@@BlastOne hi BlastOne International I have tried out the new position of holding blasting hose against my chest doing a semi trailer and I found it very comfortable no aches snd pains that evening thank you ps any brochures left thanks again 😊
Im new to blast industry ,wow I'm learning the hard way 😮I've just jumped in and trying to learn as much as I can along the way ,what a challenge but im up for it 😂😂😂
@rabbits77... best of luck to you. We hope our videos can assist your learning process. We highly recommend this video series. It'll give you a great overview. www.blastone.com/optimizing-your-blast-system-masterclass/
Are these recommendations in line with AMPP/SSPC training methods? I've had some coworkers who have gone through the SSPC C7 and CAS certification process, and I seem to remember them telling me that holding the blast hose between their legs resulted in a lower score. But that was a long time ago and I may be misremembering.
@user-is6zo7vk2h Great question. Thanks for the comment. This is “our“ recommended method for safety, fatigue reduction and production. There is no right or wrong way to hold a blast hose and no where (osha, ampp, sspc) will it say this is the only way to hold a hose. But within their classes they promote “their” method of holding it and if you don’t answer that correctly on the test they will ding you points. The tech in this video has taken all those courses and remembers the sspc cas course as the only one who addressed how to hold the hose. We recommend you try all the different ways you can safely hold the hose but can almost guarantee you will prefer the method in the video.
any methods for blasting lying down and getting into awkward bits, usually wrap my legs aaround the hose with my feet squeezing it. still to find a easy way.....
I agree with everything except Having the hose running up between your legs This means you have to step over it to move or escape. I prefer having the hose running up my none dominant side across my chest then bending over to blasted surface I use my none dominant hand taking the weight of the blast hose and my dominant hand to direct the blast stream Then if I need to move away from the hose urgently I’m not tangled up with the blast hose
Great comment - that makes a lot of sense. Sounds like you are a blaster. Any other topics, products, or questions you would like to see more content about?
No way im putting that hose between my legs. If the hose blows be it a old hose yhats 2 ply or the newer hoses that pinhole there goes you nuts. The over shoulder boulder hold saves the hose for longer life at the cost of your back. The hose in front of you with nozzle chest level gives you more control safely and longer blast days without wearing yourself out. Been doing this for 24 years now.
if doing over the shoulder method for up high bits etc i leave the deadmans handle dangling from the nozzle about 2-3 feet and pull down with my left taking straing of my dominant right hand and shoulders.
