and, considering it comes from a very experienced anno player, i'm not challenging nor condemning the list presented (i find it actually very informative.) But, despite it's one year of age, i'd like to give some counter thoughts regarding said list based on my own experience. Because i think this list is very unfair on one point : it was drafted with the "science institute" in mind to serve as absolute basis and that the concepts of "early and middle game stages" simply don't exist at all. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ *"Bizarro Balloons"* I'll start with the "Bizarro Balloons" being "F" tiers. I think it to be somewhat unnecessarily harsh to be put so low, when it is essentially a very good item *when the science institute isn't yet active.* For starters it is an item you can craft WITHOUT the science institute, which is not negligeable (but is also somewhat offset by the fact that collecting "parts" on the map is an absolute pre-required pain in the ass, i concede.) Second, it is one of the very, very few items in the game that gives a flat 1/1 extra ton per cycle, which is honestly marvelous because it essentially turn ALL MINES into an Iron mine or gives iron mines the same output than electrified ones (making an electrified one worth three by itself.) I am very envious of you if you did not have trouble with iron during your playthroughs but, in my case, iron could sometime proves less than... cooperative, let say. And this item essentially makes Iron a lot less of an issue - until i hit the science institute. I consider it more a "C" tiers because it exceedingly easy to use and it's always rewarding. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ *"Mark Von Der Mark"* I actually was surprised with this one. Granted, at first glance, he doesn't seem like a good Legendary in the slightest because of the malus _"+100% no. of modules"._ But in practice, he's more reliable and economical than you'd think ; the +100% module for +100% production actually means a cost reduction of space, because you double your production while getting rid of another production building. Let me explain : 1t of Wool requires one Wool Farm (main building + three modules.) To get 2t of Wool, you therefore need two Wool Farm (two main buildings + six modules.) With "Mark Von Der Mark", to obtain 2t of Wool, you require one single Wool Farm + six module. So you get rid of one main building (thus gaining space.) Additionnaly, the "Bright Harvest DLC" helps increasing the productivity of farms by +100% for an additionnal 6x2 module ; making it +300% for minus a single 6x2 module, a (X by X) main farming building and a depot transport required to get the goods. In other words, it lightens the overall burden that farms represent by a significant amount. Finally, considering how vital of a ressource space is in the new world, having a specialist like "Mark Von Der Mark" that help getting rid of the Alpaca Farm entirely is an enormous plus in my book (which, when combined with the "Milliner" rare specialist, means it's directly processed as such by the Bombin Weavers - helping getting rid of Felt entirely. Another big plus.) It's "C" tiers as well. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ *"François Thorne"* I am actually surprised at seeing him at "D" tiers. It is true that you normally do not need lots of Brick and Concrete Factories to be set. But, in my case, i'd rather produce more Bricks and Concrete (whose surplus i can sell if not needed) rather than less. Why ? Because of the item "General Foreman", which both reduce workforce for both building by -60% and that grants 1t of Steel Beam every 5th cycle. So the faster i produce Bricks and Concrete, the faster i get Steel Beams without having to bother with the whole production chain of it. (And ironically enough, by adding the "Human Incarn8te nr.9" i essentially hit -110% workforce. So i'm good.) But more importantly, thanks to the two specialists : "Johan the Inventor" and "Torcedor Lucia", that get rid of the need for Wood Veneer for their respective buildings, the Gramophone and Cigar factories, the extra Wood Veneer produced by Thorne can be used for the World Fair, Quests or very late game recipees of the "High Life DLC". A very good plus in my book, which should sit at "C" tiers at worst. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ *"Ultin8 Power Matrix"* Now i was surprised by this one two... but in reverse this time. It indeed provide electricity but does so only for a very select few production plants, which are almost all late game. By that time, you should already have access to the World's Fair, running science exhibition and dropping either the Uncommon "Dynamo", Rare "Steam Turbine" or the (very rare) Epic "Pertwee's Turbo Generator", which provides electricity to *ALL* plants normally affected by it (and not just a few.) So i'd consider it more of a "F" tiers legendary than a "D" tiers (even as it's craftable.) ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ *"Angela Iver"* "B" tiers. Easy. No electric nor gas plant, no additionnal risk of explosion nor fire AND less workforce. Always useful and easy to use. Sign me he f*ck in. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ *"Henri Zanchi and Marcel Forcas"* Actually ? I'd consider both "D" and "F" tiers respectively. If that sounds harsh for you, here's my reasoning. For Zanchi, considering that "General Foreman" (Rare), "Savy Custom Officer" and "Taxman Tim" (both Epic) exist, the need for Steel Beam, Weapons or Advanced Weapon Factories is basically near non-existent. As for Forcas, the presence of "Chef Michel" renders him utterly pointless. And you have to consider that, as legendaries, both can only be obtained by random quest drop in early/middle game and only get more reliably accessible in the institute at late game, whereas the other aforthmentionned specialists, albeit their obtention relies also on luck, are a lot easier to obtain. So unless you absolutely want a fully fledged Steel Beam/Advance Weapons production, Zanchi is redundant and "Chef Michel" getting rid of the Artisanal Kitchen entirely, simply makes Forcas non-usable. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ *"Tlayolotl Savor"* "B" tiers easily - i'd even personally rank him as high as "A". During my first time playing campaign, i was lucky enough to drop him very early game. Thanks to him and the "Mole Master" specialist, both my Fried Plantains and Tortillas Makers were running on the very same production line : Bananas and Fish Oil. I litteraly NEVER produced Corn in my playthrough until late game and beef production was also always kept at a minimum, AWAY from the New World. A very, VERY unappreciated specialist whose, sole presence guarantes your settling of all of the New World Islands to go as smoothly as imaginable (The extra plantain is also a clear plus.) ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ *"Maxim Graves"* You put it at "B" tiers ? Really ? He's closer to "D" and it would be straight "F" if not for the additionnal Goulash every two cycles. I must stress that out : the most valuable and finite of all ressource in the Anno series is *_Space._* Thus, the objective and mindset that players looks after to achieve is how to manage space in the most economically profitable way possible. ANY thing that gets in the way of this objective is an obstacle or a nuisance. Nothing more or less. Replacing "Pig" with "Beef" is an absolute malus, not a bonus, because of the sheer space cost of setting Beef Farms far offset the benefits - which, exactly like Forcas before - are completely being taken cared off by "Chef Michel." Indeed, it's actually a wonder that "Chef Michel" _isn't_ a Legendary himself, because his bonus entirely gets rid of a very space costly supply chain - which Maxim increase instead. The additionnal Goulash is the redeeming feature because the World Fair and the High Life DLC really makes uses of the stuff. But the Beef farms are a big drag. To make full use of him, you must look after making the best use of "Rodrigo the Ranchero" (drastically reduce cost maintenance of all farms and provide 1t of beef every 4th cycle), otherwise you'll quickly realise why Pigs are such a better sought after alternative for... everything, really. And i'll stop there. i'll continue in another post.

IMHO the Human IncarN8 is pretty good - but it shouldn't be legendary. The required resources are really not that high, and you can stretch your population for a while longer while growing your actual production. As in: getting started on Motors and all the other Engineer stuff on Crown Falls. You would have to increase population quite a bit during that stage, but this one is cheap and well available. Also - it's pretty good for sacrificing as research points. ;)

This tier list is some kind of completely different from most stuff i know and how record builders play. Of course B. Ironbright is the strongest item in the game together with G. Fuchs, but the Balloono is very useful in certain situations. You need huge amounts of iron (in form of steel or raw) to produce bycicles and sewing machines. Ali Zahir is one of the best Items for the new world, it saves so much space in the old world for the additional grain, grapes, hops and peppers.

The fun thing about this game is that every playstyle values specialists and items differently. Record builders are also an extreme minority of the player base and so this tier list was kind of not meant for them obviously... It's more of a general / casual look at them.

Thats also true, pure effectiveness is not always needed. Many players dont even reach the points where these become really neccessary and mandatory, and you need a good understanding of shipping and routing to work with all these extra goods. It really depends what goals you are following.

Goes diectly there, Von Malking and other item mean some of your islands can become oil self sufficient even without oil Wells. You do however need tons and tons of influence to build these type of systems up.

For the bizarre ballon and iron bright guy person thing just wondering I have a tiny island and am currently changing the three mines into iron and putting a Malching and the ballon and something else in that trade union because I’m struggling on iron and haven’t built up ct yet with Dario and iron bright for sewing machines I think the two trade unions would be really powerful together what is your view on that?
@TakaYouTube
@TakaYouTube 3 года назад
I still don't see Iron being a problem... you need to expand and settle more islands with iron ore on them. There are SO many ways of getting iron ore, that I just do not think the balloon is really all that useful unless you can cover 3 or more mines with it. Then MAYBE it is okay. But on a single mine? You'll never convince me.
@papayrustheskeleton4141

@@TakaRU-vid well if you use malching for the mine you might as well put the balloon and first rate sapper in. Very strong combo even for one mine IMO
@TakaYouTube
@TakaYouTube 3 года назад
@@montajo91 If you need iron sure... I never have an issue with iron, so I would never use the balloon. And using a trade union on a single mine or 2 mines is wasteful to me. I would only use a TU if it covered 3 or more and then adapt the specialists for pure output boosting.
