I had a canary when I was a kid. Tamed it and had it free around the house wherever he wanted. He was always on my desk while I was doing my homework, always on my shoulder when I was watching TV or playing video games, and when I was in another room and whistled at him he was flying right on my head. If I didn't, he stayed at his position. I loved him so much. He was very old when he died, I hope I made him happy. ❤️ He made me soooo happy for sure. His name was Hercules.
@@pavlosrousakis4327 he was a baby canary, when they brought him to me, it's easy to make a canary trust you and the place it lives. The best to do is try to hand feed it, make it feel safe and in a matter of time it will feel trust to fly to you or let you tam it. I remember I was trying day after day to make him feel comfortable to my hand by putting food on my palm and let him come whenever he was ok.First attempts in the cage, and after outside to let him come to my palm.
@@pavlosrousakis4327 mine wasn't younger than two months as well. Good luck and I hope you ll both live a happy life with the little fella 😊❤️ greetings from Greece🇬🇷
I love how when they are flying they tuck their wings in and immediately start falling, then start flying again. It happens so fast, like the bird equivalent of altitude control.
small birds tend to do this and i'm fascinated by it too, it requires some wicked coordination on the part of their brain, but it comes naturally to these birds.
My cat has lost a lot of her hearing, she's 18 years old. I played this bird chirping and she could hear it a bit, was so cute... Thanks for sharing 🕊️
@@argirisarvanitis1910 their sound is amazing but from a far. I prefer female canaries, they do sing but less frequently and in a low voice. Even just in video, my ears hurt.
My dad had a canary when I was a child. He was awesome and a great singer. He was very old when he died, it was long ago, in year 2002 but I still miss him. Forever in my heart little Hansi, my dad and him are now together again. Rip❤
@@SatanenPerkele ANYONE who hatefully considers dogs to be solely "disgusting," admittedly annoying barking aside, IS not only, disgusting,THEMSELVES, but, heartless & VERY IGNORANT, as well. THEY'RE, sadly, ALSO, completely missing out on the exquisitely pure, loyal & unconditional LOVE & companionship that a canine, aka, "Man's Best Friend," (known as THAT for GOOD reason), so uniquely, freely, & generously, gives to humankind, WHEN they're cared for & treated with kindness. Those barks, btw, even those of a tiny yap-yap dog, can alert one to possible dangers, like a stranger approaching their home, even BEFORE they've set foot on your property, &, as a result, can save a person's &/or family's LIVES by giving them time to react in time. If you happen to live in a country, or area/neighborhood (believe me there are far TOO MANY here in the USA, TOO) where TOO often, irresponsible people, even those who COULD, unfortunately, don't spay/neuter, control & care for, or, ultimately, keep, their OWN pets, the dog, cat, ANY domesticated animals, etc, as a result, there are many abandoned "pets" & feral dogs & cats around, that may be, undoubtedly, sick, scared, starving, injured, abused, and, OFTEN, consequently, DANGEROUS, that's the HUMANS,' THEIR culture's, &, usually their local government's, FAULT, as well, It's NOT the dogs', cats', monkeys', or, whatever kind of, by their very nature, INNOCENT, animals' FAULT...
When I was little I had the tamest most affectionate pet canary. He was called Ringo after Ringo Starr in the Beatles as he had a feathery fringe which was absolutely adorable. He always used to curl up to my neck and fall asleep there or perch on my finger, sometimes he'd fall asleep after a while there too. I still think about him sometimes he was such a gentle little cutie 💕
Sharath I don't doubt it, but we got ours from a pet shop, and they told us that someone returned the canary after two months💔 so we took her, but she won't touch my hands
@@akhylla_2671 Oh! Please don't force your Canary now, it'll be easily stressed out & that leads to so many health risks. Just feed her wide varieties of food & give enough space for physical exercise (flying) & 12 hours of good night sleep. Is she alone ? Why don't you consider to get another male with her as well. Because finches & Canaries are more likely to live in groups, at least 2 is much better for their overall well-being.
Renaki90 / It’s much easier to tame a newborn Canary, just feed them since they are born and they’ll be tamed, I tamed to Female canaries that are born in my house , but unfortunately they died when I traveled ( I gave them to my brother to take care of them while I am traveling ) when I came back, both females were sick and died :( I missed them Now I got another birds :)
@@80slimshadys my cats know a few tricks (sit, stay, heel, lay down, shake) And I recently taught my betta to go through a hoop on command Animals aren't stupid. Their brain is wired to have them learn how to get food if they need to, and doing tricks for A human that gives food afterwards is one way
@@chahed12 lol it’s easy mines started going on my shoulder after I started training him out the cage now he just comes if I make a tweeet noise straight to my shoulder
I used to have such a canary. He was .. "nearly like a dog" !! came on our hands to sing for us, and with time, felt completely at ease with us. He could take a nap on our shoulder, or on our finger; we could kiss his chest as much as we wished. He knew the rooms by heart, was free to fly in the house. My advice : let him fly as soon as possible, get him used to "human" behaviours, he can trust very quickly. Take care of these cute things !!
+Aikea Guinea I just got a wee canary on Friday yet don't know if it's male or female as of yet it's the same color as the one in this video. I know the males sing but as this poor wee one was found at the side of the road it is a bit uneasy as of yet, but quite happy to cheap at it's own image in a mirror toy. I am not to sure but he or she may be quite young as some of it's feathers are quite fluffy looking or this could be due to where he/she was found, Kinda goes mad for the swing in the cage and bird bath.
Joseph Karthic true. the cool thing is, poops are so tiny, and bird only poops when perched, so that it's always the same place cause he has his favourite places & habits ! so it's very easy to clean rapidly.
I have owned parrots all my life, but after rescuing and raising a sparrow who has become my best pet ever, I have learned to appreciate small birds. What a beautiful song.
My grandfather used to have one in his room, the sound instantly took me 15 years ago to before he passed away and all the family used to sit in his room.
Unbelievable sound. I literally can listen to this all day. I was stationed in Panama for three years. I heard variations of this sound daily. Very, very soothing. Better than drugs.
Whenever he snapped his fingers for it to come I was so amazed because that takes a lot of training! Then it started singing and I thought to myself, "This bird beatboxes like crazy!" Epic video.
my mom got 2 canary back in 2007, one died last year in December, but the other one still sings a lot like he is in his younger days... birds are amazing, listening to them singing. and i didnt knew that canary can live soo long, as long as dogs...
I had 3 canaries and 6 finches, all lived in one cage and played out the whole day. As soon as night fell, the oldest of the canaries like a little watch dog, gathered all to the cage and set himself on this potplant I had next to the cage. The door never closed. I miss them.
Ali Haidar I moved house and didnt know there were so many xats in d vicinity. ..so yoy can imagine...now we have sun conure who loves stirring my tea...serves himself to the biscuits in my plate and runs off with one...little rascal.
My grandma had a canary for a while. She was born 1915, grew up on a farm in Nebraska with her 5 younger sisters. Last time I saw one of my great aunts, she was 102 and when I asked what her two parakeets were named, she laughed and looked at me funny, the farm girl said "Oh, I don't think about that stuff." And neither did my grandma, but sometimes when that canary sang, she'd say "Pretty Bird."
Мой кенар умер год назад. И я так соскучился по пению канарейки что решил включить это видео. Мой пел почти точно также, я не сдержался и заплакал. Спасибо видео, за возможность послушать пение кенара
Lovely bond you have with your bird. It's sad that so many people don't realise that virtually every bird can be trained to be like this. All it takes is respect and patience by the owner. Again, well done.
also if you do get a bird don't expect it to be like any other bird especially one you see on youtube they all have different personalities and you have to tame them some are easier to tame than others accept that fact but just because it's not easy don't mean you give up you have to have patience.
@@hankanderson8633 They can be your best friend. My husband and I have an eclectus parrot, Kelvin, and he's a member of the family. He was raised to be a companion, and he's such a lover boy. He loves to be cuddled, hugged, flipped on his back, and lots of other things. He'll let me pet him like he's a cat. I love him so much. He talks, too. Small birds can be excellent companions, too.
Mine is even running with me from a room to another when I tell him to, stands on my feet, kisses me and eats from my mouth, he's even addicted to traditional food.
