Thank you so much for this video. Had a crash yesterday and dented up my POC tactile helmet that I had for 5 years. Looking into getting a different helmet and this helped a lot. Thanks again.
Did u not find the A3 hot as heck? That padding lliner I had to remove was far to hot for me, I'm in the uk, I liked the fidlock buckle but it's so easy to think it's clipped in and it's stuck to the other side of the lock pin with the magnet till someone points it out of when go to take it off you think Holly crap
I’ve ditched all my A series helmet and only use the Stages for XC and D4 carbon for park. I won’t wear a half shell any longer since the Stages is light enough to not risk losing my fangs,
My old A1, which has been the comfiest helmet I've owned thus far, has reached its end-of-life so was super keen to upgrade to an A3. But found that as my head measures 59cm it's right on the cross-over point between the M/L and the XL/2XL sizing. With the adjustment cranked all the way out, the M/L fitted but I had some ever so slight pressure points near the temples which would have led to headaches if wearing for any length of time. Conversely, the bigger sizing on the XL/2XL meant I had to wind the adjustment all the way in to stop it moving about on my head, and... I felt it made me look like Dark Helmet from Spaceballs. It's a much bulkier helmet in the largest sizing. So, neither works for me, and I had to send them both back. 😢 The current A1 on the other hand, with the same sizing bands according to TLD fits perfectly. I guess that's it then. Shame they don't make the Fidlock buckle standard across the range.
For anyone stumbling on this while looking to replace their A1, I ended up with their newer Flowline AS SE with MIPS in the M/L size. It seems to have the same sizing as the A1 (no pressure points at the temples and front like the A3). And you get the bonus of the Fidlock buckle! Woo!
How hard did you have to hit your head to cause that kind of damage? I'm really cheap so I lead with my head to save the bike. Looking for something with all the level of awesome as the a3 but also durable. My current specialized lid has taken a beating but time to go. Broke a 5 inch tree limb with it the other day.
A1 is not hot at all. My dumb ass never payed attention and knew that you need to replace your helmets after a period of time no matter what. I do not want to say how long I have had my a1 but I love it and looking for a new helmet currently.
@JaredHoff I'm looking for my first helmet; is the A2 still good for $68. It's on sale from the website, but I always see/read about helmets: you get what you pay for. Quite a few recommend mips & koroyd. I'm not doing anything too crazy, aside from occasionally riding along traffic.
