Good to know that it's better to administer Timolol early in the day rather than at night. Thank you!

I work in a freezer and these drops definitely make a person way more susceptible to the cold. So much so im gonna be asking my eye doc for an alternative medication.

So important for me to hear. I have low blood pressure but have to take something for my serious glaucoma. Just started timolol perservative free because I'm very allergic to preservatives. Going through a rough patch right now seeing two specialists next week. Wish me luck. You are very helpful.

Fabulous, so much information in 12 minutes. Really appreciate you making these. I know they will never get the viewing figures of a cat video but they are so appreciated and so important to those of us fighting this disease.

Thank you once again, Dr Richardson for your informative videos. I am very surprised and slightly concerned to learn that Timolol does not work effectively when applied at night. Yet, I have received instructions to use the drops at night time. After learning about negative effects of preservatives and requested, I am now using Ganfort PF 0.3/5 (bimatoprost/timolol). I am keen to change my application time to morning in this case? Would you agree to this? Thank you.

I used to be on# timolol but suffered palpitations for years. I was put on #betopic a month ago and it's just been fantastic apart from the unexciting burning sensation I get on contact. Thanks for this information. Greetings from #Ghana , #Accra

I am in my 60ies and Timolol drop lowers iOP but it lowers my blood pressure quite considerably to 80/60.

Hello and thank you so much for your very useful videos. Could you in an other video talk about extreme dipping at night very often followed by hypertension in the morning ? As an example, after wearing a 24h Holter, my cardiologist measured my dipping with values down to 6.4-4.1 at night and hypertension of 18-14 early in the morning...with no evident explanations and no medication to fix the issue. What in your opinion could cause the night extreme dipping and the hypertension in the morning ? Thks again and best regards. Philippe.

Hi, hope all is well, I have glaucoma and I'm on a topical carbonic anhydrase inhibitor/beta blocker eye drop, which is triggering systemic autoimmune issues, no matter how healthy I'm eating or fasting. Any suggestions? Thank in advance

can long term use of timolol cause cataracts or is that not possible. Also is fixed combination timolol safe for your eyes and blood flow to eyes as long as you take it beofre 4pm, do you still recommend fixed combination timolol as long as patients take it beofre 4pm

Is Cosopt and Trusopt the same?
@DrDavidDRichardsonMDSanMarino
@DrDavidDRichardsonMDSanMarino 3 года назад
No. Cosopt is what is called a “fixed combination” of Trusopt plus timolol (a beta-blocker).

l have been taking azarga a fixed combination timolol drop for 6 years , it has the preservative BAK in it. l have'nt noticed any problems of side effects does that mean BAK is not harming my eyes? should l ask to switch to another eye drop thats preservative free , is it safe to stay on azarga
@DrDavidDRichardsonMDSanMarino
@DrDavidDRichardsonMDSanMarino 2 года назад
Most people tolerate BAK well enough when using only one or two drops each day. Problems generally appear in those who require 3+ drops each day or who have taken these preserved eye drops for years.

I was diagnosed glaucoma when I was 21! I remember being so upset. I like the beta blockers because they do not make your eyes bloodshot like the P.A's do. However, being on timilol I noticed exercise resistance and fatigue.. I cant break a sweat on the treadmill any thoughts on this? Do most people get this?
@DrDavidDRichardsonMDSanMarino
@DrDavidDRichardsonMDSanMarino 2 года назад
Beta-blockers are known to reduce heart rate which can be an issue when trying to workout. I recommend punctual occlusion (plenty of videos on how to do this online) immediately after using timolol. Alternatively, betaxolol is a beta-blocker glaucoma medication that is less likely to cause low heart rate (but it stings and must be used twice a day).
