You should be able to use it but you may need an adapter cable to go from the 3.5mm audio jack into whatever port your phone has. Apple would have a lighting cable more and andriod phones tend to have a USB-C port. When I was recording into a Google Pixel 2 phone I also needed a TRRS mic cable amzn.to/3tEvgqs

My cousin and I are going to begin podcasting 3 hour shows. 4K is too big to upload from Australia and is slow to edit. 1080p is good enough. We live about 1000km away from each other. My cousin will send me the RAW 3 hour 1080p videos from his end to me so I can edit them at home. We will communicate throughout the video podcast via phones with headsets - this audio will not be recorded but it will enable us to hear each other. We will each wear a wireless lapel mic with the battery pack transmitter on our belts. A lightweight 6 foot tripod will hold a good lowlight 1080p camera with self facing monitor, a diffused LED light and the receiver for the lapel mic. At the end of a podcast, he will transmit the 3 hours of raw footage to me so I can begin editing. We each have an internet connection of around 0.3Mbps Upload / 4 Mbps Download - typical for Australia in 2019. It would take days to send footage to one another, so potentially he will back up footage on his computer, swap out an SD card and mail it to me. Questions: Which cameras should we get for ease of use and price? (I currently use an iPhone XR which has a 1080p self facing camera but it costs $1000). Which lighting should we get? Uniform lighting would mean a circle of light around the lens mounted nicely to the tripod. Which tripod should we get? We want to be able to pick it up and take it with us from room to room in the house so a mic stand is the correct weight. Which lapel mics should we get? What is the best way to mount these things to a tripod, or tell me what cage/shoes are required. If you recommend anything with low battery or filming duration or recommend a bad data system that creates obscure or split video files then I will know you don't know what you're talking about. Syncing his footage and my footage once only for editing is the simplicity we're interested in. Compression is of massive importance as well, as is quality, price, and user friendliness.
