I feel like Kana’s story is good enough as a standalone too because it pretty much embodies the themes and messages of the show. Even outside of the Revenge Plot

Only Kana's story(aside from the late Ai Hoshino) captures the Dark Entertainment industry part. And Aqua himself narrated at the start that this series is about the unforgiving Entertainment Industry
Akane is fine but she doesn't really grab my attention if she's not the main focus in a scene. Kana, however, no matter what she does, she always grabbed my attention. She could just be a background character in a scene but my attention immediately went to her. She's just so unapologetically herself and funny enough, just like Ai, she has no replacement. Kana is Kana and no one can be her. Akane's first moment to shine is by imitating Ai but Kana's moment? She's being herself and oh boy, are her galaxy eyes gorgeous to watch. Sorry Akane, you're a cool character in your own rights but I genuinely likes Kana even more in term of personality, story and moments.
I like Kana, but I disagree that Akane is replaceable. She is one of the smartest and most talented character in the show. Akane shines not because she imitated Ai, but because of her analysis on AI’s personality just based on AI’s past work. She knows Ai even more than Ai’s children despite never met Ai. She also the one who figured out who is Aqua’s father and speed up the plot. Akane is very important for the plot and Aqua’s revenge. I doubt any other characters can do the same thing.

To be honest, *she screams My Idol.* When she walked in that man's house and managed to stop herself from sleeping with him, it shocked me terribly (well, the whole chapter did. I didn't think we'd go into THIS side of the industry too where people sleep their way to the top.) I don't know about you, but I don't live in America yet know tons of people would have snatched that opportunity in a heartbeat. In fact, the moment she stopped herself was when I realised she became my Oshi no Ko. The girl was not doing well after her childhood days and failed left and right barely holding ground in all areas of her life. But she persevered. This was the height of her perseverance as an aspiring top actress in that ruthless industry and as a person with strong principles. I really thought at that moment, she not only became my Oshi no ko, but Aqua's Oshi no ko as well despite Aqua not knowing the full story of what happened in that house. That chapter of her rejecting to sleep with the producer was a turning point on her mindset and the honest life she was gonna lead. That's *rare.* It's rare, and I appreciate the nuance even in fiction. Which made the following actions from Aqua after that chapter much more understandable (seriously, I still CAN'T BELIEVE he did that for Kana. He really likes her.) Anyways, she truly became an icon, what I like about Kana is that she became Your Idol without resorting to resembling Hoshino Ai in any form. That's why I think she's the best fit for Aqua literature-wise. I also believe the author did this on purpose by giving her Galaxy eyes instead of Star eyes to emphasize the point that you don't need to lie like Ai did. Amazing writing and amazing video. Keep it up!
She's totally oblivious about the revenge plot, but her character is an antithesis to Hikaru's. Her mental resilience is quite admirable if i say so myself.
I'm not saying that Kana is the only flawed character but- she's realistic cause her flaws affected her for a long time- not gonna lie Akane's depression and Aqua saving her (she found new hope thingy) its just...it doesn't make any sense. Maybe for me, but the hint of depression on Akane that time doesn't last (or maybe lack of screen time) but i didn't build enough pity or connection with her cause...its too fast. Unlike Arima, her traumas lessen but it stayed...slowly she's conquering it. like a real person
I'm very interested in characters that don't imitate Hoshino Ai, and Kana Arima is one of them. Given the heavy emphasis on Ai and her lies throughout the entire story, everyone is infatuated with her in some way or form. More than three Oshi no ko characters revolve their entire world around her long after Hoshino Ai passed away. That's why Kana just becomes weird. A unique but necessary outlier to contrast lies and deception. Still convinced with my headcanon that Kana Arima's eyes would have turned into stars had she sold her body for acting gigs.

I agree with everything you've said about Kana's writing. I believe she's the most well-written character in the show, having countless instances where what makes her feel truly "human" is presented to us, the audience, time and time again. I can never stop rooting for this girl. Akane is much too of a "perfect girl", your ride or die waifu that would do anything for you, to the point it's actually deranged and insane. Her behavior isn't normal, which many fans of hers choose to ignore. I think that actually adds more depth to her character, how far she is willing to go for Aqua. Akane is certainly not the most "well-written", as she's more of a plot device than anything. Anyhow, Kana will always be best girl in my heart. She's sharp-tongued, yet caring, she gets herself into terrible situations eg. Scandal arc, but it all makes sense for her character. Kana is the best girl for Aqua romantically, the most realistic and relatable character which believable struggles. Truly our Oshi no Ko,
I'm sure that fans like myself don't ignore that Akane isn't normal and she almost admits in the manga that she's not your ordinary girl and it's completely fine, especially when we compare these two girls, it's clear that they are polar opposites of each other. Kana is a more realistic tsundere character, Akane is a more like larger than life yandere and I prefer her from the two girls, which is interesting because I hate the entire concept of the yandere but she's a breath of a fresh to me in her own category.

I fully agree about Akane! All of the girls have their moments of their characters suffering when Aqua walks into the room but I think she's the biggest victim of it. Like you said, plot device. The thing is, her character motivation (she's unendingly loyal to Aqua because he literally saved her life when she was at her lowest point) makes sense and is a good place to start but I feel that they never really develop her character beyond that. I've always thought that if we saw her past to the extent that we saw Kana's and knew that she had a history of suicidal ideation/mental illness before LoveforReal both her loyalty to him and her devaluing her own life (she's willing to go toe to toe with a serial killer in his stead!) would make more sense. Or if she had also lost a parent and over-empathized with Aqua to the point of preventing him from killing his father for that reason. But instead we're just given...she's screwed in the head for the guy she likes. But not so screwed that she isn't conveniently, preternaturally intelligent and intuitive. That said, while I do think Kana is a great character and I agree that she's realistic and relatable she...also suffers from Aqua Enters Room syndrome at times. I'm not against a romance subplot, but because Akasaka keeps dragging out a love square to tease the readers it makes her look like someone who can't move on from a high school crush after 3 years (and a high school crush who pushes her into being an idol when she doesn't really want to, keeps his distance from her without giving a reason, etc. at that). Of course that's not really her character's fault so much as Akasaka's (or his editor telling him to drag it out to increase readership) but it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

And not only that, she confirmed it herself that the love she's probably feeling for aqua isn't THE love but more on the feeling of "this is a debt I need to repay. " Also, Akane only started to stop aqua from killing the person he hates when he went too far deep into his revenge and when he rejected Akane on helping him on his revenge, aquakane is literally so toxic idk why people ship them, akane isn't helping when she tried to kill aquas father by herself without consulting with aqua and basically just laid her nose on where it shouldn't be.

Akane, despite her many good points, is almost always in the shadow watching over Aqua. Even Akane says that cheerful girls like Kana is always the center of attention, while introverted girls like Akane are lonely. If Akane didn’t work extra hard to improve her acting skills, she wouldn’t be able to compete with a child prodigy like Kana. The current Akane is the result of her always being a hard worker. Even when she analyzed AI’s character, Akane also did a huge amount of research on Ai. She never plays around and is also serious about everything.

Same for me, I relate to a lot of aspects of her personality so I hated her phase where she was always hating on Aqua's relationship with Akane because she was being exactly the type of person I didn't want to become in her situation.
I do think Kana is the best character, but it's just not true that Akane is some perfect good girl character. For a good chunk of the manga, Akane "supports" Aqua to the point of encouraging his unhealthy mental states. This is because Akane is also mentally unstable. Only on the very surface level could Akane be considered a perfect nice girl. It's only recently in the manga that Akane has been doing a bit better. As for Kana, she's the only one who's been out of the loop for everything. She's the "normal" one of the bunch and despite her bad moments, the most stable of them. She's very well-written, but a huge reason why she works so well is because she's the relief and grounded character. Her motivations and feelings are much easier to understand. Kana is the break from the main story and mental states of the other characters. As stated in the video, she's relatable. She has grounded problems and emotions in comparison to the rest of the cast. It's a very crucial role because psychological works can get really rough to read or watch.
I agree with everything you've said. But Akane encouraging unhealthy traits of Aqua is what makes her "perfect" in the eyes of the audience. She's able to take Aqua's side no matter what and often babies him. She has that perfect "waifu" trait that others like in a girl, similar to Rem. Only those who can't understand Akane's true character will perceive her this way when there is a lot more to the character than that.

Kana's character and story make me hook up on oshi no ko, not so much about the revenge story of Aqua. I would kill to have Kana's solo anime centering around her and her hardships. And like you said, kana might not be the best girl for most of us (for me at least she is the best girl) but her struggle and complex writing make her one of the most well-written if not the best written character in OshiNoKo.
This is just my opinion but a part of wonders if Kana is how Ai could have acted if she didn't "lie" if that makes any sense. For example, Ai is always smiling and her usual bright self in front of everyone but doesn't quite show her true self. However, a part of me feels that same sense of loneliness from both Ai and Kana which makes me love them both! Then again, i'm not sure how Ai would have acted if she didn't "lie" in front of others or in front of the camera. I do like the similarities they both somewhat share: - Both joined the industry from a young age - Both fell in love - Both radiate loneliness or used to be a loner (meaning that both girls really didn't make any friends outside of their respective careers) - Both have their silly moments that makes us as the audience laugh either due to their cheerfulness, bluntness, or clumsiness Overall i just love kana and akane has her strong points too!!

Another reason, why she probably will be Aquas final love interest (not that there ever was any doubt tbh, since Aqua had no such feelings for Akane even once - pls fight me on that) is that she is Ai‘s opposite. Like you said, she is very honest - in real live and on stage - Ai isn‘t, which is by far the most important trait, even though I could list some more. Their eyes for example. Kana has Universe eyes, while Ai has the significant star eyes, whose are like a proof of quality as well as a façade. Kanas eyes are deep, like you can see though her heart. This is portrayed very well, because Aqua was always struggling on how he sees Ai (fan, mother or love) and having Kana as the final love interest sets his feeling in a clear way. There was an Oshi no Ko event at a sushi place we frequented and I luckily got Kana (out of all the stickers you can get)! Since she’s one of the top characters, she was holographic ✨
I'm most cases love tringals are my least favorite tropes in fiction and especially the jealousy it breeds is super annoying but it works for kana and I'd say because it comes from more places then just not getting the romantic affection from the guy she likes for example durring volume 4/the final arc of season 1 kana isn't just pissed at aqua because he is dating someone eless wail its part of it she also felt betrayed as a friend because he told her she was the only one he could speak honestly to and tells her he isn't going for anyone on the dating show but the next episode she sees aqua kissing and stating a relationship with a girl on the show. Wail Kana is aregent and kinda bitchy at times seeing her work hard,struggle,and fail makes her super likeable.

I think it's huge oversimplification of akane to say she's perfect. I was bored so i actually re read some of my favourite parts of the manga, and a lot of them include akane because i actually can relate to her a lot. Akane similiarly to kana struggles to get affirmation from other people but different to kana she doesn't want to be acknowledged as much as she wants to be useful to people she cares about. She's talented actress with her biggest strength being her analytical abilities, which she uses to understand and fit herself into needed role. Her issues is that she's obsessive, and doesn't care about herself, centering herself around other people entirely. First thing we see after she figured out aqua's past is her trying to fill in motherly by cooking for and even trying to feed him , after that her behaviour with him also slightly different than before she says thing like "You wouldn't wanna me die of sorrow right? I'll definitely will if we're not gonna win against kana and taiki" Which is her way to push him into working out his trauma through acting. Personally i find the way she speaks and talks to him resemble her portrail of ai just more subtle. She even attempts to meet his father and simingly kill that man with a knife. Akane is perfect because she puts herself in the roles other people expect of her without care for herself and loses herself to this desire to follow expectations. When they broke up she also said that she doesn't necessarily feels romantic attraction to aqua but that she wants to help him. This girl was willing to kill a man and ruin her entire life for somebody who she doesn't love but feels responsible for in a sense and tries to fill in for as the girlfriend/motherly figure
akane also flawed but in a very different yet similar to kans way. She cares way to much about other people but if in the case of kana it's her ego and sense of self being hurt by failures of the past for akane it's lack of ego and sense of self being significantly altered by idea "i can be whatever anybody wants me to be"
I agree that Akane is flawed and I never said she’s ‘Perfect’. I said she is ‘Almost Perfect according to my personal standards’. That’s a huge difference. I said she’s best girl because she has all the best girl qualities. It looks over simplified because it is actually simple and it shouldn’t be too complex to understand if you just pay extra attention to my wordings. I just thought that Kana was more consistent and her actions have more than enough justifications, making her seem like a highly realistic human character. That’s the point of the video. I think both characters are great but for me, I just prefer the way they wrote Kana’s character

The only thing that buggs me is her struggle never gets proper pay off. Her win is served on a silver platter, not because she wanted to, simply because Aka Akasaka thought it is finally convenient for her to take some form of spotlight, not for long mind you... 2-3 chapters max.
kana is perfect and she can shine by her sefl, she doesn't need any main since her personality and story already good, this is my personal opinion but I think kana is one of the best writen character on this anime so far and I think alot of person overlook her, she by far my favorite character on this anime, also the one who keep me interest to watch this anime, I don't know... but she feel like Ai without truama(or should we say fakeness?)
It seems in the anime community "best girl" means someone who is most easily available and accessible to the MC with questionable amount of self-respect who no matter how many red flags, will still stick to the MC . well in that case Akane is the best girl no argument about that!!
It saddens me to see Kana getting hate this season for no reason. I get that Akane is the perfect girlfriend and is more nicely spoken than Kana. But Kana is a very empathetic character who can relate to all. I also love Akane, but it sucks seeing her fans hate my other favorite character.
When there was only manga there, I couldn't understand and I still can't understand, why's everyone so head over heels for Akane, while hating Kana? Kana is cute, entertaining, smart, her being foul-mouthed isn't a problem because it's obvious that she doesnt mean everything bad she says. At the same time Akane, while maybe smart, is a manipulator, liar (she even lied to Aqua, as I remember, even multiple times) and generally very toxic person. Just imagine oshi no ko, if Kana wasn't so strong. Where would she be? She would be buried in a casket after continuous "righteous" bullying from Akane. I like how right after being saved from suicide by Aqua, Akane starts bullying Kana as if she wants her to khs, and NOBODY empathises with Kana. Even Aqua mostly sides with Akane in the theatre arc. WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE THIS THING SO MUCH? P.S. Okay, you can say she wishes the best for Kana. It is true. But what if somebody lit your house on fire with the best intentions? This doesn't excuse her!
I love Kana. Kana is such an intreasting character and I want the best for her. She's so bright to me and she is one of the main reasons I will want to come back to Oshi no ko. Her story arc is so amazing. AND THAT IS WHY SHE DESERVES BETTER THAN AQUA! My girl is so much better than him she had this amazaing arc but I can't believe she settles for him. Honestly, Your video makes me wonder.. What actually is Best... A totally fictional character like Akane or someone who is imperfect but still shines ✨and relatable as of one of us. Ok, to be honest even if Akane has a great personality..I like Kana more besides from the fact I want to root for her, whenever I see her happy performance, as described in the show..it looks fun! I don't particularly like Akane well it's not because she doesn't really have a traumatic backstory because c'mon we can't say getting harsh words from Kana as children was really traumatic. That plus Arima had to go through so much at such a young age. I'm not trying to hate on Akane, she's a hard worker and always does her best in everything she does. As the video said, she's the ideal because she seems like a perfect human being, someone who can adapt quickly, someone who is...happy. But, Arima is relatable because despite everything she has experienced like Akane, she tries her best and feels happy because despite of everything she can find happiness and she can be strong. That's why I love Kana so much..

Is it just me but I always felt like Oshi no Ko's an AOT type of narrative. Like it's Kana's story told through Aqua. Like how AOT is basically Mikasa's story told by Armin in Eren's POV. Like Kana/Ai's story told through the narrator/real MC.
I feel like Akane has done more for the plot and is always unpredictable while if we look at Kana at any point in time of the story her whole personality is being rude but 'secretly' liking Aqua even Akane now is trying to push this stagnant plot line by helping her get with Aqua
Kana’s story arcs exist outside of the revenge plot. Oshi No Ko’s main theme is about the jpn entertainment industry and what it does to people, especially to young adults, and I think that her story arcs explored that section well enough. As for the revenge plot, it’s true that Akane has done more. But if we’re gonna look into it, Kana has advanced this part of the story as well, although somewhat indirectly. She gave Aqua a way back into the Industry and her mistakes gave him the opportunity and push to reveal his true identity as Ai’s child, and that all led to the Final Arc of the manga. Akane has done a lot for the revenge plot but I hope they would give her a bigger part at the ending instead of just making her the matchmaker. I believe there is still a lot to explore about her character
Just like that one analysis video of Akane and kana said, they're opposites. Yes Akane has done a lot more for the plot but that doesn't automatically mean that kana hasn't done anything to help in a way too. With akanes help, aqua fell deeper into his revenge. And for kana, there is no reason on why she should interfere with the revenge in the first place and is the 'light' that takes aqua away, I forgot which one posted the tweet; mengo or akasaka, in that tweet it said something along the lines of Akane is the girl who takes me and kana is the one who brings me back. I forgot the exact wording for it but it's something like that. Akane helps the revenge plot and kana helps the character development.
Kana has no direct involvement in (or even knowledge of) the revenge plot for most of the story, and that's why she works in my eyes. She's a relatively normal girl with relatively normal (albeit amplified) struggles in an industry full of psychos and maniacs. This also applies to Mem Cho, and some other less relevant characters like Melt. These characters serve a very different role by sort of being breaks from the main plot, and without them, I genuinely believe OnK would be nothing but constant drama and become hard to read. Aka interleaves less important character arcs together with the main arc (like Melt's self doubt and Kana vs Akane during Aqua's struggle with PTSD in Tokyo blade) really well, making the overall story that much better. Case in point, a lot of people consider Tokyo blade to be among the best arcs, and it's just half a dozen character arcs all at once.

She brought me into oshi no ko both anime and manga. I accidentally click on oshi no ko manga before it was even animated , and the first thing i saw is arima kana galaxy eyes. I was clueless about this manga so i dropped but after i heard oshi no ko getting animated , i curiously started to read the whole thing. She catch my eyes with her unique personality and eyes. Tbh i still hope on to oshinoko manga because of her. Im literally addicted to her...for me she's the best art of akasaka so far❤. Chapter 151 spoilers 💥 Both aqua and ruby forgive hikaru and we can see miyamo hugging the twins , aqua crying in miyamo's shoulder then he meets akane ( akanebro she comeback with her short hair again 😭🤌🏻💓)and akane told him nino also involved in ai's murder then we can see nino looking creepily staring at her and ai's poster. ✨" MORE KANA MORE HAPPINESS" this is my mantra and im religious to it 😂. I disagree, aquakane is toxic. Akane isn't helping aqua in his trauma especially with her using Ai in most scenes shown of her and she even made it worse by trying to butt into his business to kill his father and tried to be the one that did it for him. Akane is too obsessive and aqua Is too far deep in his revenge. They're toxic, they'll ruin each other in a relationship which where both of them agree that they didn't have any romantic feelings for.
Akane isn’t the best girl for Aqua, because that would make all the foreshadowing between Kana and Aqua meaningless. There have been tons of hints about Kana and Aqua throughout the manga, and it's pretty obvious if you pay attention. But people get so caught up in the love triangle, debating who’s the best girl and who will end up with Aqua, that they forget about the actual story. The manga has a lot of hints, foreshadowing, and canon evidence that people are just overlooking. If Aqua and Akane were to actually end up together, their relationship would be soon toxic. Both of them are mentally unstable, which you can see from Akane’s willingness to help Aqua with his revenge. Although, at earlier their relationship seem to be quite healthy or okay. But still, its obvious it's not over all healthy. To me, Akane and Aqua are like twin halves-they resemble each other a lot. But that’s not always a good thing, especially when both of them are struggling mentally.

When they arent bickering over Aqua, i really love and appreciate how oshi no ko handles its girl characters with so much humanness thats hard to find in most shows. I do find it funny how when a girl character is just more realistic than an object with a girls face on it, she warrants a disclaimer just in case a viewer might think u could be defending the actions of a child in a situation😭🤣

I call her detective Akane because she puts in the work and even knew about Aqua's father and his f'd up backstory before he even knew. With Kana she she is the tsundere who guards her feelings because when she acted like a brat and selfish, the entertainment industry and her own parents turned her back on her. So she never really would act on her feelings until the last few chapters. I mean she started to act on her own when it came to her career, but when it came to love, she is now becoming more bold. Still it's essentially Aqua's sister Ruby vs the red headed tsudndere.
All the characters are fine for me, but Ai and Akane are my favorites. In the absence of Ai, I grow more fond of Akane, and I don't get why many people hate her just because they like another character more. It is just so sad.
She would never do wrong thing. She want kill Aquas dad. And when she was together with Aqua she thinks when he ever betray her with Kana she kill him. She has 40 percent yandere wibes

Hmm... I suppose Kana is one of the best written characters in Oshi no ko, but personally I feel she, along with the others, fell short because Aka didn't execute the story all that well. I won't go too much into that since it would be off tangent. 😅
* manga spoilers * . . . Kana is a great character and has a lot of growth - from being a child actress and desperately accepting roles like on Sweet Today, to letting Akane turn the spotlight back on her and reigniting her ambition. Enough so that we get the Scandal arc which I honestly think is one of the better arcs in the manga because it really shows that Kana is not a child anymore and knows how to handle herself as a young adult, to go after what she wants but refuses to be taken advantage of anymore. Not to mention her being from kind of an abrasive loner to making friends with B Komachi and even kinda sorta Akane. BUT. While her sharp tongue shtick isn't bad all the time and I get its kind of her personality...after THREE YEARS it still gets used at times that feel really inappropriate. Like, in chapter 140-something Aqua - one of her close friends - tells her that his role in the 15 Year Lie makes him feel like dying. Kana responds with (paraphrasing) "I wouldn't miss you if you died. In fact, I'd curse at your corpse like I always do. If you don't like it, don't talk about dying ever again!" and while yeah its a joke between friends who know each other well and Aqua knows what she's trying to say. It still really rubbed me the wrong way. Kana is a young adult now. I think it really would've shown a lot of growth for both her character, and the depth of her relationship with Aqua if she felt familiar/close enough with him to respond earnestly (something she wouldn't have been able to do three years ago).
The intent of the chapter was to show how Kana truly hated the fact that Aqua was thinking about death, and feeling useless. Kana wanted him to know that she would hate him if he talked bad about himself and brought himself down. Her tone was a cheerful way of bringing up the light in the chapter that was completely destroyed in the previous one . Aqua also looked like he needed a break from reality and serious talk, so Kana brought it to him with a small, meaningful joke. Aqua admits that seeing her talk to him like that makes him happy, and brings him joy- said in the same chapter! He says she is troubling for him because he wants to resort to revenge, but Kana brings him joy in a cheer-y kind of way. That is the whole bond of their relationship.
I feel that while Kana might be better written, Akane is executed better. Akane follows "Show dont tell" which I feel might have also be the reason why it is harder to relate to her. She had alaways been the shadow of child prodigy Kana and while she was the super top of her theatre company, she had struggles to keep up as the face that represented it and waspressured a lot, hence her dramatic action and her downfall in the reality show. It was mostly to showcase how hate affects people in real life, not so much Akane as character, bjt I think it is interesting that if you ever find an Akane hater, they might bring up the "She didn't even have a reason to commit su1cide, unlike Kana she had a supportive mother etc." This, I found interesting, because those where the same type of people portrayed in the show (proof that they didn't learn anything for it). She suffered a lot alone because, first things first, they are children. Recently, a lot of 16-20 yo like criticizing people like around these same ages believing they would do any better (they wouldn't). She was a child (as stated by Aqua, even), she was not supposed to know what to do, she was not supposed to make the right decision, she was not supposed to know how to handle things, but people pressured this much and she was convinced that she had to suck it up and bear with it own her own out of maturity/proffesionalism. Akane is more unrelatable because (aside from being a Yandere, which comes after this) her struggle is the struggle of the strong. The ones who "seem" perfect and have to maintain a disguise are forever alone no matter how many people there are to tell them they love her (sort of like Ai). Really imagine being the hardworker type and see people not only not believing it, but denying everything you had done in the past. Kana might be considered an old glory, but ppl didn't negate her old glory. Akane got all her prior work looked down on for one mistake, people thought she hadn't earned her way to the top. She was always overshadowed no matter how good she was and now she wasn't even good? The kid almost ruined her career for being a kid, and almost ended her life because people couldn't see that she was just a person. And that happens a lot. Or how many have take their own only for family/friends to be like "I didn't know there was something wrong". Is it because they were not willing to help? Sometimes. But for the most part, it's simply because they cant see. Kana might be more relatable, because her struggle is that of the common folk. Us, who were destined for greatness back then in our own little bubble until we grow up and face that there are those who are simply better or have more luck. But all I've said about Akane was shown. All people say about Kana she had to frickin narrate it herself with a full uninterrumpted flashback, her narrating her explicit thoughts and what happened to her. Told, not shown. I feel like Akane's relatability is underrated solely because no one narrated her thoughts, it was just shown.

Sorry but I disagree, Akane can get the best girl trophy but not the best character. There's not much depth in her character at all compared to the other three mains.
FRR, I've seen a lot of people say that Akane isn't a relatable character, but I don't think so, I literally identified with her in several ways, and I also think her character is better executed.

I guess its your opinion but honestly i disagree,I started liking akane more than kana because of her backstory and all that she went through when all the internet was sending her hate and about the "kana is the bright ahh girl" you could say the same thing about akane.Akane is "your submissive girl who is smart asf and will do anything for you" the typical trope in most of anime because people tend to like submissive characters because they basically never complain.Now back to the akane's backstory thingy,I think its very unrealistic how akane's character went from the girl who wants to be loved by someone,who has insecurities and just wants someone to look at her(kind of similar to kanas situation,also harming yuki because of it which its not her fault but just an example) and she went from that to "your perfect submissive girlfriend who conventionally is smart af and basically just solves the entire plot"now,I wouldnt complain if we atleast had more time to look at her character development but she just jumps from one point to another. She has no purpose other than being cute and helping aqua solve the whole mystery,we dont even know what happened when she was a kid or what happened to her manager (which in one scene was being yelled at and that's how all of her scandal began) we just know that she is smart and wants to help aqua so they just shove her on the screen everytime but not because she is entertaining its because what she does helps the plot to make it entertaining so yeah for me akane is just like any other typical waifu + smart who is just a massive plot device to help aqua.(You could say the same thing about kana but the difference is that,we know kana's personality.We know kana's backstory we know why she is like that and she isnt just there to be with aqua like akane is shes also part of the whole b komanchi group and has a life outside of aqua but the fact that akane magically became a yandere for a moment for no completely reason,if we even had a backstory for her we would atleast know why she was like that but it just happens randomly theres no trauma that causes her to be "yandere" or anything to cover up her character which is basically just like i said her whole character is just helping the plot and being a nice person.(i think i wrote too much but yeah if you like akane thats fine i just didnt agree with your statements

the first section about akane is so dumb and wrong its laughable, if you have seen the amount of hate she gets you wouldnt call her a perfect person... she is extremely realistic, i find her very relatable, and if you think having her level of empathy is unrealistic then idk i wouldnt want to be your friend...

Every character in ONK are just another generic character troupe. Like Akane herself is literally another wishful fulfillment character based on how jarring her change from being cancelled to another girlboss meme in one single arc. Even her relationship with Aqua is written based on what men want when women treat them which to appeal more on male chauvinist in Japanese society & this kind of romance is often found in story that being told from the ml pov. Am I the only one who read the whole Oshi no ko manga but never gave a damn about kana throughout the whole series, like srry but it just never felt like she was there. (I’m not an akane stan she’s even more boring). Ruby was the only remotely interesting female character in this whole azz story (along with her past life and Ai). Im not dissing the manga I rlly loved it this is just thoughts.
Dw, I kinda agree. The pacing of the story kinda seems all over the place, like at times it feels so fast and then there is just that one boring long ass arc. Not to mention the latest chapter, it doesn't feel rewarding, shocking, or anything at all. It feels kinda rushed. They had so many variables in the story but couldn't fully expand on it, like Ai, even though she was like a driving force in the story, she felt kinda flat as a character and also ruby and aqua... Ruby was so stuck as a child even though she gained more experience in her new life and aqua was kinda irritating with all his revenge plot, he reminds me of a less exagerated ayanokouji
I wanna ask why you think Ruby is more well written than them both. Cuz from what I've seen, Ruby is a wasted character because it feels like she had so little screen time like her story and development compared to aqua when both of them are main characters, and also even if she was a child in her past life, I was expecting a kind of maturity from her when she became Ruby but she kinda stayed a child. And her dark ruby arc felt kinda rushed too.

Akane isn’t ideal or perfect though. If you read manga, it’s obvious that Kana represents the light and the normal life that Aqua is striving for. Akane, despite her many good points, is almost always in the shadow watching over Aqua. Even Akane says that cheerful girls like Kana is always the center of attention, while introverted girls like Akane are lonely. If Akane didn’t work extra hard to improve her acting skills, she wouldn’t be able to compete with a child prodigy like Kana. The current Akane is the result of her always being a hard worker. Even when she analyzed AI’s character, Akane also did a huge amount of research on Ai. She never plays around and is also serious about everything.
Kana feels like the MC because she’s living her own life, has her own motivations, has and tries to solves her own problems, and Aqua is just an aspect of her life. Akane’s motivations are mostly just supporting Aqua. She’s a parallel and a foil for almost every other main character in the manga/story.
But that’s not really a character flaw, being “introverted” is not a character flaw, the only character flaws akane has imo is her tendency to “overdo” things, she puts too much effort into her projects that it becomes unhealthy for her and also sometimes people around her like that one time she tried to kill ai’s killer ALONE, or when she tried so hard to rise to popularity in the dating show that it ended up making her depressed. Other than that she’s practically idealistic, smart, kind, considerate her personality itself is idealistic her goals aren’t tho.
