This video is super underrated. I've got more cards than I know what to do with and I've been seriously considering just downsizing to the bare essentials for a while now. Very well done!

So I organize my cards a bit differently (I think everyone does) but I really like the idea of just 3 copies of one card, one extra just in case. My card situation is nowhere as bad, but I really need to clear up space. Also I never thought about penny sleeves. This definitely gives me some ideas, thanks Tombox.

I wish I took better care of my cards in my early years. Might not have the potato chip collection I do now. I'm pretty happy with my own method for now. I'm just really glad that spreading the good word on organizing cards like this is becoming more and more mainstream.

I also recommend, if the time exists, to put this into a tcgplayer collection as well. Let's you track card prices of your entire collection decently quickly

In the standard method, you will from time to time have a few gems thanks to ban lists unbanning. Yah price tracking is very useful.

As someone who completed the organization of his cards, this advice is a bit late for me, but some of the suggestions and tips were used in my own work, so it feels good to see common thinking. I have a tip to share with you and all duelists out there: Make an extra deck pool. Instead of making extra decks for every deck, make a pool of extra deck cards that all of your decks will pull from. Have up to a playset of all cards you were(minus banned cards), are and will play in your decks so you don't, for example, have to get 10 copies of Accesscode Talker, for your many decks when you can just have one to use.
@DeathLacooda
@DeathLacooda Год назад
Sh*t, does that mean my 12th copy of Accesscode Talker (the one for my opti Exodia deck) wasn't necessary?
@Blitzenking
@Blitzenking Год назад
@Genovirus Hehehe! It's up to you. You can get some money back, get a card(s) you really need via trade, or make on hell of a page with Accesscodes. The sky's the limit, not your wallet or cardbox space.
@EliteElk221

combine this with just keeping all of your extra-decks in the same sleeve color and it's perfect. I personally like keeping them in Green Sleeves since I don't use that color for any main deck that I play.

your point about googling cards is exactly my method. Instead of assuming ill go through synchros seeing if there's something useful, id rather search on something like dueling book then go in and find the card quickly, if i have it or not

Thanks for the great ideas, currently I've been organising by card type (thunder, dragon, continuous spells, etc) but sorting them into sets of 3 aswell makes sense as my dabl case has annoyed me to no end

Funny enough, I am this person already. I actually am a small seller on TCGPlayer (Roughly 1100 sales in 2 years), so Ii have an "inventory" box that I keep sorted for my listed cards. Of course, its mainly just bulk once people pick through the good stuff on there, but it's there nonetheless. As for my others, I have a box and set of binders for collection. I prefer to binders for my low-mid tier($10 or less) foil cards in quality 9 pocket sleeves, usually sleeving anything 5 or more for extra protection. I have those sorted by set in chronological order, and split by "types". Core Sets/Side Sets in one. Collector Sets in another. Then I have all my legacy cards in their own binders. Then I keep a box for all the commons/rares from those sets and most important, I have them all organized by card # and use cut index cards with the set code/name written on top used like tabs. Then I keep a whole other set of cards in something I dont love right now, but those are the "playable" or play use cards. All expensive cards are in a hanging display case I own! Thanks for the vid. Love the suggestions, will probably use some myself!

I have my own way of organizing my own collection but your video definitely gave me a lot of helpful tips moving forward. I have a collection of roughly 10000 cards and I have ordered them by release date. My cards are seperated by each rarity (foils in their own binder and common bulk stored in mega tins) as well has my staples and most used cards in a seperate binder. I found that ordering by set release date was the best way to organize my collection because for binders, I would never have to reorganize them, I would be able to keep adding pages with each newer set that comes out. In terms of finding cards from my collection. I have a spreadsheet of single card I own as well as the set the card is from and the quantity of each card. This method took a while to set up but I have been using it for the past 1.5 years and I found that it works very efficiently for me. Also, I love the 3+1 copies of card rule and I have many commons and super rares that I have more than 4 copies of. Does anyone know where I can sell bulk in the Vancouver BC region?

Personally I sorted foils and non foils separately and I sorted all monsters based on attributes and level. The spells/traps sorted based on type; normal, quickplay, field, tokens, ect I labeled everything with dividers with toploader and bought small labels for them. On top of that I labeled each box so I know wich box to search right away. Really like this system I did with my collection.

Something that I do is using binders for older formats. While we can't use a card like cold wave because it's banned or a card like caius because it's simply not good enough for modern yugioh. They're good in Edison format. These cards go into the edison binder or in this case go with edison bulk. This may take up a little more space but it makes it much easier to get to cards you need for those other formats.

For those selling cards, you need to sort them by SET NUMBER and then NAME. You get your listings sold in that manner so it makes it a lot easier to track those cards down. For collecting and playing, I have my index card (1-card) in binders (sorted by set) and leave spaces for missing cards. Really expensive collector cards like Starlights don't get in these binders. Then I dump the other 2 cards in boxes similar to the way TomBox describes. Card color/type then by name. Banned cards, I keep separate.

I have close to 5000 cards in my collection. I spent hours alphabetizing them among 7 binders, their original magazines they came in, or their 'pockets' in the sets that they were in (Legendary Collection binders/box) as it helps me know what all I have. 5 of the binders are alphabetized with the word 'The' being ignored. Binder 6 is for complete (or near complete) sets/decks. The final binder is for the cards I have more than 3 copies of for sale, trade, or gifting out. The reason for this organization? I tried sorting by rarity, type, category but people seemed to steal from me when I asked them to help me build a deck or let them look at what all I had. I alphabetized one binder and the thefts stopped since it would be obvious if they swiped a card from me.

It’s been a long time, but (for the most part) spells and traps are fully alphabetized and I’m working on monsters now. Next will proably be extra deck and I’m just gonna yeet into a box alphabetized (as one section) I want to make binder display but I can’t really do all that yet

I almost wish I could get rid of my binders and go for a different method but I collect complete sets (minus overpriced shit like starlights, ghosts, and collector rares) and sometimes the sleeves, binders, pages, and space I need can be overwhelming.

As a collector, I have no need for organising cards so that I can find multiple cards multiple times. I really only need to fish out cards if I'm selling them or when completing sets etc. Once I've pulled out all the cards I am collecting - which I don't need to really keep track of their value - I sort all the excess cards: For commons and rares - when I open a set I just put all the cards in a storage box, with a divider denoting the set. For holos - I load onto tcgplayer mobile app and organise by value in 5 lists: - < $3 (storage boxes) - $3 - $10 low end binder(s) - $10 - $20 back of high end binder - $20 - $100 front of high end binder - $100 + (top loaders in a protected storage case) Every month or so I just sort the 5 lists by value on the app - anything that changes value I can see and move to the correct category if I want to, or, more importantly it will give me heads up that I should maybe list them to sell if a card has sharply increased in value. It's a bit of work whenever you open a new set but its the most efficient way of keeping on top of card value and super quick to do a spot check at any time without having to stay constantly up to date with the meta etc.

I was thinking, if I have every card in sleeve upside down (perfect fit) for double sleeving and then i will put it in the storage, will the card after some time got injured by that? ( im asking cuz im casual player and often changing deck and pack it in double sleeves like that)

I´ve got an very fkin expensive and labor intensive way to sort my cards, its in binders with Ultra Pro 9 pocket pages First its Deck ArchetypesA-Z, within the Archetypeits the Extra deck first, in order of the release ( newest mechanic first ) then their rank from low to high and within that from A-Z. After that its the same for Main Monsters, following with spells from A-Z and last Traps from A-Z Second i have an Meta Binder, that contains all Meta Relevant Cards Sorted by their Usage Handtraps, Spells, Traps, Floodgate Monsters, Floodgate Spells, Floodgate Traps Third are the Monsters non related to Archetypes and their support Spell/ Traps, those are sorted by their Type and the same as its in the Archetypes Fourth the Summon Mechanics got an Binder Aswell, sorted by Mechanic and within as all before Lastly there are Binders for the bad Spell/Traps Sorted by Spells and the spell sub sorts , within from A-Z. Same with Traps Everytime i get new Cards that are not in Archetypes its decent labor but it feels so good to just dont have to snd any time to search and stuff, i just grab the Binder and can see how many copies or if i even own the card

I get the zipper thing, but side loading binders preventing cards from falling out doesn't make sense to me, wouldn't they just fall out if someone put it in sideways then?
@MSTTV
@MSTTV Год назад
No, it's not natural to put a binder in sideways because the binders are wider and it is uncommon for people to put items in their bag like that and. The side load are not outward facing so if cards fall, they are sliding towards the inside of the binder.

Oh… What I thought of doing is to sort by archetype and then organize any that don’t fit in any of them by type.
@MSTTV
@MSTTV Год назад
That method is a nightmare, i did that when i started... the problem starts when you get dual archetypes, archetype less, what wasn't an archetype becoming an archetype and generic type. Which means you sort the archetype and then gotta keep doing mini sorting games and are at the mercy of game designers.
