I'm getting back into RDR2O. I played on launch all the way through the beta to level 170 something. I'm just now getting back into it these last couple weeks, and I've watched a ton of RU-vidrs. You are by FAR the best and have the most information that is actually USEFUL. This is the best rdr2 channel for intermediate and advanced players. Great job, my friend. I'd really like to see a video on techniques to get kills with slippery bastard. Like how to use it in the most effective ways in pvp/pve. I got a lot out of your other video abt slippery bastard. I was mainly a SAS user the whole time I played. Really enjoy your stuff man!
@Gamer Shooter actually it's way more than fair.. considering navy is cap/ball irl it would take probably 3 times more time to reload the navy than a standard colt single action (cattleman) not to mention cartridge guns should be considerably more accurate, more effective range, and more damage. If rockstar wanted to level things like they have, they should at least make these guns conversions which were extremely popular during this time period. but it's impossible because ig its clearly still showing caps on the cylinder for both navy and lemats.
Good points, all of them. Hate to say it but I pretty much stopped playing rd2 all together. I have tons of clothing, guns horses, all the camp upgrades all my roles are maxed out. Hell , even crips has every outfit. It's a beautiful game but I was just grinding for nothing and the greifers and in game glitches just left me frustrated. There still hasn't been any updates of any real substance to keep my interested. I finally said fuck it, I'll just wait for gta6 and go back to playing call of duty.
@@12joelmn understood. I just got the game through game pass and as an OG player who played red dead revolver on ps1 all the years ago I'm loving the game. I'm sorry for the guys who have played for a while and have nothing left to do but I went through the same when gta5 was on 360... just pray next gen system means red dead online will receive huge updates like gta5 did. which would mean weapons, more horses, more roles and maybe heists or property.... hopefully more Wagons with an attach/detach owned horse options. As a new player who is afraid I will run out of content I seriously pray next gen means 5 years of great content like gta5 has seen...
Navy revolver is pretty much my go to sidearm now. I rare use a secondary sidearm and this thing is great for speed draw, i hip fire a lot at close range.
Yeah the stupid ball and cap guns reload waaaay to fast. Doesn't matter to me though. I'm gonna stick with my Schofields, if for no other reason then in real life it's the best option. That and with gunslinger perk and express rounds (hell even with out em) you can 2-shot chest shot most AI enemies anyway. At that point it doesn't really matter what your using, as long as you like it.
@@AdhinJTthey are modified cap and balls I noticed that the other day when I was reloading the Navy revolver the character reloaded with a shell instead of a cap ball and gun powder.
@@aaronm3670 There not. It's probably just the 'bullet model' they use for everything. If it was a modified Navy Revolver there would be a cut in the back to allow you to slide the cartridge in from the back, not the front. And there wouldn't be the hinged plunger. Unless you mean it's a paper cartridge, in which case yeah. You still have to slide that in, use the plunger, then place a cap. All of which takes a pretty long time.
For PVE i prefer the Mauser. Something satisfying about fanning the trigger & watching them react to the impact. I'll burn through express, high velocity and normal ammo through one mission sometimes.
I agree with pretty much all your choices. I appreciate the mention of the Navy revolver even though it didn't really take a category. I spent so much time/money making a slippery bastard build but never use it because of those beautiful revolvers
I only do PVE and mainly use dual Volcanic. Since the accuracy is so high by the time I'm done aiming for the head, the bloom is small enough for a sure headshot. Even if I missed the first shot, second body shot will finish the job.
My favorite revolvers are the double actions with gunslingers choice they are amazing high fire rate medium damage with Express fast reload and accurate as hefl
I've tried them all but the LeMat is the best imo. Because one flick of the hammer and you have a shotgun, that is saved my ass so many times I can't even begin to count. Plus I'm a big confederate weapons buff and I've always loved the LeMat in real life. So I guess I'm biased.
@@ΣτρατοςΟρφανιδης Pressing ➡ on the D Pad will "flick" the hammer forward and when it falls it ignites the 20ga shotgun barrel underneath the pistol barrel.
You can also set it up to auto switch (in the controls menu) so that when you run out of bullets it will auto fire the shotguns. All you have to do to not use your shells prematurely is to reload at 9 shots. These have become my go to for PVE because of the extra bullets and fire rate. Dual wield them and load them with two different ammo types to have 444 shots without having to resupply or switch weapons.
Yeah but a real cowboy wouldn’t use a double action he would use a single action like a single action army (cattlemen revolver) or any other single action like the Schofield
@@jax6815 Depends how you are defining cowboy. You talking an actual cattle rustler or the average carry person in the old west. Some prominent people like Doc Holliday had Double Actions.
This was your first video that I discovered and it's it's so useful and down-to-earth that I had to check all other guides (and I learned A LOT). You are not only very pro but I love your humour. Just one suggestion: can you please put the link for part two in the video description. RU-vid automatically plays next another video. Thanks for everything!
I'd like to see something about the slugs for shotguns. Damage tests with different builds maybe. I feel like the standard ammo is better, but I'd love to if there is way to use them
They need a card that reduces bloom when using a single hand gun. Perhaps bigger effect on guns with higher bloom. Basically a gunslinger card for people that like using one gun but with a bigger effect to make up for less shots.
Single sidearm use gets no love. Its my favorite when I have a bounty on my shoulder and a single revolver, and have to try to make every single shot a headshot.
I only started to play Red Dead Online a few days ago. I made sure to use the first starting weapons ( Cattleman and Carbine repeater) to the fullest (max reload speed) before getting another gun. And honestly going from the Cattleman to the Navy revolver is going from eating dog food to a Michelin Star restaurant. I missed so many headshots with the cattleman because it is so slow to get accurate. With navy revolver i get every enemy with headshot even faster than i can get it with the Bolt action.
I still prefer Schofields because it is the fastest to remove all bloom of all single action weapons, but the opinions in this video are not wrong, all one handed weapons have their uses. Personally I think Paint it Black should just have the perfect accuracy in free fire as it's feature rather than marking, then Rockstar could balance it properly rather than it being the ultimate way to score headshots with inaccurate weapons.
I like the Cattleman, then i got another one but when i saw that in events and some missions i can't dual wield i got one Schofield because i read somewhere that it's a bug with same weapon dual wield and you should have different weapons. It doesn't work, bug or feature, having different guns still can't dual wield. Saw all the hype around other guns and decided to mix them a bit and test for myself. I like the Navy revolver, reloads slow but i get the same Cattleman feeling while firing it. Regarding damage i can't really say that one is better than the other. All pretty much feel the same to me. Headshots kill with one bullet, body shots two or more. It feels that Navy kills npc's with two body shots most of the time but it's not a rule. I even had one encounter with a random npc where i shot 4 bullets around his neck or heat area until he died. Volcanic is ok but i don't really like it. Fire rate is annoying. LeMAt os ok too, pretty neat with 9 bullets and that shotgun shell if you need it. Reloads kind of slow though. Pretty much in the same ball park with the Navy. I thought about the rest but i don't think it's really worth it. Double action revolver seems bad, the one that doesn't worth it at all. The other pistols seem ok but are too expensive to be attractive. Fire rate looks cool but paired with low damage and low ammo carry capacity i don't think it's worth it. I think i prefer revolvers for being cheaper and more economical. Now i'm playing with Navy primary and LeMAt secondary. So far i like how they perform and of course how they look. Pistols look bad, specially that Mauser on side holster.
I do the same combination, except I primary leMat and secondary Navy. I also think this is one of the best all around combinations in the game. One shotgun blast for very close encounters and the 9 bullets it has plus 6 from the navy. Then you have the navy revolver for fast reloading in tense situations.
There's critical zones that you can shoot for extra damage, there are rules. Highlight an NPC with dead eye and you'll see gray, dark red and light red zones. Aim for heart or head for insta kill, dark red areas for a critical shot and gray areas for base damage. You can cripple npcs by shooting them in the spine or shoot them in the kneecaps to knock them over. Lung shots to the back make them disengage from combat, walk a few metres and then drop to the floor in agony where you can finish them off or leave them to bleed out.
I used to do this a lot especially in the solo game. Schofield on the right and a sawed of on the left for when you need to end something quick. I feel like the Schofields really don't cut it online though.
Valuable information each time you make a video. Thank you for your time, each time. You have helped me improve that's for sure. Peace all...the the Revenue Agents show !!
@@talen7698 Nah I think they will, they even added that new bounty hunter outfit that really seems out of place (my main outfit right now), they want to add more content, so an already made weapon is sure on the list, npcs even were found carrying it and it was also data mined I think at some point
BIG duel wield style player and love close to midrange shootouts. I just stopped using my trust Lematts I was addicted to for 2 Navys and I do think they may be slightly better. Still not sure but it's by far my favorite way to play. Thanks for all your amazing work and videos 🖤🙏
Great video as always. I have been really struggling with making a sidearm choice. I run slippery mainly and although sawed offs are great you need to get really close to use them. PIB players can use a shotgun with a better range than the sawed off and kill a slippery player before often you can get close enough with sawed offs. So I have been using my favorite pistol (semi auto) and shutting off Slippery and shooting the target. Still a work in progress. Do you have any recommendations for an effective sidearm choice for slippery. I thought even Lemats. Where I could switch to Shotgun if opponent gets close and could have some distance too with the lemats.... thoughts??? Thank you for the video.
@@PVPCat yeah seems to be the way to go. What do you think of using the Lancaster or Bolt with a scope for mid range instead of the bow? Of Course Carcano for long to mid range?
I use double double actions they are great with gunslingers choice and PIB i get a lot of headshots using them also i like them cuz there few players using it so i feel like it's special for me XD looks good and sounds good only one disadvantage : i get a lot of reports from players when i headshot them using double actions
Sawed off shot guns are the best hand guns in the game. I dual wield sawed off shot guns with Slippery Bastard and the dual wield card and I win 90% or more of the close quarters fights.
@@Philzoid Doble barrel is good but I prefer to have a bolt action and a Carcano on my back. With those guns and the dual sawed offs I'm pretty much ready 4 anything. I can kill on close range, mid range and snipe from afar.
Have seen all your videos btw, ty for the time and effort you are putting into making them. You where my guide when I started 70 days ago. And you still are. Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻
The Mauser really isn't the best weapon in this game, nor is "Paint It Black" the best meta deadeye card in the game either, since both are easily countered by shotguns and "Slow and Steady" plus "Slippery Bastard". Also technically the Navy Revolver is NOT balanced atm since it's overtuned and far outclasses the schofield because of the higher damage, fire rate, and accuracy, they really need to change the stats a bit with the navy so the schofield isn't left in the dust anymore.
@@МдйЅсђмїфт It is a fact that PIB will lose to SAS. I Watched a 1v1 a few days ago with 2 players both over lvl 400 and the one using SAS won 20 to 10. These are pvp players not pve. With lvl 3 tonic and big game meat it takes at least 4 headshots to kill the SAS user. If SAS user also spams the lancaster with the crouching glitch it isnt even close.
I Dual wield fully upgraded Navy Revolvers with Paint it Black 3, Gunslingers Choice 3, Winning Streak 3, and Come Back Stronger 3 against really good players or I might switch out the last card with The Short Game 3. Its a power build for up close gunfights. I'm at level 502. I rarely lose.
Great Video as always! Hope to see a shotgun comparison from you. If u have to choose for pvp would it be Lancaster or Bolt action? Keep it up pvpcat! Seeing ur video is always an instant click :)
I actually like dual cattleman, let's face it, Mauser and semi-auto are garbage with out PIB And yeah the Navy are good choice and I think are much better than the LeMat
The double action revolver used to be so good in RDR1 but online no matter how much I would customize it, I still had a hard time killing targets if I tried to shoot multiple rounds in succession. I had to fire slowly, despite it's feature being that is a fast revolver. I wish I didn't invest so much gold on it. 😅
I personally think the mousers are the best all around with gunslingers choice i only use the mausers high ammo capasity high accuracy high fire rate and in call to arms you can pick up pistol ammo you cant on revolvers only problem is the ammount of ammo you can carry but still love em
If you get the pistol pouch from the fence I think you can carry 200 regular rounds for them… but not for high velocity/express sadly :/ still helpful when you’re low tho. I recommend using a Mauser with a double action or cattlemen so you use separate ammo, while still having a super quick fire rate ✌️✌️
Now that we can have 200 rounds in an ammo pouch for a pistol. Is Le-Mat revolver still the best for PvE? I mean, they both kill in 3-4 shots, but mausers are a lot faster, and have 1 round more...
@Dax P Cool... I tried it and now i can't stop using them... The fire rate is just sooo fast, even tho it needs 3-4 shots to the body, you just don't notice it bcs its so fast... You will be killing enemies in less than a second... And if you r using paint it black to mark headshots... Mausers are beasts... I am never going back to the LeMats
Have said it enough times - for PVP and revolvers : 1. DA 2. CATTLLEMAN 3. NAVY/LEMAT . Pvp and pistols: 1. MAUSER 2. MAUSER 3. MAUSER. Mausers are op, otherwise DA for 1v1 are on par. For pve - you can play with a slingshot if u like:)
Priviet Mr Cat i love your videos and your work on them and yes i would like to see a part II! Also i want to ask a question. Is there a tank build for longevity and being able to hold up?in pvp i face so many PiB snipers and in general PiB users,i hate PiB with passion I would appreciate the help :) thank you :D
Suck with the lemat honestly. I've been using the Navy's since day one that they came out and meh....i feel like the extra bullets and shotgun shells help way more in a pinch. The navys let mendown several times already
Their good to duel weild if you have the right ability cards. Plus like the sound and gun smoke from the gun. My favorite combo isn't even duel weilding. It's one sawed off shotty for close up and the lemat for the med range or turn on the buck shot to duel weild two shot guns
Thanks as always Cat. One thing though...what about PvP in PvE? Not being a smartass. Meaning, fighting other players in Free Roam? It's a different type of combat than PvP in Showdown. Just something to consider is all. I think the Navy and LeMat still shine for this though as they offer a lot of versatility and player-to-player combat in Free Roam can vary widely during a fight.
I like my navys and lemats the most, but maybe if i get as practiced and disiplined with the autos or mausers they could be better. I do enjoy the double actions
I agree, this is a very good video. I am playing on a controller. The navy revolvers are both very good in pvp and pve. They destroy the npc’s with 1 head shot. And insane in pvp using gunslingers choice + peak condition. I use slow and steady tho.
You can buy pistol ammo pouch now so it is fine. I have completed many Call to Arms with duel wield volcanic pistols always top kills even finished with 399 today. I will get ammo from crates especially early. I have 200 regular, 100 high velocity, 50 split point and 100 express so 450 bullets with most enemies dropping from headshots or 2-3 body. Anyways plenty of bullets unless you have no ammo crates and need to kill 300 with just pistols.
I prefer the Schofield to the navy, it fires and reloads faster. I use it as my close-med range with gunslingers choice and peak condition Kills a fully reinforced player in 3 shots, and is great for pve.
As for the best Revolver for PVP, I’d still say it’s the LeMat. Damage is irrelevant due to it taking both the Navy and LeMat 3 body shots to kill so the LeMat has more positives and brings more to the table than the Navy including 9 rounds, faster reload speed, less damage drop off from longer ranges and finally, a shotgun mode. 9 shots vs 6 shots can mean all the difference. You can kill one extra player with a LeMat than you could with a Navy.
I think that semi autos are better than the Mauser because they have a faster fire rate, their reload is amazingly fast and paint it black doesn't care about accuracy.
Hi pvpcat, so far no one can analyze the rdo weaponry and abilities as good as you do ( in my opinion). in pvp the Mauser pistols with express ammo is the best but the down side is that we can’t purchase express bullets. That sucks isn’t it? So I use regular ammo. 😕
I just got the volcanic this week. Been running it with a Lemat and find the fire rate to be very similar or maybe even the same? Haven't tried it in pvp yet. Gonna try it out since it's 3x rewards in MP this week.
I personally really don't like the cattleman. Slow reload, takes those extra few .0 seconds to lineup vs schofield, and feels weaker to me. The only nice thing I find is the hipfire. Schofield is, and always will be, my go to. Very quick bloom effect, reload, and accuracy. But those mausers though, shiiiiiiiiit. They aint no joke.
My favorite is the semi auto pistols. I think that comes from playing with them as Arthur and John. But I need to branch out more so this video helps a lot. And I’d definitely like to see part 2.
The Navy Revolver is obviously the best all around but I use the Bounty Hunter version of my Schofields because the Navy sticks too far out of the bottom of the holster.
I use the mausers in pve and i never run out of ammo. I don't fire them like a maniac though, I can headshot every enemy with the mouse easily with that gun. 10 guys - 10 shots. I don't use paint it noob either or any dead eye cards actually. The navy revolver for me can be used the same way as the mausers can in pve or pvp. Of course on pc you have to deal with the fact that 99.9% of a players attacking you are going to use the carcano or rolling block camper rifle or will just be cheating.
Best weapon is one that can shoot fast and hold lots of ammo in the chamber/magazine if u do headshoots only then every gun is best the only difference would be range and accuracy
