Hey guys! 😃 What would you want to see next in this series? I can already tell you we will cover more tools and see practical cases too. But your ideas are welcome! 😉
@@ritschratsch6473 Not that I know... The sliders are supposed to make it easier, and you just have to "forget" about the numbers. Betaflight is probably working on other ways to make it simpler, since the sliders were only introduced one year ago.
@@FoxurFPV I would love to cover PID tuning in the near future. Right now I'm still looking for an approach that could work for any situation. It' very specific to each quad and each pilot. But getting a strong base with Blackbox would probably help a lot of pilots! Definitely on my list. :)
Hi guys, thanks for the video. For me it's so difficult to understand the blackbox graphs, so I suppose it's the same for the rest of the people, at least at the beginning. So It's a big help to us this kind of videos, but deeper please. Keep Going!! Ideas? Could be for example battery performance, for example what elemments help us to improve it. Ummm another one could be Configuration, for example, it's a big mystery what TX/RX, UART and what port I need to use for whatever I need, mixing with smartaudio, VTX config and RSSI signal, analog? not? Telemetry? Rssi channel? WTF Only say thnks for your time and effort to tech us.
I've been watching different pid tuning youtube videos for months and Lénorde FPV's video(above) is where I finally started to understand tuning! Subscribed! Thank you Lénorde!
Your English is very good with quite a heavy accent, but as a bonus, that causes me to focus on what you are saying much better than most other videos. I've tried watching so much on this subject buy start to fizzle out within a couple of minutes. Very clear and concise with good audio and clean video. Kudos to you!
Thank you very much 😁 I would still like to work on that accent, but I guess it would require to travel a bit... Thanks again and good luck with your tune !
This video is so well made and easy to understand. Even as an advanced pilot I really enjoyed the content. Can't wait for your next one and keep up the awesome content Lenorde! 🔥🔥🔥
Mit grossem Abstand die besten Videos! Alles top erklärt! Bitte mach weiter so! Deine Videos sind sehr motivierend und spannend erklärt. Kann man dich irgendwie unterstützen?
very clear vid, well done. I use a trick for years to avoid safe returns with damaged gear: I never have airmode always on. My arm switch is actually 3 position: 0 / arm / arm with airmode. So say I bend a prop to a point where I cannot normally fly and need to cruise back, I step arm to the middle and I do not have to fight airmode. I guess we could make a scenario where BF kills airmode based on the data corresponding to emergency situations. But hey I am doing it for years and I was able to finish two important heats during a race after collisions where airmode tried to sent me to the moon.
I actually have a dedicated airmode switch too! When I first started FPV, I didn't know if I needed airmode all the time, and since then I still have this switch. It comes in handy sometimes, but I never checked the difference with damaged gear, it's a good idea !
So good explained! Why did you stop making this series? And could you please do a video, where you filter a whole Kwad? like where and why did you set specific filters
Thanks! Those videos are actually planned but I've been renovating a house for the past year and I don't have a video studio until it's finished. I will do all those videos as soon as I can 😀
But SAFELY, because all quads won't react great to it. If something is wrong, this may cause fly-away. Step by step is the safe way. Blackbox is the trouleshooting tool and double chek tool.
@@felixfpv7872 Thank you for reading :) The blog article is a bit different because I can't use my video script so I ended up rewriting the whole article.
@@techboss3067 Of course, there you go: lenorde-fpv.com/betaflight-filter-settings-part1 The blog is not really finished, that's why I don't promote it yet.
Hello! If you don't see the debug in Blackbox Explorer, maybe you didn't enable it in Betaflight ? Try to repeat the steps at 4:00 and make sure to hit "save and reboot".
Hello! There isn't a proportional relation between your filters and the graphs. Some quads can be noisy and harder to filter properly. The general idea is that if you lower the frequency of the filters, there should be less "green" on the right side of the graph. But you don't want to reduce them because it induces phase delay and a worse behaviour. The graphs gives you a visual indicator of how much noise there is after filtering. We are trying to raise the filters frequency and checking if we see a lot more noise than before or if it's still fine. It is only a matter of trial and error to get to a point where there isn't too much noise. The other indicator, which is even more important, is the motor temperature. A hotter motor means that there is too much noise, and then you can confirm and isolate the problem with Blackbox. This video is only an introduction to the tools used and the method. I still need to create more videos covering the effects of filters in real-life situations, but it takes a lot of time to gather all the useful data with different settings. I have postponed a lot of flight sessions due to bad weather, but I still hope the next videos will come very soon !
@@Zattoo20 I know I already said it was coming, but I SWEAR I'm working on it every time I can and it is getting closer to the end. Please give me a few more days, and the video will be there ! 😅 Also, I realize that I really need to optimize my workflow. I'm already working on new ways to produce videos faster so you don't have to wait that long again. 😉
Hi Lénorde. Thanks for this perfect explanation. If I have a normal BLHeli_S, so no bidirectional dshot, can I even try this filtering procedure? If yes, should I disable RPM Filter before starting?
Hello! There is a way to enable RPM Filters with BlHeli_S ESC. You will need to use another firmware like "JESC" or "JazzMaverick". I haven't tried this myself, so I advise you to take a look at Joshua Bardwell's video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NgBJJG0slM4.html And if you prefer flying without RPM filters, you should leave the "Dynamic Notch Filter" at defaults and tune from there. The rest of the video will still apply for you except for the dynamic filter settings.
@@LenordeFPV gyro graphs are fine as in they peak up so much as the beginning frequencies where you are controlling the quad. Same goes with the P term graphs but for some reason the D term graphs for all axis don't have the same spike at the beginning. I think I'm not pushing my quad enough for the test flights so I'm going to test it again tomorrow.
@@tuttuti123 Feel free to send me some screenshots. If you have any troubles, a lot of great people can help you on the "Betaflight Blackbox Log Review" Facebook group! 😉
Lenorde, i only have BF 4.1.1 as my Matek F4 clone is not supported anymore on BF 4.2.x , i dont see PID D on the custom graph list, what i need to do ?
Hello! The Betaflight version should not be a problem. All this data is stored no matter what settings you use. Do you see other PID settings in the list ? Or can you see other items missing ?
Hello! This video is more an introduction about the tools. I would like to continue this series with specific cases to help finding your own settings. The reason why most videos don't tell what settings to use is because it is very hard to come up with one general answer that will work for everyone. I totally understand your demand, and since a lot of people also asked for it, I will try to be more practical in the future 😉
