Interesting selections. I would have selected a standard GR2 34l bc of the mollee which makes it more versatile. No mention of the CPL28 or CTB35, which I think are fantastic bags.

Excellent list of well-designed and carefully constructed gear for high tech users. For those of us who don’t carry laptops or camera gear, however, all (with the exception of the Dragonfly) are over-built and unnecessarily heavy. How about a list that focuses on well-made light bags designed for low tech travelers?

I've been eyeing the Tom Bihn Aeronaut 30L that they just brought back (with new straps) after a hiatus. Trying to decide if I want to spend the $$$ but it's the ideal carry-on bag if you don't travel with a laptop. It's the only duffel I've found with hideaway backpack straps and several compartments/pockets.

I have the original Peak Designs Travel Backpack (the larger one), the Pakt Backpack and the MInaal 3.0. They're all amazing. The downside to the PD one is that shoulder straps connect via a pivot which is great for tucking the straps away, but they can (and have in my experience) fail under load. I LOVE the Pakt Backpack for it's usefulness in many situations. I find myself grabbing the Minaal 3.0 nowadays most often when on the road though.

I don’t travel with a laptop but find the osprey farpoint to be comfy for week long travel. It can easily take 18 lbs and feel ok with the beefy shoulder straps and hip belt. When I do weekend, summer, or lighter I take my setout divide. Still learning to pack lighter. 😊. Love watching pack hacker videos, and I’ve been eyeing the aer 3…. It's nice to see so many travel-focused packs in one place, and I especially appreciate the common theme of efficient rectangular shapes vs inefficient teardrop classic school pack shapes (rectangular packs are more likely to fill out a luggage testing box, whether personal item or overhead carryon size). I wish you had called out which bags might be suitable as personal items; and given your deep investment in this particular bag review space, I wish you could construct a couple of sealed-side, but open-topped, plywood luggage testing boxes, one in more or less standard carryon size and one in personal item size. Thanks for your dedication and detailed approach to onebag travel - and I think even those who routinely check luggage should have at least a 30L total backup solution in-cabin on every trip, and an on-body medications, eyeglasses, and phone kit in case of our worst travel day ever, the emergency evac.

Great summary and just what I was looking for! Can you do a video specifically around people who travel frequently almost every week for Business? I have a different set of needs compared to casual travelers, especially when you have to go during winter. For example, how do you manage the need to look professional but also stay warm when you travel to a client office straight from the airport? If its a 1-2 day trip, what bags to carry, but not show up with a carry-on suitcase or a jumbo backpack with clothes? Do you wear your suit or business clothes on the plane? If so, a backpack on a suit looks kinda ridiculous. Lots of confusion, so a video targeted at this segment would definitely help

I wish they make travel packs along the lines of the outdoor cottage industry minimalist ultralight backpacking packs. All these suggestions are way too heavy considering the majority of travels in my region involve airlines with a 7kg cabin limit and these are almost always strictly inforced. I'm not a digital nomad/business traveller, purely a frequent leisure traveller, all of these features are an unnecessary overkill. I've taken to travelling with my Durston Kakwa 40l, before that was my GG Mariposa 60. The Kakwa is under 1 kg, if theres no room in the overhead bins I can remove the frame, put that in the bin and put my pack under the seat. I also love the roll top closure if I end up with extra bulky stuff than I started with. The lack of organisational pockets doesn't bother me either as that's what packing cubes and stuff sacks are for, even with all that, it still weighs at least a kilo lighter than having a bag with all those features. Every gram counts when you've only got 7 kgs to play with and you're female who likes to be reasonably stylish on your travels. The only thing I miss about a dedicated travel bag is having a front loading opening and the ability to neatly stow away straps when required. But it's a willing sacrifice I'll make so I don't waste at least a third of my luggage allowance to unnecessary bag weight.

Super glad to see the Minaal Carry-on, the Bellroy Transit and Dragonfly listed here! Definitely agree that these 3 bags are amazing for one-bag travel. I'm' always surprised at how much the Dragonfly can carry. It can hold quite a bit on the pockets on the right and the straps in the front. I do think that regarding the Bellroy Transit, you can get away with the 28 Liter Bellroy Transit version if you don't bring a dedicated hard water bottle but a use a foldable water flask like the Vapur. Trick is to just not use the pockets on the side. But if you must have cold water (insulation) then yeah the Plus is probably the way to go. Also note that each 'color' of the Bellroy Transit line is a different material. I find that (Black) true Black (not Midnight, Midnight is worse imo) is the best version. It's the one that's discontinued on the 20 Liter version but it's the sleekest of the bunch. It's better than the other material imho.

I have a few comments about "one-bag travel". Though I believe in packing light and I have gone on 10-day trips to Europe with Tom Bihn' Synapse 25. However, it is also important for me to have a small cross-body bag for my valuables and Tom Bihn's Side Kick works perfectly for that for example. The reason is security and convenience. A lot of back packs offer organizational small pockets and reviewers often show them putting in passport, phone, keys, wallet, etc., but I never put those valuables in a backpack. Many backpacks offer lockable zipper for the main compartment but not so many on those pockets. AND especially if those pockets are locked, you won't have quick and easy access to the items that you need to use often without taking the whole backpack off your shoulder. While I often leave the backpack in an overhead bin or rack on planes and trains or other places, the small cross body bag stays with me strapped across my shoulder all time, while sitting on planes and trains, or eating at a restaurant, or even when I go use the lavatory on an airplane. The bag stays on my side or front, not in the back for obvious reasons. (And I use Tom Bihn's pouches attached to bag's O-rings so that they cannot be snatched away.) So, while I believe in traveling with just a backpack that fits under seat on airplane, I also have to have a small crossbody bag for all my valuables and small things that I need to use often on the go, which would not make it "one-bag travel"

Does it have a hip belt at all? Can the shoulder straps be used without the hip belt? Max weight for comfortable carry? Max laptop dimensions, etc. I do enjoy highlighting features based on experience with the bags to show what is not obvious about each but basic features can rule out a bag that is otherwise attractive.

Hi, why does no one include the cotopaxi alpa in these travel bags when its clearly only made for travel?

Most likely buying the ULA dragonfly. Which fabric is used in the video? And it’s able to fit under the seat in all flights??

Question: since you have so many bags in your inventory like the travel bags, how do you pick which ones you’ll do a video of? My favorite is the Osprey Daylite Plus!

I am looking for recommendation. I need universal travel backpack with laptop sleeve, bottle pocket, strap to put it on luggage, clamshell opening (if possible) which looks more low profile when not fully packed. I want to use it for work and holiday trips. So it shouldn’t look too much like hiking bag. Max 30l or that looks not too big. I am not too tall 160cm and most of the bags looks huge on me. Peak design has most that I need but it can still look big as it’s over 50cm long.

I’m surprised the Pakt Travel Backpack isn’t on this list. Chase Reeves knocked it out of the park with this collaboration.

Hey guys! Have you looked at the Caribee traveller 40L?? Seems like a pretty decent pick and only $110 AUD? 1/5 of the price of many of the bags you have rated highly , even for the potential lower quality I'll take the budget and just buy another when needed

Love your videos, great content, and very useful information. Maybe I am one of the very few people, but I do not need a personal item bag or backpack to carry a laptop. Do they make personal item bags that are slim, tall (so they didn’t make your suitcase fall over when they’re sitting on top of it ) without a laptop compartment, and have a sleeve to slip over the handle of your suitcase/rollaboard? They seem impossible to find. Thank you again very much for your informative channel!👍

Hey, I'm not sure if you will see this, but I have a question on whether it is more worth getting AER travel pack 2 at half price of AER Travel pack 3 in my country, 3 is simply put of the budget, or should I look for alternatives

I am still looking for the perfect bag to be used for both every day work and for light travel as well ( all what I find is either too big for office or too small for travel ) :( any recommendations?
