Dude!!! Thank you! Exactly same thing happened to me closing it with the latch already shut. Stuck like no other! I got the first easy bolt off halfway and my ratchet was wedged but luckily the lever poped and I got it open at only halfway off on one bolt!!! Awesome! Thanx!
Dude thanks so much!!! Worked like a charm for me… One thing I would say is that the right side with a 3/8 ratchet with the 10 mm worked better. I got my 1/2 ratchet stuck when trying to get bolt out completely so decided instead of tightening I just left wrench there and had much luck with smaller ratchet. 🍻
you can also get any pry bar and press up on hood, then you can easily get either of those 10mm bolts with a ratchet and a long extension. thanks for the video!
Thanks for the video, was a big help. I found an easier way to remove the two bolts holding in the latch is using a ratchet strap, i pulled the grill downward about 1/4 of an inch, which was a big enough gap to reach my socket extension through and use my ratchet to loosen them. I have a plastic grill and its my work truck, so i wasnt worried about a small scuff on the grill. Understand it wont work cor everyone but hopefully this saves someone the pain of reaching up with a wrench! Total of 2 minutes. Thanks again!
Got the same thing going on with my 96 Ford F250I wish you would have showed where that bolt came from that you took out Could you text me back was that it's the bottom where you couldn't see in the video I figured it out I had to take the one out and really loose in the other 1 which was a real pain ass but thanks for your video I got it just re adjusted the mechanism now It shut like it should
If you can't get it this method or by pulling the release maybe use vise grips to the cable behind the handle. If that doesn't work the only other way I can really think of is using hook style picks or screwdrivers to reach the latch.
OMG I can't even get my 2002 Ford Explorer hood up, enough to wedge any tool under it to trip the latch!! Dang it, the lever is stripped, and I am about to take a blow torch to it. This is one reason why, being a single woman sucks, and have tools, but still cant do it. ERGH.
