Watch video and practice at home with pen and paper. Just draw 2 lines like a road and connect them like you would while welding. This helps me out tremendously.
The more i see welding and shop content the more i realize my high school shop teacher was a monster. He always told us he could be making 100 an hour plus per diem anytime he wants but he loves teaching. We always thought it was talk. But seeing more made me realize that guy was an absolute master of every form of welding in every position. Everything these welding academy youtube channels has said has been a direct quote my teacher said to me ten years ago. God bless you Tom Hull wherever you might be.
Been welding 20 yrs....got into it later in life..... ive tried lincoln, miller...even knock off brands...auto and fixed shade... best ive had by far is my weldcote true view. Nice viewing field, clear af, and the tru view brings that puddle color to life
The best welding lens i ever used had a reflective surface like a mirror that reflected the light away, which made everything very clear and easy to see
I have a cool blue or clear blue ultra I think its american optics mine has a gold glass on top of the blue glass its all glass . Every pipe welder on the RTcrew had that lens they are high I paid 300 for mine that sounds high BUT if you testing for a job paying 50 to 60 an hr 2000 in and 2000 out 375 a day perdium and double over 40 you don't want a lens that flashes when you are in a limited access simulator. with mirrors those auto lenses are shit I would Pay 1000 for another one if I break all that I have .and I have extra just in case some ass hole steals my hood if you find one buy it
@@240sxRule correction I don't use the american optics anymore I use a wens lens .it's the same as american optics but it has the gold on the front all glass . The american optics is just blue glass changed because we heard they caused cataracts no facts to back that up it spooked us .wens lens added the gold so we all changed them out . Great lens
When I started welding auto darkening lenses didn't exist. When they first came out they were pricey but when I could afford it I got one and absolutely loved it.
The new miller elite has an amazing lens! Crystal clear, and auto darken? Cant go wrong in any way. And I weld everything in all positions, my greatest investment.
Everyone talking about shade 10 or even shade 11. I mig weld aluminum catamarans and ive been running shade 13 since i can remember but i can also run shade 12. Shade 11 will leave spots in my vision. Aluminum welding is really bright i guess.
This is what I found this best for your eyes is a darker the lens the better for your eyesight in the long run but it doesn’t make any difference after 45 years of welding it becomes a strain it might be because of old age I’m 65 now and I will glasses
I worked with a dude that had some welding helmet from Switzerland I never heard of. It was unbelievably better than anything else I've ever seen. I forget how much he said it was but I remember it was alot
I have classical speedglas 9100x and adflo 9100xx, the biggest surprise was how less tired eyes are after a day of light welding. on the same lens 9100xx.
I'm pretty new, just started school like 6 months ago but I went with an Optrel crystal hood recently and I think it was worth the price. Tried out the viking and esab and I like mine better. I know he's talking about the lenses but still.
Careful if you use auto dark. Fixed shades feel lighter even with the shade being the same. Just a bit of thought if youre gonna weld 8 gours a day, your eyes are you money.
I like the 24c mainly because Lincoln has a great warranty i have one of those 3350 hoods and the lens kept overheating so Lincoln just sent me a whole new hood
The arc ones I've had( the largest one they make) have both crapped out just after the 3 year warranty period was up. No more. Looking for new lense. I feel so used. 😫
@@danielmartin531 it’s a perfect soft white arc not straight blue, it’s almost like welding with sunglasses on..really hard to find in a fixed shade lens (I have the auto too and it’s just as good)
I was 10 years old my family had a welder and I try to weld a piece of metal I didn't realize you're supposed to wear welding goggles day-and-a-half in the hospital I I learned my Lassen
