Mr.hilton, recently I was ready to buy a Jaguar xf 2011 petrol , so I found that car has a engine restricted , owner said .He ll fix it by Jaguar company will sell to me..So I want your advice about it ? Is it okay to I buy it after repaired or what ? Please help. The reason I want to buy that car.. Except engine problem , car condition as really good , everything exterior and interior , so what should I do? Any advice would help me to think about the car
@@c57k.c.k.kumara9 I would not buy it. The reason the seller is selling is probably due to struggling with that issue for a while now. Restricted performance could be a long list of issues and not just isolated to one problem. Most XF's are good inside and out condition wise, but you need one that is in good mechanical condition as well. This one isn't. You could be in for a long time of trying to chase a problem the previous seller couldn't fix. If he could, it would be fixed wouldn't it? Rather look for another one. It isn't worth the financial pain. Sorry, not what you want to hear, but with patience, you will find the XF of your dreams.
@@carfanfan thank you so much .. Appreciate your advice , so I ll forget about it..Just wait for another one, to be honest. I always have been dreaming about Jaguar , which I can effort is xf , but with your advice , I decided to wait for sometimes and go for another one , and thanks for the advice , really appreciate it 🙏🙏 , any do u know jaguars r really expensive in my country , Sri Lanka , that Jaguar xf 2011 petrol , mileage 52650km , cost 31 000 USD 😭😭😭😭
Hi there, I have a question about.. i have a jag xf 2012 i bought it this about a year ago. Car is fine but problem is with their back sensors. Whenever i put on reverse gear. My car sound beep and screen restart it self but engine stay on like normal. My local mechanic suggest me i should replace my car sensors or wiring loop. But sensor still working. But he is not sure 100% .. any suggestion would be really appreciated thanks
I've got a 2013 XF and i turn on the 'approach lights' with one press of the fob, if i press it twice, the reversing lights come on.... After all, you don't always approach your car head on 😀
Two stage unlocking and double locking are different things. Two stage means that one unlock press will only unlock the driver door, two presses will unlock all of the doors. If the car has comfort access (also called keyless entry), two stage unlocking will only unlock the driver door when you open that door and the rest will remain locked, and if you open any other door when the car is locked it will unlock all the doors. Double locking means that both the exterior and interior door handles do not operate. Single locking (one press of the remote lock button or external door lock button) leaves the interior door handles operational, so passengers may still exit the vehicle if required.
Hi Hilton. Just got a 2010 premium here in the US and I can’t have my mirror folded. Any idea why? I followed your demonstration and still no result. Please let me know. Thx
Thanks Hilton for the great video, regarding the convenience option, my car doesn't move the seat and sometimes it will move the wheel when I unlock it and open the door, have you experienced this, any idea on how I can get it working right again?
My 27 year X330 Sovereign has the lights on from the remote and the double locking /dead locking and steering wheel and seat easy entry . And my 24 year old Rover Sterling had full closure and open from the fob , for some reason the X330 only has full closure using the key in the door not off the fob .
Great video , l have another question . My husband has a 2009 fx and we are always getting a warning light stating the key fob has a low battery. He has changed the battery twice and we know the battery's are good. Have any good ideas on what the problem could be? The dealership said the Spenser in the dash computer would cost 1800. Dollars to fix if that's the problem. The problem will show up for a week then will be fine for 3-4 days then reappear again.
Hey Sherry, I seriously doubt its the computer. These will typically last a lifetime until the car. I'd suggest focusing attention on the fob itself. Check the batteries with a tester firstly to check they are indeed 3.27v (I bought several brand new batteries from the same outlet once and all of them were bad and I also thought my car was faulty) - bought keyfob batteries at another outlet and voila - my keyfob worked properly again. Make sure to get Energizer Lithium Ion CR2032 batteries - these are the best. If you know 100% for sure it's not the batteries, then test the keyfob from 20 meters away from the car - if it doesn't lock/unlock from that distance - your fob is faulty and you may need to replace the fob.
Hate to say this but i think the local heat is getting to you Hilton , i counted 8 sensors when you were pointing them out !! lol great stuff as usual .
Keith Hall LoL, it must be the heat Keith. It was 37 degrees celcius today and I took the Jag out to collect people at the airport. They didn't want to leave the cool interior of my XF when they realized how hot it was when we arrived home 😁 Incidentally, the 8th one is the alarm unit in the dash 😉
Hi Hilton. Some advice please. I notice that your first XF has a discrete protective rubbing strip along the side. I have a 2014 XF petrol V6 (250 KW motor) light metallic blue and had the bodywork tidied up earlier this year, since when the chips and dings in the doors (from parking) have become worse (through the paint in some cases) in just months. It's so bad now that either (a) the side of the car has to be repainted at great expense (>R20,000) or (b) I cover the damage with a rubbing strip, preferably colour-coded, or in black or chrome. I'd like it to look discrete and elegant, like it is an OEM item. I can't find such an item. Where did you get yours? I'm based in Jo'burg. Cheers John.
My friend owns the same car. When he used to unlock the car with the key fob, all the outside lights used to turn on, even the small lights under the side rear view mirrors. One day he pressed the panic button (the red triangle) on the key fob and since then the outside lights DO NOT come on when he unlocks the car. DOES ANYBODY KNOWS HOW TO ACTIVATE THIS FUNCTION? I tried the settings but I couldn't find anything that allows me to do that. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Great video! How about one which describes the 2017 US version of the XF-S Navigation system and the associated video displays that compliment that system? Very confusing (to me) and most definitely not "intuitive". The various configurations of displays that accompany the main map are particularly obtuse.
Thanks for watching Walt - I'll do one next time Jaguar give me a courtesy car. This might be quite soon as my car has to go back to them for that coolant hose they replaced - the new hose is leaking as well, so they will have to do a warranty claim on it.
I love your videos. You're a great jag aficionado. One question. What color is your car? I think mine is the same color (do you see purple/mauve hints in the sun?), but l can't find the name of it. I'd like to buy some touch up pens.
Thanks mate. I don't have the car anymore but I recall it was pearl Grey metallic. Code LMN. Check the Vin sticker as will give you the paintbcode and then have the color pen made for that code otherwise you won't have a match.
Hi. Love your videos. I recently bought a 2009 jaguar xf. The cover of the headlights are quite blurry probably due to the climate in Singapore. The internal lights are still working fine. So just the cover. Do you happen to still have any contacts to obtain the cover? Thanks in advance.
You don't have to change the covers. They have oxidized. All they need is a polish. Search headlight restoration and you will see how it's done. They will look like new afterwards. But I would recommend getting a professional to do it for you.
Thank you! Also, not sure if you had this problem before but when I turn on the climate control, the 4 units will randomly flip open and I need to manually push open those that still remain closed.
They're not supposed to get hot. Not to the touch at least. If they are frosty due to cold weather and you turn on the defroster, you will notice them clear up. If notnworking, they will stay foggy. You can remove the mirror and put a multimeter to the wire terminals to check if any power is supplied to them as well.
Enjoyed the video and learned something about my 2010 XF. My window is scrubbing when I attempt to let the driver and passenger window up. Does it have anything to do with the settings?
Hey Willie, thanks for watchin'. Not sure what you been by scrubbing? Do you mean it makes a squeaking or screeching noise going up and down? If that's the case, try spraying some silicone spray on the inside of the glass and turn the window up and down a few times - keep wiping the silicone off the glass each time until it stops leaving streaks on the glass - you might have to do it one more time again in a few months, but it should stop doing it after that.
Hi Hilton I double lock my XF ..... However, when I use my remote to unlock the car ..... I press Unlock twice.....this unlocks my Driver door..... but still doesn’t unlock my passenger side door ..... I have to press it a further couple of times for it to unlock..... Very Frustrating ..... Can you advise ...... Cheers.....and keep up with the Vids.....
The module that controls all the keyfob modules can be a little slow sometimes. Mine does it too, so I usually just keep pressing the unlock button for passengers. Usually though, its only me in the car, so don't even use the keyfob half the time. Its a little XF quirk :)
On mine if hold the light button down it will setbthe alarm of hazardlights flashing and head lights on like a panic button think you need to hold from more than 10 seconds. It dead lock the door.
Thanks for that info. I didn't know that 😉. Slot can happen in ten seconds tho, mine had a red button on the fob for emergencies and that did the same thing, but it was immediate.
erobles396010 I would think the 2012 has even more functionality. Take a look on your menu under vehicle settings and scroll down to check out the options. As far as I know this feature was standard on all models.
Yes mate go to settings global open close everything on and enjoy pressing them. Hold triangle for long time that help you to find you car at shopping centre
I'd suggest taking another look at my video where I show the menu where to find the option on your XF's menu screen "vehicle options" - if you don't have the option listed there, then you can't manually turn it on or off yourself. I would then recommend to chat to your dealer to activate it using the OBDII programming software they have as they can add it to the menu. They mention in the manual of the XF that if you don't see the options there, the dealer can add them for you ;-) - hope this helps.
Fun fact if you press the light button twice on the key the reverse lights come on in case the car is parked facing the other way. It does it on my 2013 facelift version anyway
Philip Pope Congratulations on your purchase. To put it sport, press down on the dial and turn it to sport. Or just tap the paddle behind the steering wheel and then you're in manual mode. To get out of manual mode just hold the + paddle for a few seconds.
Love your videos! Funny my 2010 XF has the options in the menu for Global windows close but doesn't seem to work :/ Only lets me put the windows and sunroof down. Must be a fault of somesort
@@cumminsturbo98 Wow, thanks for sharing. Very interesting. I'm sure this will help many others who read the comments here as well. I will also mention it in a future video.
@@carfanfan I'm going to have to try that specifically, because I know if I get in my car, someone can't get in the passenger side unless i hit the button in the middle of the dash... I can't lock and unlock the doors by manually operating the lock on my driver side door. Gotta double check that double tapping the open on the remote opens everything. I thought it was supposed to, now I'll have to check and make sure i'm not doing something wrong. That said, you could literally lock someone in your car with this feature and unless the break a window, they're trapped. I can't imagine how that would be possible.
Try this procedure. It worked when I programmed mine many years ago. "Procedure 1. Open the boot lid and drivers door, and switch on the ignition. Press central locking switch (in the centre console) 5 times. The siren will chirp to indicate it has entered learning mode. 2. Press the lock button of the remote, the system will chirp to confirm it has received the remote. 3. To program further remotes, press the central locking switch once. The system will chirp twice for remote number two, then press the lock button of the remote as above. 4. Wait for 30 seconds for the system to close and chirp twice."
Hey Emmanual. Sounds like the wire has broken. The usual culprit is where the wire runs from the body of the car in the trunk channel to the trunk lid. It's a black rubber concertina type thing that you need to pull back to reveal the wires. You will quickly see which wire is broken - that will be your camera wire. You can solder it and patch it up again and it should work again ;)
@@carfanfan Hi, thanks for all the previous advice, they worked ! Meanwhile, keyless entry doesnt work with my car and the car demands docking the key before it could start engine. Is there anything I can do to make it work like you mentioned in your video ? Thanks in advance.
@@emmanueljohnson9014 key docking is rather a serious request from the car. Have you changed the battery on the key fob? It's possible the key needs to be reset to the car.
Must admit I'm guilty of not reading my manual...…..I've had mine for 2 months now and only just started reading...……...tbh I was more interested in protecting my paintwork and just pure driving...….I absolutely love Jaguar and everything it stands for...………..my only disappointment is I've wasted so many years with "shite" cars...…..

Here's a good tip, READ THE MANUAL 😁 BTW I wouldn't recommend leaving the 'global' Windows setting to ON, I forgot to take my key fob out of my pocket one night and in the morning I was fuming when I noticed all the windows were open and I had 2cm of water inside the car after a night of heavy rainfall 😡
Mel B Well, yes, I wouldn't set the global window open either if my car stood outside at night. And one of the reasons I did these videos is because it's a pike at virtually everyone who buys a car and doesn't read the manual. When we buy a kettle, we read manual right? Why not something as complex as a car 😁
The 4.2 was a great engine, had one my 2006 XJ8, and while many dislike the S-Type I have always thought they were good looking, especially the facelifted 2005 and up, and the S-type R is gorgeous...
You have to push it on the far end closest to the rear of the car. Push gently, but firmly and it will open. Don't push it fast, otherwise it won't respond. Jaguar fixed this with the facelift models, but it has always been an issue with the older XF's.
Press and hold the recycle button for more than 3 seconds and it will stay on permanently while driving. It will reset when you turn the car off again. 😉
😂🤣 most people don't read the manual and it's the 2nd most expensive purchase they'll never make. Also, these videos beers mainly for people who don't drive Jags. Hoping to convert some 🤣
Hey there. It has a "sweet spot" where you need to push on the gas flap. Make sure your XF is unlocked, then, while standing in front of the gas flap, put your finger in the middle and move it half way to the left about a Centimetre and a half from the left edge, press firmly for a second or so and it will open. Don't prod it quickly because it won't respond. This was one of things I hated about the XF. Filling up was a drag!
Hilton you are a genius. Just opened.. thanks and keep with the good work bro... I have an 09, the windows seems to be able to go down with remote but can’t go up..
@@felixboateng Hey there, the auto up and down function on remote only works if your windows are all set to to go up and down with one touch via the driver's door window switches. Your auto down is probably set for all of them but not up. To set this for each window, use the driver's window controls and while the windows are up, press the drivers door window switch and hold it until the window is down and you hear a faint click, then pull the switch to close the window and hold it in the up position until the window is closed and you hear a faint click. Repeat this for each window on the driver's door window controls and the keyfob open and close function should work properly.
Double locking is always available and always switched on. The option you showed in the MMI is 2 Stage *Unlocking* which isn't connected to the double locking and affects the following: 2-stage unlocking on: Unlocks the driver's door only. A second press is required to unlock the remaining doors and the tailgate. 2-stage unlocking off: Unlocks all of the doors and the tailgate on the first press.
No prob. I think the 2 Stage Unlocking is a very good thing to have on a keyless entry car, in case you get to an unsafe situation when going to the parking lot.
My guess is for safety reasons. People do the weirdest things and manufacturers have to think of literally every danger and possibility that could harm an owner to prevent lawsuits. Having said that, there are many cars one can remote start like GM and Dodge cars. My CTS used to have remote start and it was great for hot days to run the ac before getting in and driving away. Same could be said for winter and heating the car.
Hilton thanks for the reply, I completely understand what you saying. She is in awesome condition and you looking after her well. Hopefully soon I wil be a owner of an Jaguar XF aswell :)
You have a light switch button on the key fob and didn't know it turned the lights on? Seriously? I'm not having a go, I just thought it was a bit odd. But I must admit I tend to read the manuals, there are often a lot of features on the car that you wouldn't often know about.
Nope - I had no idea what it was for until I tried it one day. Most people don't use these little conveniences on their cars when needed so the video is to remind them ;)
@@carfanfan To be fair my old Volvo S60 had the same thing, but on that car the front side lights and tail lights came on for 30 seconds. Kinda funny actually, I had it for 9 years but only just found out a few weeks ago that you could make the headlight come on for a short while when you left the car by turning the ignition off then pulling the main beam lever towards you. I bet a lot of Volvo owners don't know about that one!
Yes, you are right. I meant 2 stage locking in my video. My apologies. Double locking super locks the doors and arms the motion sensors inside the car whereas 2 stage locking unlocks only the driver's door and another press unlocks the rest.
No, but my guess is it probably needs a squirt of silicone spray inside. Pull the handle all the way out and spray into the mechanism. See if that helps 😉
I have an xf 3.0s I have had the plastic rocker cover crack twice it’s a 5 hour job and£900 to common fault jaguar says fair wear and tear WHAT A JOKE. the rear fog lights fail there is no fuse for them it’s a cam bus unit another pricy job. Another fair wear and tear from jaguar?
Hey Philip, sorry to hear. Mine was quite reliable until I sold it. It did start needing a few things, but that's understandable considering the age and mileage. Most cars need attention at around 60,000 miles - that's why the warranty ends there LoL.
