I've been flying Angle Mode for the last three years. I don't care what others say, it's how I like to fly. I love watching others who do the jaw-dropping dives, rolls and flips. No other flying craft can do that kind of stuff, and more power to those who can really put it through its paces. But I'm an old git, with a much lower need for the ol' adrenaline these days. Doddlin' along's just fine. . .

No doubt. I mostly fly angle mode too. I find it recovers faster when you bump something.

Flying Acro compare to Angle Mod is like riding a bicycle vs Tribike. But once you learn how to balance it yourself, you don't want to go back. That small BetaFPV is a good starting. Not too dangerous.

My first FPV quad flying was at the beginning of 2017, I attached an Eachine EF-01AIO cam+vtx to a Syma X5C clone, and viewed it through my HD2's that I still use today, it was a blast but looking back at the DVR recordings now they seem so tame. Then got a Kingkong 90GT, ET100 & ET120, the ET100 is practically indestructible, the prop guards are still intact after all the crashes including the ones in my vid "FPV tree diving on Selsley Common", recorded with a tiny 720p30 DVR on board.

I know this is meant for "beginners", but it helps to also test the upper limits of performance just so people know just how far they can progress with such a model. A lot of these ducted quads can't do a split-s, and that often boils down to either power and/or flight control software. Since this is brushless, it should have the power. I think that's kind of the litmus test for upper limit of performance. Take it outside and do a split-s and see how it behaves.

I flew the brushed version at Rampage in the micro area, inside a decommissioned nuclear refueling facility where there is a giant 3D maze of pipes to explore. BetaFPV donated 8 kits so everybody would have a chance to fly in there. I'm glad they did, because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to. That spot is one of the ultimate spaces for tiny whoop exploration. I uploaded an edit of some DVR from the flights, because that is truly a spectacular place. I need to go back there with an HD-equipped whoop next time.

And how did you find the brushed Cetus in terms of performance, handling, value for money etc?

@@jono8588 I'd say it's a bit above average in all those categories, assuming nothing fails on it prematurely. I only flew it relatively slowly in manual mode, weaving in and out of very tight gaps, and it did well at that. I like the feel of brushed motors on whoops, for some reason, but they are a big disadvantage in terms of durability and maintenance. Brushed motors wear out after a few hours of flight time, which is a lot of flights, but brushless motors have a much greater service life. The camera on the Cetus is not particularly good, but it's adequate. If you just want to quickly get a taste of FPV without much hassle, it might be worth the roll of the dice to get one or two of these kits.

@@jono8588 Yeah, you might be able to put a different video antenna on it, but I'm not sure if it has a connector or if you would have to do tricky, small soldering. It should have enough range for flying around inside most people's houses.

Seems like an OK kit for newbies. Although in the end, it might cost you more since you are more likely to buy new goggles and radio if you really wanna get into the hobby. I bought a Lite2 Radio a year ago (non SE version running OpenTX), it worked just fine for 6 months until a wire snapped on the roll axis. A friend of mine bought the SE version 2 months ago and a wire snapped after a month and a half. Also, both our radios had "twitchy" gimbals (small movements at the center), which is okay when you start, but you will eventually feel that in your flight as you progress. My go-to "kit" for beginners would be Eachine EV-800DM, either a Jumper T-Lite if you like gamepad style radios or a RadioMaster TX12 and a URUAV UZ85. This should cost around $250 without batteries

Can you recommend any different batteries that give more flight time? Now that I'm flying in manual fast I find the short flight time very frustrating compared to my geprc tinygo. But this frame seems so much more durable.

I have the Cetus Pro, and really like it, but I would like to upgrade to better goggles. What do you recommend? Something broadly compatible with the other BetaFPV drones and micro drones in general.

Generally goggles in fpv are compatible. The divider is analoge vs hd. HD being dji and shark byte. If your budget for new goggles is above $300 then we can look at skyzone goggles like the 020, or the cobra x also from skyzone. They can actually be purchased just under $300. If you have more than $300 we can go fatshark hdo2 or skyzon 04x. Keep in mind with fatshark we also have to buy a module to receive the video signal.

I have the SE version....I have had it for a long time but have only really used it for simulators (and not a whole ton of them) and just the other say my roll trigger stuck and now it wont spring back to the middle (kinda like throttle) I am about to pop it open and see if I cant fix it (isnt that why we got into this hobby anyways? hahaha) cheers!

Hi Nick my name is William Freeze and i have seen lots of reviews on this CETUS PRO KIT but I have to say you do it best all the other ones don't show it how you do its really good and made up my mind on buying it, but I'm little scared because it comes out of CHINA no offence to them but I've ordered 2 other FPV KITS not even close to being as good as the CETUS PRO KIT and I tried to return them I had a problem, so you must understand how it makes me feel to order again from CHINA but i do know NOW from your video here that the CETUS PRO KIT is the kit for me so I will buy it with 4 extra battery's then once a month buy battery's for it till I have about 30 battery's, ohh a question can you put higher battery's in the drone like higher then 450mah????? to get longer flight time because I hear flight time is around 4 to 5 mins per battery?

Yes ordering online from a far away business is troublesome. And most drone companies don’t have the sort of customer service that will allow for outright returns. We can really only get that sort of derive from fpv shops that are in our own countries. Or even better, closer to us but that is very rare

I just got my Cetus Pro kit. The first battery was ok but when i wanted to fly with the second battery, the normal mode was behaving differently. Suddenly the drone just climb to a max height even if the throttle were at mid

sounds like the different in battery performance. If the quad won't come down then that indicates a problem.

Hi Nick ! It would be very cool, if you would find a way to increase flight time out of the Cetus Pro. I've got one to get in to the hobby and I love it, but flight time is terrible - only 3 minutes. I would be enjoy it more, if it would fly 5 - 6 min. Or like your Nano models - 10 min ))

Our options are very limited. The battery tray limits the flight time and decreasing weight will likely decrease the durability. The only real option would be different props, maybe biblade props.

I am not sure, this sounds like the quad and radio are pre-configured in something other than mode 2. This would be a good question for support to answer.

I see people say negative stuff about angle mode I may have been one of them :). But if you watch the really good angle racers there's nothing easy about it almost looks harder

Now days, angle mode is way harder me (granted I try it like 2 flights a week) :). I did see a whoop racing poll asking about who flies angle vs rate/acro. I was surprised to find it so close...nearly 50/50.

I waited way to long to leave angle mode. That said, aside from whoop racing, I think it is a great way for the beginner to learn throttle control without other distractions.

Yes, that is the vtx, our video transmitters or vtx do get warm to hot depending on their size.

I have crashed into many of the pictures, but have yet to cause any damage. My wife and kids have caused picture frame damage just being normal non flying humans in the house. I should have some leeway if it does every happen.

I used a separate set of goggles with a dvr and the sound comes from yet another camera I edit into the video so the quad can be heard.

I have watched quite a lot of reviews and they all talk about that you dont need to do anything on this quad and it is flying good..and it is meant to be used by people that learning.....so i buy this thing mainly as im trying to get my son something so he can use to practice and use a remote in simulator. So when i open this and started i was like this is terrible flyer.....terrible jelo in picture like you have while motors are having some resonance... First tried with sensors ON and was like what is this....kind of what happen to you when you started it. You also went pretty fast from that mode out.... I only attempted to just in door fly sport mode and fast speed. But it is so wobbly and floaty....totally not locked at all. Compare to my mobula 7 and mobula 6 this thing is unfortunately a total miss i would say. Only good thing is a controller as we use it on simulator (micro drones) to practice.... I did attempt to tune it a bit and was not able to do much as there are NO betaflight stuff for tuning so i only have PID available...and unfortunately my kid managed to snap off USB connector thingy while replacing battery's (he is 6 thou) I believe this kit is definitely to expensive for what you get..... Either way you have a great channel...thank you and have fun in this great hobby.

The camera lens is set to focus on me and not the items around or behind me. This is by design, and a "feature" of dslr cameras. A video camera tends to focus the entire frame, thus nothing is as "sharp".
