Beta Motorcycles Demo Event + Beta 390 RR-S Test Ride and First Impressions From an Average Rider

I was lucky enough to score an invite to a nearby Beta Motorcycle demo event featuring the opportunity to take several of the 2022 Beta motorcycles, both dual sports and dirt bikes, on a trail riding test ride at a local enduro race track. The fabulous Ryan from Giant Loop invited me to the event, and after a little difficulty finding the place, I was able to get all signed up for my first Beta Motorcycle test ride. The first bike I rode was the 2022 Beta 390 RR-S dual sport. After a slower first lap to get used to the bike and get a sense for what the Beta 390 RR-S off road test ride course was going to be like, I was able to go a little faster on a second loop and really get a solid sense of the bike. This video is more of a Beta 390 test ride and first impressions video and less of a full Beta 390 RR-S review, but if you're interested in finding out what it's like for an average rider to take this awesome four stroke Beta 390 dual sport for a couple laps around a tight singletrack course with some faster sections and even a few jumps, check out this test ride video!
I'm not the typical rider that a Beta is marketed towards. I'm definitely on the average to mediocre end of the spectrum, but even so I found a lot to like on my off road Beta 390 RRS test ride.

@Rev Armstrong It's like comparing a tractor to a rallycar. Just the frame and suspension on a Beta is on a different planet compared to the KLX.

As a adventure bike guy ( bmw 1250 gsa) I made the mistake of getting a ktm 690 enduro r to get better in dirt. I will be selling it and getting a smaller trail bike like a beta 390. Your video helps a lot

I haz a 390rr. Bought it from a friend of a friend. I absolutely love it. Tons of traction, great torque. Crushes the technical single track and hill climbs. Mellower to me than the 350’s I’ve ridden (KTM/Husky). I’ve ridden and raced a ktm450 and a YZ250R (285 kit) and this is BY FAR my favorite bike. Will be replacing with a 390 Race Edition.

Love my 2015 390. Ride my 2020 xTrainer most of the time, but in the less technical areas, the 390 is where it's at.

Lmao I cannot get over the fact you had the opportunity to run a beta 390 on an awesome flowing trail and never got passed 1/4 throttle You are awesome dork do not change or push yourself maintain the control and have fun for all of us because the lord knows I would have been running those trails hard and probably catch a tree

@@DorkintheRoad absolutely a compliment on your self control and ability to ride within your limits while still being able to have as much or more fun doing it then anyone else out there. Me on the other hand even though I am now a 30+ vet @ over 300lbs still thinks that he is 20 years old 200lbs A class racer that still thinks he can fly like he used to 😆

My riding buddy just bought one of these. He let me ride it today and it has more power than I expected. I gave it half throttle and that was all I wanted. It's so light and nimble. I kinda want the dual sport version.

I love my 2019 390. As a shitty slow rider I can honestly say they are worth the money. Thousands of miles on mine with out an issue and the service from Beta is second to none. I have never had trouble getting ahold of Beta USA. You should hit up Tim and Beta USA and see if he will give you a long term 390 review bike. We got a 500 for a year and it was awesome.

I have a 2021 Beta 500 RRS that I got last November. Love it! Those Betas are awesome trail machines, especially that 390. I got the 500 because I'm a little bigger guy and I wanted to make sure it could haul my butt up these Colorado mountains. 😬

@@sc7244 For a new rider I wouldn't suggest the 500. The 390 has plenty of power to do almost anything, and the 500 can overpower you sometimes on the trails. I love my 500 still, but if I were to start over buying a Beta knowing what I know now, I would get the 390.

Me too! I bought mine completely on what I've seen on RU-vid, etc. and the specs. I wanted something 200 pounds lighter than my T7 that was different and street legal and this is definitely that.

@@brianq103 Test rode the whole Beta 2020 fleet and the 390 is amazing. Would love to have one next to my T7. Could do longer dual sport rides on them and still do amateur hare scramble races on.

Yeah, looked good so I bought a 2021 390 RR Race. Wasnt easy ... not one dealer could get me one. The distributor got it for me. Apparently it was the last one off the line for that year. Arrived from the factory in Italy without a muffler/exhaust. Dealer put a used, noisy crappy FMF one on it that I absolutely hated and it was not the one that came with the stock bike. Within a couple of months, it was in for a top end gasket replacement. A month later it need a fuel sending unit. Also, the speedo unit did not work when I got it. When I finally received the exhaust/muffler two months into my season, the tire hit the insideof the muffler and made big black marks. Beta said this was normal in the email they sent me. The LED aftermarket lights the dealer put on also didn't work and they weren't able to figure out where the problem was. Also lost a head pipe bolt within a few hundred kms. PDI was abysmal. Distributor provided absolutely no help whatsoever though they were aware that the bike shipped with parts missing. Seems like the fuel sending unit stopped working again. Haven't troubleshooter it yet to see what it could be.

beta.."The Italian princess" with a Dork on the trail. I imagine you were riding with the 13 tooth front. It and the 15 tooth come with the 390rr...I would have let you ride the 300rr at GL ride if you asked!

I got my first non dirt bike(crusier) and still get a itching for the woods and dirt on occasion activating on what I need to buy after they sell the cruiser.... Maybe the beta? Maybe a good old bush pig DR 650. So many options 😮

Wondering now if you rode the 350 and/or 430. Both are a bit more on the punchy side. The 390 is just so sweet and easy to ride with the longer stroke motor.

Power and torque: better Gearing and transmission: harder to tell without getting over 30mph or so but seemed fine for the terrain I was in.

Put at 4:30 RRS dual sport bike had an issue at 15 months and it dropped a valve seat beta fixed it and didn't charge me nothing and awesome warranty beta is a stand-up company better than KTM or husky my son-in-law's Husqvarna cooked at 1 year and they would not warranty it so that's why I didn't buy a husky being a husky fan my whole life rode my brother's beta 2019 500 rrb sport

10k? The 2023 390 rrs is 11599 before any fees it's like close to 14k out the door.. although betta is a great bike that's way too much for me..I would consider one of the demo bikes but they don't sell them

@@gabrielkopp2036 If you can find a leftover over you should be able to swing 10k OTD all day long, maybe 9k of you're lucky. Beta is doing 1k off all RS models until then end of April, including 2023. I found a couple places in LA at 10k OTD, areas that don't sell as well may be able to do 9k.

I have a 30" inseam and a 300rr Beta and I can put down both feet to the arch with my motocross boots on and geared up. The 1" lower kit is in the $100 range and the 2" lower kit is $300-400 and are easy to install.

@@soilsmanadv6673 Thanks! I’ve got a Honda CRF250F with a seat height of 34.8”, and I’m fine on that bike. Anything higher than that is sort of intimidating, but it’s nice to know they offer lowering kits for these.

@msims4774 I have the 300 XTrainer and I’m 5’1. I shaved down the seat and took some of the preload out to allow it to sag more and it’s good for me
