Wasn't expecting such a detailed and well edited video on card sorting so I gotta say I'm impressed. Exactly the way I do it when sorting cards for selling. It's so easy to put a system into place to avoid having to spend up to an hour looking for that 1 card you know you put "around here somewhere".

My wife and I just alphabetized my collection and it has made finding cards dramatically easier. My collection is only a few thousand cards, but when you're trying to find a single bulk card, having them sorted is a huge time saver.

I think I fall around a case per set cards depending, other wise it’s usually just a single box if something catches my interest. Though with tins it’s always a set, some times 2 with the second set staying sealed for a few years before resale.

Love the chart. I went from singles only to 4-5 packs in a matter of 2 weeks. Who knows what'll happen from now on

I just have everything sorted in binders by set. That’s infinitely easier. If you’re looking for a specific card, just look for the set that it came in and it’s right there waiting for you. Versus alphabetizing everything where you’ll have to constantly rearrange your collection when new cards come out to squeeze them in.

I especially love using the larger penny sleeves to group cards. Unfortunately, many of my cards are organized into stuff like "Blue-Eyes/Red-Eyes/Dragon support" and "Magicians" including the different Berry Magicians, as if they might actually be useful for throwing them all in a deck.

i organized my yugioh cards by anime season kingdom gx and 5ds and others in that order much easy for me .by the way on amazon for the single sheets you can but the side loading ones those are a life saver for me .also for me i no longer buy cards in set packs anymore i just buy them from troll and toad and my local comic shop my tates comic in florida has a local card shop next door .

Hey MST could you do a video on sleeves and how to properly sleeve?.

I like this system. Currently, my cards are sorted as follows. All common main deck monsters are sorted by type of monster alphabetically, starting with aqua - zombie. Then my extra deck commons are together by type of extra deck monster. My holos are kept seperate, sorted by main deck monster, then extra deck by type again, then all spells and traps together. Common spells and traps are sorted by type of spell or trap and thats it. And I put everything in 3 ring binders so I can view the effects without lifting them out of a box.

Very useful video! Currently I've been organizing my bulk/cards by set release, then in set number within that set. I've considered Alphabetical sorting, but when I get a bunch of boxes of a new set in I feel like it is easier to organize that section of new stuff, than to split it up across everything. the way I do it is even more simple it all goes by type of card nomal, effect, trap, spell, pendullem, syncro, and i seperate them by binders and by shoe boxes like the 4 slotted ones and i take all the commons and those are the ones I just toss in a box and don't care for only foils and holos are kept

I'm fortunate enough to be able to buy 1 Box of every set that comes out and have done so since the 2020 Mega Tins. I sort by set release because it just feels easier when storing the cards. All the cards go in one spot (sorted by the set number like ANGU-001) and it's not that much of a hassle if I go looking for it later. Anything cheaper than $1 on TCGPlayer goes in my bulk DUDE boxes (though I'm gonna grab penny sleeves now. thanks for that) and anything more than that goes in a binder (not sorted by set release because that IS a pain to sort if I end up buying an older pack. same for alphabetical). EDIT: Any thoughts on Silica Gel, Tom?

For YGO, my method is: >1 collection copy for a set I sheet and binder up >doubles and beyond are broken down into two sets, ones I have a playset of and ones I don't (this does not count the collection set - a playset only starts after the collection set is completed so I have at least 4 copies of everything I have a playset of) >both of those groups get further broken down by rarity >they then all get sorted in their individual rarities by alphabetical set and number order >at this point playsets of Super Rare or higher get toploadered >the non-playsets get penny sleeved in groups of 3 per sleeve (if there's only one or 17 causing a remainder of 2 then that's a sleeve and 6 sleeves, one of which only has 2 in it, respectively) and separated by set >each bunch is then sorted based on how I like the general look of the rarity >storage is then broken down into toploaders, penny sleevers, rare playsets, rare non-playsets, common playsets, and common non-playsets >everything is plastic or metal, bugs like paper products such as cardboard and I am not coming back to find the boxes and cards eaten Further still, if I have 5+, I also give one to my brother. He is not really into buying them but he likes them. Dragons (and Blue-Eyes) in particular. Not uncommon for me to have 5+ so I might as well. Anything beyond 5 copies is then also broken down in the same way as the others, except I don't bother sleeving anything or anything because they're basically just garbage that I haven't convinced my inner hoarder to throw out yet. I don't sell things and I take good care of my stuff so the 4 is all I will ever need. Especially since there's probably a reprint around the corner even if I set out to make a new deck that needs something I have in others already. As for set orders being bad like you say, I have a memory. I know where to look directly when I need something. I remember what's in every set by number order. And indeed even what order the sets are in I just prefer alphabetical. So I see no reason to do it any other way. Though I should also point out this is true of both 1st edition and unlimited where they exist meaning I either have 8 copies of a card in a standard set or I am currently looking to get there if possible (I basically buy 2 or 3 displays and then buy singles once I have all of the commons x4 since at that point I would only have a chance to get one card I actually want per pack which is a waste of my time more than anything). Also, I have to question who would sort by things like attribute. I mean I do that for my decks when not in use but the thousands of cards in my collection? That's just silly. Not all decks have everything obviously, but where present decks get sorted as: >main deck >normal monster (by descending priority level/ATK/DEF/alphabetical) >effect monster (by descending priority level/ATK/DEF/alphabetical) >ritual monster (by descending priority level/ATK/DEF/alphabetical) >spell cards (purely alphabetical) >trap cards (purely alphabetical) >extra deck >fusion monster (by descending priority level/ATK/DEF/alphabetical) >synchro monster (by descending priority level/ATK/DEF/alphabetical) >XYZ monster (by descending priority rank/ATK/DEF/alphabetical) >link monster (by descending priority link rating/ATK/DEF/alphabetical) >side deck is the same, obviously

So far I categorize my cards on sets with card that mainly staples on there (like for example, I have all my Warrior extenders with my Gouki monsters, because if gonna play those its probably gonna be there), Extra Deck (just like you I put on Link, Syncro, XYZ, Fusion, but my order between those is random haha), Spells, Traps and Generic Cards that could see play somewhere but dont have specific home and handtraps. Long before I started playing YGO, I have a collection of Manga/Comics/Books, so Im used to have some method for organization. One thing I would like to see when u talk about sleeves, I would like if u could about double sleeving, what type of sleeves we should be using for double,

I like to sort by arcetypes then the rest alphabetical. That way if I want to build a certain deck I don't have archetype cards in random places. Just look for the arcetype I want grab the stack and build from there.

I use wine boxes separating my cards by their possible use in sleeves and by type using plastic barriers that I got from my online purchases. You can separate by archetype, Monster type, use, etc... I have sleeves for my board breakers floodgates, handtraps, negates, searchers, etc... Though my collection is not as massive as a yugituber's for sure

You know this was missing in the community I think. Have not seen quite sorting of anyone's collection or how they sort their cards.

Would you recommend regular binders with the loose pages rather than the stitched binders?

Is there a storage container for sleeved yugioh cards, that doesn't leave a lot of space on the side? (All storage containers seem to be designed for Pokemon and MTG sized cards.)

I have 5 really big, full binders, which could hold 1000 cards, each. ( no this does not damage them ) i just alphabetized them all, i did not want to spit hairs and categorize them in spells/traps/monsters/XYZ/links/etc... i'm not collecting really, i just sell them. ( sure i buy like the megatins or a box or more if i really like the set ) once every 3 months i check the value, to see if it still hold up, if not i change it up/down depending on the card prize average that i calculate myself. ( example: card X sells from €0,02 up to €0,10, the difference is €0,08, half of that is €0,04 and that plus €0,02 = €0,06, so €0,06 is my prize for that card ) which won't make me the cheapest but also not the most expensive seller. ( and yes that keeps me busy for like a weekend every 3 months, but i think it's worth it ) as for card i need/want, i keep them in my handtrap/staple binder, which is rather small, i just keep the 3 copies of each card next to each other.

right now I'm start collecting Yugioh. I only keep one copy of each cards from 1st ed released, rest of them I sold it online in bulk or single. Maybe I do the same like you, I organized it from each card name based on alphabet :)

Sell me your bulk! Haha (I’m actually serious). I love getting bulk in an fully sorting. I do agree with your suggestions, but I personally do sort by attribute. I have a 5 row box for each attribute, so I just grab that box. It also makes it easier to initially sort than going through ALL S’s, G’s and the other letters that are massively populated.

I have a 3 rule! I buy 3 of every structure, 3 of every tin, 3 of every main box, 3 of every special box, and after that I buy singles. I like the fun aspect of having the chance at opening packs, but I know it's a waste of money if you don't pull those chase cards, so I try to limit it. It paid off today, I bought 3 boxes of Lightning Overdrive and pulled a STARLIGHT RARE LYNA THE LIGHT CHARMER and life is good 😂😂

Huh, I guess this isn't exactly what I was looking for. I guess the question I'm really asking is, what's the best way to find a card with a specific effect? Let's say I didn't know that Compulsory Evacuation Device even existed, but I need a card that can bounce a card back to the hand, where would I go or what would I do to find such a card, outside of reading all 10,000 cards

The organizational acuity of these systems is only as valid as the question asked...if they know they want a dark magician, you find it with your method, if they dont remember the name but know the highest value either attack or defense then you have just as equally valid a way of getting it in a point level system. My system also isnt for them,its for me, so it takes no time to search up its stats and find it
