The best guide a person can use is your own good judgment. It’s one thing to pitch everything coming down the road and another to include things that fit with the goals you have set for yourself personally. Great content 👍.
I have no problem mixing in some product reviews. The vendor gets exposure and you get something you need. I do prefer that it is mentioned that you are reviewing a gift vs. something you had to buy. Some channels are pretty good about hiding the fact it was a gift.
That seems like a good light. I used to carry a mini mag, but with the twist-on/off, it was constantly turning itself on in my pocket, so when I'd go to use it, the battery would be dead. I might win the prize for weird but useful pocket tools: I carry an inch and a half wide putty knife. I work construction, and I use it for prying trim up enough to get a prybar under without marring it, scraping, getting a start on removing a screw that's spun down past its threads, cleaning grime off other tools, all kinds of stuff. Sounds silly, but it's something I use every day on the job. My boss made fun of it at first, but he borrows it all the time when we're working together, lol.
i know what you mean about the mini mags, when I was a laborer doing highway construction I always carried one 16D nail stuck through my vest... cant tell how you how often that little bugger got used!
Knife great idea. Light was impressive. It'll be nice if people start praying for maybe DeWalt or Milwaukee to come by and say hey you want to try this out and show it to your subscribers👍
Pretty funny. I have virtually all of the same things in my EDC, even the pew pew. I picked up that same light right after they came out and have now had it about three years I think and have had no issues with it. Keep up the great content.
Hey Matt and Roscoe. Bianchi (Be on key) pronunciation. I used them for my duty and home in my 27 year law enforcement career and still use them now. Quality product. Cool flashlight, I'll have to check it out. Carry a spare double A battery, I'm sure depending on how often you use it might drain battery quickly. Good content as always Matt and you and your family stay well.❤️🍻👍
@@DieselCreek coming from a place without a gun culture, this is strange so i do have to ask: aren't they bothersome to carry everywhere? they do have some weight and volume to them and seem like a hassle (concealed at least)
Pocket knives and flashlights, two things you can never have too many of, lol! And I have no problem with you saying you use something and like it. Mainly because I'm betting if you don't recommend something you'll let us know as well.
I've been using rechargeable LED flashlights since they came out. The quality is generally quite good and I like not worrying about whether I have a battery nearby when it goes dead. And not buying batteries makes for zero operation cost.
Thank you for the review. I have no problem with reviews ,has they can be very useful in finding new tools and such. Has always I liked, shared. All my best.
thats my feelings on it, if you see me endorse something you can be certin its something I actually used and was impressed with... ive got no time for marketing BS and lies I asked the guy who sent the light to me point blank if there the product was a dud could I call a spade a spade and he assured he me wanted my honest review. so thats what they got and to my delight it really does seem well made!
Hi Matt, you didn't do it this time, but I'm interested in what you use, and like or hate.. and I'm ok with watching a video like this, but I think you should have some benefits on it as well. So first go to the supplier to allow them to sponsor you..
I am pretty sure this is a given for you but I will say it out loud since it isn't mentioned in the above comment. Also mention if it was free product or other compensation was made.
Greetings from up here in Vermont. Love your channel brother. I carry almost the exact gear you do except my Leatherman goes on my belt. My "freedom delivery machine" is a G26 worn inside the waistband and carried all day/every day. Thanks for keeping it real.
Sorry. I commented on that one item in one of the church videos when I saw it peek out, didn't realize you'd prefer we didn't. You answered my question here though lol. I thought it looked like the Austrian competitors product from what I could see. Anyway, message understood! Keep up the good work, bud.
Tell you what. I'm also cheap, and I do the same thing for a living... can't under value having a quality flashlight in you pocket and being able to clip it on my hat is awesome. I won't walk around without one now
I agree with you about promoting stuff Matt. Advertising stuff you know nothing about is kinda pointless. VPNs sponsoring a forging channel eg but stuff like this is cool, even helpful. Workshop tools, motoring stuff, workwear, PPE are all relevant to *you* and, quite probably, to your subscribers. As long as the product works well, everyone is a winner: the manufacturer gets some targeted advertising; you get a backhander of some sort and your viewers get good info on a product that you have tested - and often, a discount code. Do what you need/want to do to support your channel; just keep it real and *most* of your subs will be happy. It doesn't need to happen in *every* video: in fact; it might be more effective if you only do it *sometimes* Keep doing what you're doing; the channel is growing nicely and the freebies will get bigger too.😁 Cheers for now, Dougie.
i agree with that, im definately not going to be doing promos every week or anywhere close to that, just if something comes my way that we all could benifit from then so be it.
I don't live in the US, but I imagine since there are deer out at your farm there might be a good chance you could meet an occasional bear or cougar there too. To my way of thinking there isn't a darn spray in existence that will 'distract' them like an anti-critter pellet thrower!
I’ve had a few offers to review products. I think I’ve only done 1 or 2 but turned down quite a few as I had no use for them and figured no one who watches would either. Flashlights are definitely something worth sharing. I’m kind of a flashlight junky. I have way too many and still buy more. I’ll have to take a look at this one, looks like a good quality light.
Pew pew? Is there something stinky? It’s a joke ppl, I know what that item is. Your videos have been getting better, congratulations and keep it up, thank you
I enjoy seeing products that are related to the work you do, so I can see/hear your review on it after you've used it. I looked on Olight's website and during my search, I'm pretty sure I read this light is NOT compatible with a Li-Ion, or rechargeable, battery. The blurb I read did not say why, but if you're going to buy one of these at $39.95, or on sale for the next 20 hours for $29.95, you should ask that question if that's a consideration for you. I like their products, I've got a couple rail mount lasers that are quick release, one white and one red, very strong light and great quality.
I think 99% of your audience understands the huge amount of effort it takes for you to make these videos. If that means I have to listen to a 60 second ad about some anti-virus software, so be it! You deserve to make a good income of this show. It's just reality. Just be upfront about it.
I appreciate that attitude, there’s too much time invested in this to not make anything. These light guys didn’t even pay me but the light was cool, I’m supposed to get a kick back off of Anyone that used the link but who knows.
I appreciate your approach for this. You definitely need to monitize as much as you can but I find the random ads annoying as well. I use an olight 900 lumen flashlight every day for my home inspections. I like it a lot. The main issue I had was when it broke. They fixed it but was a 3 month turn around. Annoying when you rely on something every day. I recently bought an Armytek to use as my primary and I keep the olight as a backup. I've used the olight nearly every day for 7 years and it still works pretty darn well, but it's not 100% reliable anymore. I like the function of the olight over the Armytek. I generally stick to 18650 flashlights just because the batteries are rechargeable and you can use 2 cr123 batteries in place of the 18650 of you don't have a charger.
where is the light made? I love cool tools. Like you, I've used the cheapies, and they never hold up long, even though they pretty much only see a lot of carry, not much actual use. But then again, I carry around like 8 knives, a folding pair of pliers (not leatherman brand) A four way small screwdriver, change, and odd nuts and bolts. When I was buying pocket knives all the time in thrifts and what not, I'd stick them in my pocket and forget about them. One day I decided to clear out my pocket... I had 29 various pocket knives in my pockets. IF need be, since you like minimalist stuff, you could go to a "shoestring" holster, they can literally be made from a shoe string, tho most prefer the leather boot laces. they're really simple. You make a loop on one end that fits your weapon, then take the string through you belt and tie it off wherever it feels right. This is for an inside the waste band or belt carry. If you find yourself without a holster, it will do the job. Not that you'd want to use it daily, but say your holster gives up before you get another... it could do the job for a few days.
Good stuff, if it makes you happy then do it. It's your channel and I'd still watch even if their are advertisements for products. Patiently waiting for progress on the church project.
Olight, excellent carry choice, like mine. Now for a nice leather accessory carry choice, I suggest Andrews Leather. Leatherman, is there another choice?
This may sound like a silly question but on some points there are more than an ocean between our countries. Few years ago in Texas, the old route 66 we were on trasnformed into a dirt road with no one in sight for miles. Several times, we had to drive through some gate with the cattle grid and the metal arch above the road. No ranch's name, nothing on it. We drove for miles and thankfully never been shot at. ^^ Though we never knew if we were entering private property or what. That makes me wonder about the socially accepted behavior in the US regarding entering someone's property. E.G. If I got a flat near your property. Am I allowed to walk your alleyway down to your buildings? Or shall I stay along the main road? What if there are some "no trespassing sign"? Are there a "must-abide" sign or just for door to door salesmen?
peoples opinions verry, I dont like having people on my land unless i know about it, areas like texas where you are miles from anyting can be a bit different, around here id say you are better to walk the road to somewhere less isolated, walking all the way to my isolated shop at the farm would be suspicious in my mind unless you coud see me down there working or something and know I could help you.
i have to say you do a pretty good product review might even give that ave guy a run for his money! i like a good honest product review and wouldnt mind seeing more!
Matt Olite makes a great product they've also got rechargable lites as well as lights that'll clip to a sidearm w/a laser sight Bianchi also makes awesome stuff
Hi again... good video ... being a carpenter all my life (so far) I carry the same things ... less the weapon... my youngest son carries one ... not sure the brand ... seems you young guys feel a need to carry ... frightening for me ... anyway I'm ok with marketing products you use in your profession ... seem logical. So on with my day ... involves a Kubota BX25D... thanks
My dog is/was the same way till I force/command to lay and he did and then when his meal was done, I would say breakfast and his feet got traction on it and since he has figured out that advantage, he almost drags it to where he finds the temps just right. He's hard headed but if I trip, it is because there is a Brody dog on the floor and he has learned to lay still till I land on my butt if it goes that far and he can then move if necessary. If I step across him, he doesn't raise his head and finish tripping me. ... yeah I hear you on the other unmentionable, so demo ranch matt is not getting revenue for his million subs??? That is just not right. I finally get where I can tolerate his goofy nature and no notifications in a while and I never thought much till you mentioned it... gotta respect his energy, I think he is fairly well off in spite of that. I really can't wait till the next big thing that the public can enjoy revenue from. youtube is a dictator and that is not cool. I enjoy this channel and I think a lot of us guys have a dog... just a idea for you but dogs try but unless we listen we miss it. So that said, I try to keep my dog and best friend a good healthy meal and I am finding that the dog food I buy is all the floor sweepings. He is lethargic so when I see a commercial like Petjoy, I paid careful attention. I don't like seeing him like this at seven and close to eight. My other two lived forteen years and would of lived even longer but a woman poisoned them both and I got the male through but it harmed the kidneys to bad on my girl. A month later to my dismay I see that the female was his guide dog as he was blind and then you ask where was I. In a hospital fighting for my life as both of my kidney went down and it was poison, the very same that she used on them was used on me. I am also wheelchair bound and only one arm. Well that works so the other is just a placeholder for my shirt. Anyway as I said before and you can feel this out about medication for dogs, any dogs but large ones like the rottie I have who doesn't know he isn't a lap dog. He has saved me in different ways and the other two literally saved my life several times in different ways. I suppose if we were friends close then a long comment wouldn't be so bad but with the thousands of responses, how to keep track of us an why so thank you for addressing some great content of the whys and whats
dogs are the best! hes treated like a king, my sister is a vetenerain so hes always getting looked over any times shes around, take care of them they take care of you! stay safe my friend!
@@DieselCreek I've always said that the operative term of CCW is "concealed". You're doing pretty good at that and, as I said, I've looked. Usually all I can see is your phone.
As good as O-Light are, I for one, would like to know how the 'arrive at' their selling prices. Those cost prices are somewhat 'over the top' as far as I'm concerned. I have an EDC flashlight in my pocket too,..and it's been there now for some 2 months,..it runs on a standard alkaline AAA battery and gives me enough light to do what I have to do. Actually my light is still running on the battery it came with. Oh well to each his own. I carry a small pocket knife,.but you know I have not yet bought a Leatherman,..I should do that soon. Looks like a great pal you have there, can't beat a good ol' pup for an' ED' buddy!
i just ordered from olight through ur link i hope u get a commission on what i spent lol cuz i spent way more than i planned on , but that was my fault , they have some cool lights , thanks again for sharing
Appreciate all your posts, Matt. Will order a flashlight tomorrow most likely. Do you follow "jonathan w" on youtube? If not, you should. I find his stuff wonderful!
I like these flash lights, but this one being powered of single AA battery, cannot last too long. Why? Because AA cell has just 1.5V when it's new. White LED needs at least 3.2V to operate at reasonable brightness, so you have to step up the voltage. And that's the main issue - step-up convertors are super inefficient. We are talking 50-70% efficiency, compared to 90+% efficiency for step-down convertors. Also stepping-up the voltage means, that your battery will be drained by high current quite quickly. If typical 3W LED has 1A of current draw at 3.2V, your battery must give the convertor at least 3A at 1.5V. That means, even the best alkaline battery won't survive more than 1/2 - 3/4h at full power. That's not very impressive, to be honest. If you need to work often with a flash light, I take 1h at full brightness as a minimum and you can find couple reasonably priced flash lamps, which are rechargable and have only two modes (spot light and flood light). Yeah, they are usually made of plastic, but hey, they survive a lot!
thats interesting, way above my knowledge of electronics. but neat to know! typically im not using a pocket light for more than a few minutes at a time. if im in the shop ill use a real light but these have a place ( for me at least) thanks for watching!
@@DieselCreek I'm talking about this type www.aliexpress.com/item/4000117277019.html It's cheap, surprisingly durable and last >1h at decent brightness. After that, the brightness will gradually ramp down. I bought several pieces of these about two years ago and all work fine.
i hate the people who go totally commercial and have all the company endorsements. i unsubscibe right freaking now. theres already way too many ads on you tube and that really pisses me off. thank you for not getting into all the endorsement B.S.
they didnt pay me for this just sent me the light and im supposed to get a kick back from anything sold through my affaliate link... well see probably about $5 lol
