I have mature, dry skin with lots of expression lines, so I avoid anything that I have to set with powder. I almost always "cocktail" my foundations. For every day, I mix the SuperStay with the Infallible Fresh Wear, the Physicians' Formula, or the L'oreal Pro-Glow to get the perfect satin-but-long-wearing look I prefer, or "dilute" the SuperStay with a BB or CC cream if I'm going for lighter cover. (Edited to add--if you haven't tried the CYO Lifeproof foundation (made by Boots), you might want to see if you can get your hands on it. It's super inexpensive but offers great coverage and very long wear without looking like a mask. It's neither drying nor dewy. To me, it's a perfect medium. It would probably suit your combo skin.)
Same I wore it the other day by 2 hours it was moving around and creasing it looked horrible I set it but not alot it got cakey and I looked a mess usually I mix it with a pro matte by loreal and set it that day I didn't what a mess I rushed home to wash it off.
The 01 shade is my most perfect ever shade match, but man it does not wear well on oily skin 😓 Wish they could improve the formula cause I did like the coverage a lot
Same girl, I live in vietnam and it's extremely humid here. But the foundation lasts so long on face and It looks gorgeous. By far Loreal Infallible 24hr fresh wear is the best drugstore foundation for me, and it beats some of my highend foundation so 10 out of 10 for me 💓💓
I like this Infallable 24 Hour Fresh Wear Foundation too, however - I actually reach for the Fit (oily formula) more, because it is a better every day formula - and wears better on the skin. Both are really super and rival what I have used for years in the high end department stores.
I think it’s so interesting how make up really depends person to person, not only skin type. On paper, we have the same type of skin- combination, oily t-zone but I absolutely love the L’Oréal freshwear. I have really long days and the foundation doesn’t let me down! I wear it so often that i even forgot it had a slight scent (at least imo). Bravo for testing all these foundations! You rocked this series!
Someone's worst foundation is going to be someone else's favorite foundation because we all have different skin types. Nice that there's so much to choose from
I so agree about Milani! I ended up getting it because Tati was hyping it so much. I noticed how badly it settled in every line. Plus it feels so thick, sticky and heavy on the face.
I’m so glad you discovered the catrice foundation. I’ve tried so many foundations and finally found this one, thank goodness! I would love a best of drugstore bronzers. :)
Omg. I tried that wet n wild foundation and it's the worst. It clings to every lines and pores. I thought it will be the best because everybody's raving about it
Emily - you are a riot in this video. Finally, finally a kindred spirit on so many foundations touted as “holy grails”!!! Stink of paint, show up pores AND emphasis on smile ones, wrinkles - no thx! Can’t take the Milani, Wet n’Wild dewy (or original) Nyx. Loved how thorough and honest you were!
The L’Oréal foundation smells just like a floral deodorant, but once you blend it in, you can’t smell it anymore. It’s really good if you want to go swing because it’s water and sweat proof!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery after your surgery and THANK YOU for such an in-depth review series on these foundations. We've similar skin and it's definitely helped me narrow down what I want to try and what I'll give a pass
I recently bought the L’Oreal Infallible 24 hour Fresh Wear foundation and love it. I don’t find it to be very scented though and I always notice when products are scented.
I think human sense of smell (or how the brain interpret the smell) is a peculiar thing. For example the smell of durian fruit, some said it smells sweet, like bubblegum, creamy. But others swear it smells like gym sock, or terpentine, or rotten egg, pig shit, corpse/carcass, etc. It's fascinating how one same thing smells different to human.
Girl you did the work on this video!!! Great job!! I was so excited for the L’Oréal fresh wear after the hype but that aggravates my eczema so badly, I was peeling 😭 One of my favorite drugstore foundations for dry skin is the makeup revolution foundation stick.
that l'oréal freshwear 24 hour fondation was the worst on me, cakey, patchy, moving around, making little fondation dots everywhere... i don't get the hype, at all.
L’Oréal has a dewy version of the pro matte called the pro glow and it’s hands down my favorite foundation. It’s even better than my higher end foundations
I swear by the wet n wild photofocus foundation. Except for the scent I love everything about it. I even love the spatula. It stays on all day long for me and it doesn't oxidize weirdly. I just love it.
Actually the wet and wild foundation is good and I really love it.The smell is strong yes, I needed few weeks to get used to it, yet I feel it's just at the applying, my boyfriend never told me I smell weird :D I guess once it's dry the smell is gone.I love the coverage it has, in bad skin days I can really hide a lot of redness or other skin problems. The trick is preparing the skin with cream/base before using it (because it's mat foundation and it tends to get it try) also if u have already brought it- I like to put 2 thin layers instead of one normal.
Emily please please PLEASE do the same video for BB, CC creams! Now that we're coming to summer season, I'm looking for a good BB cream but struggle to find a good one. Thank you! :)
For bb creams i highly recommend korean brands, precious mineral from etude house and clio water me BB. Maybelline has a BB cream that is quite good too (the shiny pink or blue packaging) although for korean brands they don't really provide for darker shades :(
The Catrice HD is magical because it is a great mixer foundation that can be added to other formulas to increase the coverage; even though it will end up being diluted! Because it retains its properties when mixed, I can forgive the shade range and how shockingly dark the lightest shade is!
Catrice HD Coverage foundation was my favorite one as well until I discovered they overcome theirselfs and came up with HD Radiance foundation which is even better! Good work Emily, I have been watching your foundation testing and this is funny because I was also filming a foundation testing series in this time.
I have oily skin and I absolutely love the makeup revolution foundation at first it dries matte but throughout the day it gets dewy/glowy on my skin! Definitely lasts all day, and i get compliments on this foundation!
I love Loreal Freshwear when the color is right. When the seasons switched, my old shade looked terrible. Sitting on the surface, emphasizing texture. Moved up a shade, and I love it again! The shades are also hard to figure out in the bottle. It has a little alcohol and I actually love it more when I feel a little oily.
You're most dedicated youtuber on having lip swatches or uploading this kind of series. You need to get a collaboration product with Maybelline, Morphe or else. You deserve to step up your class, not just as a beauty youtuber/vlogger, but a beauty guru. Love from Indonesia 🇮🇩 🇨🇦
Omg what! Milani foundation is my favorite!! Lol! But still love you because you are the drugstore queen 💕 thank u for keeping drugstore makeup in the makeup community aliveeee.
I’m so glad that I found you. I like your personality and it’s a bonus that we are the exact same foundation shade. For me that’s awesome bc I watch videos to see how Foundation will look on me. Your the first that is my shade. Thank you.
I'm in my mid 50's with dry skin (no texture) & LOVE Milani's Conceal & Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation! The colors/shades are sort of strange. It "seems" like there are several fair/light shades, but it's confusing. I'm very fair with a slight yellow undertone. I wear their fairest shade, 00A Porcelain which has a pink undertone. I need to mix a small amount of a yellow undertone foundation to get the perfect shade. Anyhow, I like that it's full coverage with a pump & $9.99 is a steal!! Just purchased 2 bottles online...20% OFF!! :)
I used to HATE the Milani foundation and how it looks on my combo skin. However, I used this with a very hydrating primer and hydrating setting spray and illuminating spray. When I did this, it looked GOOD. I’ve applied it two very different ways and it looks so different.
Totally agreed on the worst choice. At least not for oily skin, definitely not. Thank u for doing long term review, because often a day wear test or first impression dont reflect the real deal.
My favorite foundation is the Milani one. I have dry skin and I feel like it ‚melts‘ into my skin and it‘s very long wearing. I do use a light hand powder with it tho. Just letting you all know 💜
Hi Emily! I loved this series so thank you for that! Now that you are using the Catrice more frequently, have you noticed if its made you more acne-prone at all?
I loooove my loreal matte foundation it's so good. I've been thinking about doing my make up for so long and about a week ago I finally went to the drug store and spent 40 bucks (foundation, setting powder, primer, etc) and I was so so so happy. ❤
Revlon Colorstay for Dry/Normal skin is my holy grail. I tried other foundations for about 6 months but went back to the Colorstay because 240 is my perfect shade and it didn't fall off my skin.
I’m with you on Milani being the worst. It wore horribly throughout the day for me and broke up on my skin. Did not understand the hype. Thanks for the review! Will definitely be trying out some of the foundations you mentioned that worked well for you!
FINALLY! I 100% AGREE!! I could not for the life of me get those foundations to work despite my best efforts either!! I have typical combo skin, oily t-zone, big pores, dry patches, texture etc and they all applied beautifully on my outer cheek area but went awal everywhere else. Superstay is my drugstore holy grail and never fails me 🙌
what a good series you really did an extensive doc series on foundation :) For the Wet n Wild one yeah it does smell funky, initally when you put it on your like wow but after it dries down it shows every bump and looks powdery af.
Ty! I am so happy that I am not the only one that finds some of the ones raved about just meh. What do you recommend for a full coverage won't budge foundation? I am more mature and need for a wedding. ELDW doesn't work for me just fyi
“Listen...Linda” 😂😂😂 I loved your rant about fragrances in foundation and foundations that smell like paint and strong chemicals. No foundation should have added fragrance. Hang in there with your recovery. I had three separate jaw surgeries. Some days were challenging physically and emotionally. What helped me was remembering that it was temporary. The experience will not last forever. Healing takes time, but it is temporary. My biggest advice is to listen to your body and your female intuition. If at any point you have concerns or questions, make sure they get addressed. Hang in there. 💜
Thank you! I'm honestly pretty miserable at the moment. Breathing is hard. Swallowing that disgusting powder is hard... just started my period early too. One day at a time 💜
I am so glad I'm not the only one who dislikes the Milani one. No matter how I wear it or prep and set my face (primer, powder etc), it looks AWFUL on me. I was so upset because everyone LOVES it!
This series was amazing, Em. Keep up the good work. You uploading a video every day was almost too good to be true. Always made my day. I hope you will recover from surgery fast. Lots of hugs from Germany.
@@beautywithemilie I totally understand that it isn't possible usually so I am even more thankful that you put in so much work to prefilm all of this and such a great series too! Take your time and give yourself a much deserved break to recover. 😊
Freaking finally!!!!! Someone else that doesn’t like the scent of the infallible!!! everyone else is like raving about that foundation and it sits on top of my skin and I swear something in L’Oréal foundations break me out.
Thank you for taking the time to do such a comprehensive research of these foundations! It’s such a hit and miss when looking for a new foundation. You ROCK!
I do not like foundation bottles with pumps. In fact they really annoy me. Because, I cannot open them to use the residual foundation. I cannot stretch the money I spent on it. I’m really not that stingy with money, but this is one of those scenarios that gets my goat.
This was fantastic! Thank you! My needs and wants are very different from yours (warm undertone, mature skin with deep wrinkles, some age spots) and yet listening to how each of these foundations behaved on different sections of your face helps me make better selections. I appreciate these round-ups, especially when they highlight affordable products!
I wish it was mine! I only have one foundation and I use it until is finished, but definitely I would like to have more and different ones for different occasions! :) I'm a lipstick enthusiastic jeje
Finally someone that doesn’t like the L’Oréal fresh wear. EVERYONE online raves about it but it’s the worst foundation I’ve ever used. Like you said; the fragrance is strong which I think is why it broke me out so bad. It emphasised every line and texture and made me look as dry as the Sahara desert. When I hear people rave about it I feel like we’re talking about a completely different product.
Does foundations just stop working for you after a while too ??? I don't get it, at the beginning I loved the new l'oreal and the Catrice - I was sure they will make me leave my estee Lauder DW, but after a couple of weeks I started to get super oily, the shade somehow stopped suiting me,,, idw I still can use only the DW,, would love to hear your thoughts and thanks for the review
This happens to me too with all brands!! Starting from max factor, loreal, estee lauder and D&G. That's really weird because it's the same bottle not a different batch!
I find this happening with my skin care routine too. A good week or so into my routine my skin is fairly clear, and then my skin builds an immunity or something and the acne, redness, dry patches comes back. i.dont.understand.it.
I like the wet n wild foundation because I think it really looks pretty from far away but I agree that it does emphasize texture more than other foundations and it depends on the day. I also agree that the L’Oréal fresh wear foundation which reminds me of a longer wearing version of the covergirl elixir- sits on top of the skin if your skin is dry and it doesn’t blend very well. The physicians formula healthy foundation is great for summer! I love the catrice hd foundation! It’s so good- especially if you want full coverage but have dry skin!
I LOVE your videos! Thank you!!! I'm a 100% all drugstore kinda girl lol this helps so much! One if the best drugstore foundation videos on RU-vid! 😍😍😍😍😍
My favorite combo is physicians formula healthy foundation and L'Oreal fresh wear. I had bought the fresh too light... Yes my super pale face managed to finally buy a too light drugstore foundation, and the healthy skin in the neutral light is too dark. Wow do I love the combo. It gives me flawless coverage, I don't have much to cover I do admit, but it's not heavy or Matt. It last all day. I have combo t zone and I only need to blot after about 6hrs of wear.
That Revlon is my ride or die foundation. I usually wear my foundation for long periods of time and by the end of the day since I have terribly oily skin it’s the only foundation so far that has kept it the same with some blotting 💕💕
OMG every time you've recommended a foundation on your channel I fell in love with it (Lancome teinte idol anyone?!!) thanks for being real with us! edit also I love the revlon colorstay... it looks AMAZING when i first apply it but never lasts that long. also it is way too red I can't find my shade. :( (I'm 380 in the Teinte Idol)
I have tried the WnW photo focus and I HATE the smell and I swear I am not fussy about smells at all, but it amazes me why the smell was never mentioned on reviews (or mentioned lightly) but to me it is a deal breaker (as well as the applicator). I own the Nyx one and it is super high coverage but it is very drying (and I never thought I'd say that since my skin is extremely oily) so I mix it with the Maybelline super stay matte (which is amazing and one of my faves) and it goes well. The infallible pro matte and the maybelline fit me are good but TBH I believe the maybelline super matte surpasses them. The Revolution Pro Full cover camouflage is also very high coverage and overall a nice option but do not apply a lot or results might not be as good The ones I want to try are the Revolution conceal and define, the Catrice one and the L'oreal infallible 24hr Fresh.
I've been watching a few of your videos and I love them! You have been helping me out because I have the same problem with my skin! I'm oily, but dry in the same areas! I also have sensitive, acne-prone, and super pale skin (practically making me a vampire). I watch many other videos, but they don't seem to have close enough skin to mine, and then it looks very different on me than it did with them (and not in a good way). Also, you are pretty cool, and I love your makeup! New subscriber, and I hope you continue to do series like these (they are helpful). Sorry for the long comment, and I hope everyone has a good day (if you see this)! 😊
@@stephaniejacobo7502 So, I use the Maybelline Dream Radiant foundation. I use the lightest shade, lol. Knowing how to prep your skin beforehand is just as important as your foundation. I have to do a major skin prep before I do my foundation because my skin is rude, lol. If you have any other questions, let me know, I want to try and help, if I can. I hope you find something for you! Stay safe, happy, and healthy! 😊
@@stephaniejacobo7502 So, I just have a simple skincare routine. Then I do a lot because my skin is rude, lol. First, I use Pacifica's Cherry Matte Mattifying Primer. Second, I use elf's Luminous Matte Makeup Primer. Third, I set that with elf's Halo Glow Setting Powder. Next, I spray Pacifica's Crystal Dew Setting Spray. Then I use elf's Jelly Pop Dew Primer. Last, I use NYX Dew Me Up. My skin is so messed up I have to do a lot before I do my makeup, lol.
It would've been cool to see pictures of the flaws for each at the end of day. UPDATE: Never mind, I see the link to the wear tests videos! Great job! Thank you for all your hard work and effort!!
We have the same taste in foundation even though my skin is much older and aging. Cannot live without teint idole and that Mabelline Super Stay is amazing under any light..i look flawless.
Thank you for this video!!! I do notice some green in your neck (are you a light olive?) and your face is a slight neutral color. I have an issue getting my face match my neck (green comes through)... what color do you tend to lean towards (warm, cools, yellows, neutrals?). Whatever foundation you are wearing in the later part of the video looks like a good match.
Loved this series. You seem to have the same skin concerns as me and you have the same shades as me in the couple of these I already have. Now the only channel I need to come to for my foundation needs!
It was fun and interesting to see how someone else feels about the foundations. We have the same skin type and the Milani is my holy grail, even above high end. I used to never buy products after seeing them get bad reviews from YTers with similar skin type, but I've since learned I was missing out on amazing makeup! Even though we have the same skin type, I have the opposite experiences with all those foundations.
Awww, I also have a combo skin but milani works good for me! I love it's full coverage! I do get more oily with it though, but I combat that with the elf oil control lotion and the rimmel powder.
