This is BetaFPVs largest "whoop" (ducted quad) they have ever made and definitely the fastest since it runs on 4S!
Note that this is a prototype but the final version will be very similar
The jello that you see in the video is due to my specific prototype having unbalanced motors-the final version should have properly balanced motors. I didn't run the stock props that it came with because the imbalanced motors did not work well with those props and only accentuated the jello I was experiencing
How does it fly? From my experience it flys best on a light weight 4S LiPo. You get tons of power in order to be able to pull out of dives at a moments notice or just cruise at respectable speeds. I did not experience any washouts while running 2X 300mah 2S LiPos in series (40g for the LiPos and homemade adapter). I ran 3-blade Avon Rush props for 4S.
Flights on 3S leave a bit to be desired. In my experience 3S does not have a good power to weight ratio leading to somewhat marginal freestyle performance. 3S flys very well if you just want to cruise around at high or low speeds. I did have washouts on 3S and I believe it has to do with the poor power to weight ratio that a 450mah 3S LiPo yields. 3S would be a lot better with a LiPo that weighs around 35g. I ran 3-blade Avon Rush props for 3S.
The 85X flys surprisingly well on 2S which you wouldn't expect with such low kv motors but the larger prop size and lighter weight of the quad overall lead to respectable flight characteristics. You wont be pulling out of dives at the last moment but 2S should be great for indoor flying. I rarely got washouts on 2S. I ran Avon 4-blade 2022 props for 2S.
