Please advise how to enable film mode. Ive been on to samsung support for nearly 120 minutes with no resolution. Do i have a setting engaged that wont allow me to use film mode fuctionn in, expert settings???
@@michaeldobson9830 Hi, this will depend on your connected source content. It’ll only be available to select if supported. So a cable TV box connected via hdmi cable, or the built in apps (Netflix etc), should make it available to select for example. If it’s greyed out it’s not supported for some reason, so the question is, what are you watching and how is it connected (cable TV, Netflix via dongle or built in app etc)?
@@TheReviewFella thanks for your response. Im using a 4k firestick, but also apps on the tv itself, nothing will let me access that option, even the built in samsung channels.
wow! thank you so much! I got an 85 inch and it looked too dim for me on movie mode. This fixed my issue with this TV thank you so much, it looks so much better now in SDR and HDR.. I even had to lower the brightness setting for nighttime viewing
Your video just popped up on my feed and tired out your settings on my new QN85Q70A and I have to say like the look on my screen. I understand what it means to turn off some settings and disable "auto" mode. Mind you my tv is only a mid-range QLED I'm still impressed regardless.
I bought the 55QN90A (VA panel) version. There are extremely high light bursts (diffusion) on the edges, whether in subtitles or text in dark places. Is there a method I can solve this problem? If I make these settings, will my problem be solved a little bit?
Hi there just wondering if you can help me bought a new Samsung QN90B and I'm using Sky Q on HDMI 1 my problem is that I have to keep pulling the HDMI 1 cable from the Sky q box out because I keep getting no signal but every time I pull it out and put it back it works really annoying really appreciate any help thanks
I cant wait to try this out on Sunday when I get my QN90A TV!!! Just a bit salty though coz I really wanted the Sony OLED A90J but its too damn expensive. I hope this TV will give me satisfaction.
Horses for courses maybe. They could do with more peak brightness, particularly for Dolby Vision. Burn in risk is there, but lower than it was with the built in panel care options.
Bought QN94A last week, great TV but I just can’t get the picture settings to my liking just yet, The picture is either too dull or too bright, I agree that the standard setting seems the best for me but I had too up the colour setting for my Firetv Stick as it was just too dull and dark for me, I upped the colour too 40 and the colours seem too be more accurate now
Hi there I've just got myself a QN85a as I like it bright and colourful I've found my settings I've trund the energy saving off and the picture clarity settings off but if I turn TV off after a bit I trun it back on the picture has dimmed and not bright like I left it but the settings have not changed I've i have to switch on the picture clarity on and put the led clear motion on and the brightness comes back up like I like it I you may have a idea.
Hi, do you have Brightness Optimization set as shown in the video (this will limit brightness)? Or you could try turning it off and just have a constantly set brightness setting. Also check the Motion Lighting and Brightness Reduction settings on the same page. I don't know any reason why your TV would be dimmer than when it was on before, other than the ambient light has changed and therefore Brightness Optimization is altering the brightness.
@@TheReviewFella hi there ye I have it trun off and have The brightness up to 50 it looks good till I trun if off for a bit then it go's dim I spoke to samsung thyeqy said it could be my sky q but I had no problem with it on the qled 800 series
If it could be the Sky Q box then best way to test it would be disconnect that box from the HDMI port, restart your TV and stream some content. If it still happens you can rule out the box. Sorry I can’t help more but I hope you get it sorted.
@@TheReviewFella thanks ! With your help i pluggued my ps5 directly in the tv instead of my denon avr. And the gama has changer automatically and HDR active. Thats a crazy difference mate
Not something I’ve tried yet. I’d expect the TV to switch to SDR mode once the movie starts. But it’s an interesting question and I’d like to know the answer too.
Brought a new qn90a and noticed backlight bleed at the bottom edge of the screen. So I got it replaced but the replaced model also suffers from this bleeding issue. Is it expected for qled TVs or do I need to return it?
I had that issue also, and returned the TV. It was damaged in transit causing the screen to detach from the bezel in one corner. Backlight bleed is distracting. Once you see it you can’t unsee it. If it were me I’d return it. There should be no back light leakage/bleeding.
I'm having trouble with Forza Motorsport 4, Laguna seca, where the sun hits the road it's literally crushing into 1 blur & you can't see the road in some cases & driving blind, yes glare is a real thing but it wasn't this bad on my old Samsung TV, something I'm doing that's not right, I've played around with contrast brightness, shadow detail, but still can't get it right, wondering if it's the Xbox 360 game settings now, it's horrific, but I tried PS4 GT7 & it's jaw dropping colours graphics etc,in fact my words to my mate was these are the smoothest, most sharpest picture I've seen when it takes you into the intro,& I don't think it was 4k as the PS4 is not 4k version, keen to see 4k in game graphics now
@@TheReviewFella yeah it's very weird, this TV has a lot of picture tinkering options, I'll keep messing with it, doesn't do it on my F1 which Also has glare scenes, I'll keep digging, thanks for getting back 👍
I've buyed a Samsung QN85A 55" last week for 989 €. Saw some YTs bash the model, but the reviews are 10 month old, when the Samsung QN85A 55" was higher than 1700€. Need some opinions on this one. Did i made a cool choice?
The further up the range you go the better the panel (QN90A for example), but of course the higher the price too. For the money you did very well. The important thing is are you happy with it? Nothing wrong with the QN85A. It fits well into the lower price ranges but is certainly not a cheap TV. Pay a lot more for a QN90A and you get better contrast, black uniformity and local dimming. But unless you put them side by side I doubt you’d notice. For the money you did well and if you’re happy with the TV then enjoy it and don’t worry.
If you mean how they handle reflections? They are both about the same, with the QN85A having slightly better reflection handling and better viewing angles. However the QN90A has a better panel and therefore better Contrast, slightly better SDR and HDR brightness, and much better black uniformity.
Hey man. Usefull video for sure. Some settings changed, but I can’t switch my gamma settings from ST to BT for some reason. I’m changing all these settings in HDMI 4 (game channel) , because I only use my tv for gaming and Netflix. Maybe you know the reason why I can’t change my settings exactly like yours
It’ll probably be your input source. Some Gamma options might be greyed out if your input source isn’t supported, or you’re watching HDR content. You should be able to select them all for SDR content.
Looks tons better for hdr but I still cannot change the aspect ratio, so get letterbox black bars on certain content. Been trying to resolve this for a while now, the option is greyed out.
Isn't the aspect ratio dependant on the content? I know some stuff I watch has heavy black bars top and bottom and others don't. Often blockbuster movies (for example) have an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 or 2.40:1, and therefore you'll see black bars. Sorry if I've not understood your question.
@@TheReviewFella yeah the content you view is based on how it's initially recorded at the ratio intended for production. Though, you can often change the ratio, but the option is greyed out to change the aspect ratio. My parents LG TV was super easy to fix this. Though I feel after searching for a solution for most of the day, I may just have to purchase a streaming box like a roku or shield, as I believe when you plug in a device through HDMI the option will become avaliable, it doesn't seem that samsung have enabled this, so you can remove either the black bars or letterboxing without purchasing an external device which is a huge oversight.
I sure can. I have a short and concise guide to Samsung 2022 B series TV settings on the way very soon. It’s not as extensive as the previous video, but you should find it useful. Should be uploading it within the next 7 days.
Thank you very much for these settings! Was using the RTings settings and did not like it at all. Was even debating if I wanted to switch to aan oled tv. Picture looks way better now. Still, comming from an old plasma tv, the samsung has not blowen me away in terms of comparisment
Adding to reaction, has anyone gone from a plasma tv to LED or OLED? What was your experience? Still debating if i should switch to the LG C1. Hearing a lot of people saying it comes closer to plasma then an LED.
@@Corax074 I have a C1 77”. Came from a Samsung 60” plasma. The OLED blows it away. It’s not close. This TV, the QN90A is also better than plasma in my opinion but doesn’t hold a candle to my oled.
Great tutorial. I just received my Samsung 55 inch QN 90A. Hate the remote...HATE!! It will take time. At the moment I have to use my Comcast/Xfinity remote to access my saved programs on the DVR. Mostly football. Real football not a bunch of guys running around in shorts...😀😀😀 I do not believe I will be able to record from the TV to my DVR. I will for sure try your recommendations...Thank you.
The universal remote has hidden functions,if you long press the channel up/ down button you'll go straight to TV guide list, long press on the other buttons you'll see different shortcut options, took me half hour to work out volume up and down on it,😂 I was like you first but I am used to it now,not as user friendly as a remote from 5 yr ago👍
The brightness is way too high. That's why you see more blooming if you go by his settings. Either way the TV is awesome no matter what settings you use. I got a free exchange to this TV from a MU8000 that had vertical lines. 5 year extended warranty actually paid off.
Love our 75QN85A..however, is it normal for "enhanced contrast" setting to not work in movie or filmmaker mode? I think it may be a defect because it will occasionally work. It functions okay in standard, dynamic, natural modes. Strange!
My guess is that your TV is working perfectly. Remember that by selecting Filmmaker mode you are dialling in a set of pre-sets that will remove some picture processing to show content as the creator intended. If you could tweak everything then it would no longer be Filmmaker mode. Same applies to Movie mode, you are selecting a pre-set which will disable certain options to preserve the intended result. Other options will give you more control as they're intended to be more customizable. Mine does the same if that's any reassurance for you.
Thanks..you would think they would be grayed out if not accessible..and the fact that it will occasionally function on movie or filmmaker mode gives me cause for concern that it may be a defect..our LG, Sony, and TLC will access enhanced contrast on all modes. Enjoyed your review!
Yes, they would be greyed out if not accessible. If you’re concerned it might be worth doing a factory reset if not already done? If in doubt then it might also be worth raising it with the store you purchased it from or Samsung.
@@TheReviewFella Thanks..I think I'll just learn to live with it since otherwise this TV has fantastic PQ..most professional reviewers suggest to turn that setting off anyway(enhanced contrast) especially in cinema/movie mode. Thanks again for your advice.
Thanks for sharing and I'll try your recommended settings after my 50" QN90A is delivered next week. Question on turning Brightness Optimisation off in HDR, does it affect the SDR which you set it on to 21? Like I have to turn it back on again if I stop watching HDR content?
Good question. I don’t have my QN90A anymore to be able to test this for you. However I believe you’ll need to check and amend this setting for SDR and HDR content, as both retain some of their own settings if you change things.
How’s the blooming? White or bright objects against dark background? Hear it’s noticeable .. also how’s the blacks are they grayish? I heard the tv seems to dim itself like if you walk behind a tree shadow In a gam the TVs algorithm dims the whole tv screen.. I bought a 48” lg c1 which is said to be the best but it’s just to small for the price so lg dosent make a 50” so that jumps me to 55” which is fine but hundreds more then the 48” but the Samsungs aren’t any cheaper sometimes more .. I like the oled but I’m not wowed by it really and it’s possible because I’m 8 feet away from a 47.6” measured diagonal screen.. I mean it looks good for sure but it sucks everytime I want to watch old shows or crappy horror movies I enjoy the absurdity of them I feel I’m wasting my oled pixels as they don’t last forever lg says 30k on older oleds and 2021 100k hours of life but that dosent include burn in where uneven pixel wear occurs and you get shadows on certain colors where the pixels were used more for that color than the others .. I know led is the right choice for me but I don’t want it to be so.. not sure if I should return the 48 c1 and just wait for new stuff or what.. I found the qn85a open box for 994$ because brand new it’s framing 1400+ right now for 55” which is ridiculous .. the oled 55” is the same or cheaper
The blooming can be noticed but seems improved over previous years. It’s a bit exaggerated in my video. In reality it’s not so bad. Seems worse if you watch at an angle. I’ve toyed with the idea of OLED, but I’m not sure they will reach the brightness I need, and I’m still a little concerned over image retention. I know my QLED can’t do blacks as well but it’s super bright and just makes everything really pop. An ideal gaming TV I think.
Had the QN90A 43" version for a week and very pleased with picture quality, very nearly had the same settings as you recommend. One thing that's bugging me is when watching feed from Amazon or Prime I find any panning of camera across screen or vehicle driving across screen are incredibly stuttery jumping 2-3cm at a time. This does not occur with normal Virgin Media HD source - any recommendations would be much appreciated.
It seems some judder can be common with panning/fast moving shots on Samsungs. Check your Picture Clarity settings and experiment with the additional settings. Do so when you're streaming from the source that is causing the issue. I've not really experienced this myself, so I can' suggest a fix for it I'm sorry to say. Maybe someone from the community might be able to offer some advice.
My 55” QN85b had terrible stuttering, when there was horizontal camera panning. It occurred on several of my favorite programs and it drove me nuts. I tried every conceivable combination of Blur and Judder, plus LED Clear Motion, to no avail. I’ve been a Samsung fanboy for many years, but no longer. I ended up with a Sony X90K, which has been perfect.
@@ChicagoRob2 if you ever spend a big amount money on any tv, even a Sony, you should use external things for apps, it gives a better picture and no stutter at all. Appletv is best but a shield has more usage. It’s like buy a top tv only using the sound from tv.
same ballpark with the numbers and local dimming etc only I'm in natural, what I've learned in the 3 weeks of having it is anything outside 4k, then brightness is your enemy, Also contrast,so I go low as possible, and raise sharpness a little, but this is all personal preference,I wish Samsung would sort the recording TV bug out, pissing me off now 🙄
I’ve not noticed that as a problem. I know the Samsung handling of reflections attempts to spread and disperse points of light. I’ve not noticed it with the TV on though.
Okay so I'm saving for a new tv and torn between the qn94a and the qn95a I watch alot of movies in 4k hdr and I game alot which one would you recommend for the least blooming and mainly dirty screen affects and also torn between pc world and richer sound for iff I have any issues can get it swaped for a untill I get a defent panel as Ino it's Panel lottery I'm based in UK and I want to opt for a 65 inch when they fall in price atm I have a LG 55uh650v 2016 4k hdr TV and its horrible colourbanding gray blacks and dse can see it while gaming and watching films cost £1500 in currys I got mine for argos for £800 probably the reason was that price and I don't want to make that mistake again so any help would be appreciated
So the comparison between the QN94A and the QN95A is easy. They are identical apart from one thing (hence only the slight change in the model number). The QN95A is the only one with 4 x HDMI 2.1 ports (via One Connect box). The QN94A has 4 x HDMI ports but only one of them is 2.1. Otherwise it’s the same TV. I like Richer Sounds. Great Customer Service and no problem swapping a TV four or five times due to screen/pixel issues. As long as you do it within 30 days, otherwise it’ll be a repair. Hope that helps.
