I really liked Borgov's character and the similarities between him and Beth are so vivid I had to make this fanvid. enjoy! make sure to rate, comment, & subscribe! Series: The Queen's Gambit (2020) Song: Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata
I love how they handled the Soviet chess players. Didnt make them evil villains. Borgov was an a amazing character. Glad they gave him a gracious defeat.
Хахахах не ведитесь на это😂 это то что у европейцев и американцев называется “good russian” остальное население в лучшем случае мирный скот, в худшем - агрессивное быдло
This video does such a great job of showing just how much Borgov respected Beth. He came to our defense when his bodyguards insulted her, he was impressed when she spoke Russian, he seemed disappointed by how he won in Paris, he offered her a draw, and was a good sport when he lost. From the very beginning, Borgov saw her potential, and saw her as an equal.
I really think that when she's in front of him in their second game, It feels like Borgov is looking at her like how a father would scold their daughter for drinking the night before her match starts 😂 and at the end of their match he hugged her like a proud father would to his daughter 💖
Yeah he waited for her to defeat him. He wanted to pass the torch but he couldn't just lose because he plays like shit purposely. He wanted her to beat him at his best. That's why he was so disappointed in her during the match in Paris.
He waited for her to defeat him. He wanted to pass the torch but he couldn't just lose because he plays like shit purposely. He wanted her to beat him at his best. That's why he was so disappointed in her during the match in Paris. He saw her as his successor and wanted her to be at her best as well.
@@caroline4323 Oh, if you want to treat yourself, check out "The woman who dreamed of a man". Mind you, it's quite a Danish piece of film (rather explicit and slightly weird)... but he plays the handsome guy there. And if not, just search him here on RU-vid... there are plenty of videos
What I love so much about Queen's Gambit is that it didn't try to force an ideology into the show, not a US-patriotic one, even though it was a Russian-American competition, nor a feminist one, even though the lead was a woman in a male-dominated field. So rare!
Maybe I'm naive but stuff like that never crosses my mind, unless very blatant BUT will say I watched another video after binging the show and the female uploader was going about empowerment and women's this and that and immediately turned me off to it and it's not like I'm against that but when someone is so blatantly pushing something, it can be annoying and definitely enjoyed the fact the Soviets weren't demonized as if often the case, especially today in 2022 with Russia
I've never seen it so well handled in modern television. Like, the sexism is there, but it's very naturally done. A lesser show would've had men constantly demeaning her and making rude comments. But real life sexism is usually more subtle than that. I mean yes you get maybe one or two direct comments, but most of it is either understated condescension, or the fact that the news can't stop talking about the fact that she's a girl which is very true to life. There was the odd in your face comment but it never felt forced. It never felt like the show was preaching at you, it simply portrayed how people in the 60s would've reacted to someone like Beth. I also liked how she had so many men in her life who supported her and wanted her to succeed and she even accepted their help instead of it just being her alone. The show has a very healthy view of masculinity despite being centered around a woman in a male dominated field. Of course women helped her out as well, but even the initially sexist men turned out to be more layered and eventually wish the best for Beth. There's also just Beth herself. Female protagonists recently aren't allowed to show weakness. Beth not only gets beaten a lot by men, and receives a lot of help from men in a way that never undermines how brilliant she is, but beyond her mental health struggles that the story is centered around, Beth is also shown to be very immature and bratty, never once accepting defeat with any grace. She pretty much always storms off in anger and throws a tantrum. It makes her seem all that much stronger when she keeps coming back despite how discouraging a loss can be for her, and for functioning without her drugs in the last episode. A strong character is one that overcomes their weaknesses, not one that was always strong that's not something any human on the planet can relate to.
That scene where she walks into the room and there are cameras flashing in her face always stays with me. When you're hungover, flashing lights are like a giant middle finger.
Perfectly selected music for the scenes .. I never would have thought that two people just by looking at each other can so much reflect the interior and mood of this series and the fight of great minds ..
I watched all the episodes in a single day, and I don't even play chess, but I thought it was all amazing and the actor who plays Borgov did an amazing job, said almost nothing and scared me, not to mention he's beautiful, Anya is so exotic and different, the last scene of her looking at the ceiling was perfect.
In real life though (and if there was a Part 2) the Soviets (Borgov included) would probably all start colluding against Beth once they realized she was a threat to win the World Championship...like they did against fischer
This is such a great video these two are just so perfect for eo the way they both can sense each other's presence was what sold this ship to me. Been reading their fanfics like crazy pls anyone reading this write more of them if u can I am in love with their chemistry!!!
In fact, I would like to congratulate the composer of this video for his genius in merging the similarities between the two central characters in this wonderful drama and adding Beethoven's music "Moonlight" as the background to this wonderful video which led to the presence of depth in its content. My warm congratulations and best wishes for continued success.
I liked this montage, but I feel like a couple very important scenes were left off. There are several moments where Beth and Borgov share the same expressions, the same small movements, like when they're getting ready for the tournament in Russia they both drink at the same time, cross their legs while sitting at the same time in the same way, make the same moves during their simultaneous games. It's a sweet detail that showed that they were very similar in some aspects, just like Borgov said in the elevator
There are so many good scenes in this movie it is amazing. The way they portray her, her thinking, her feelings. How she reacts. The facial shots and individual settings are set up to in darkness & light. Seeing everybody smoking is historic. This movie is excellent. It is real. Not fake junk.
@Miro Reverby In Russia, they say the same nonsense about the Americans, it's called propaganda. I am very glad that in the series the Soviet people were shown as HUMANS and not as stereotypical puppets, it is important to understand that regardless of politics and leaders, people remain people
@Miro Reverby It's not hard for me to believe it. To be honest, I do not know the details, since there is no information about this in the Russian segment of the Internet. I was based rather on what I hear about how history is being "rewritten" in favor of one of the powers. What I wrote about people is more related to the spectators, yes I was glad to see Russian athletes who play well and know how to accept their defeat, but what warms my soul is ordinary spectators who have no some kind of enmity for Harmon and sincerely glad that she won. Yes, I know that we are talking about the Soviet Union, but I am pleased to think that despite everything that is happening now in politics and in the world in general, it didn’t hurt to portray us as normal people :)
Beth learned she didn't need pills or alcohol to do her best work. How sad that there are writers and painters and other people who think they work best when they're under the influence. If some of these people can do well when drunk or stoned, how much more could they achieve when sober?
They really have sexual tension as hell.Especially when the chess games. They were easily able to be passionate lovers in the movie . In addition, this is the most beautiful edit that I see. I like moonlight sonata more with this edit. Thanks you al lot.🍷
Awesome treller! Awesome movie! 👍I Love this movie so much! ❤ this movie is very intresting in my oppinion! Amazing movie! 👍I realy Like it! ❤❤❤👍👍👍❤❤❤👍👍👍
Tevis was also abandoned by his family in a convalescent home as a child, where he got addicted to pills as a kid...Tevis wrote Beth Harmon (and his other great protagonists - 'Fast Eddie Felson', The Man Who Fell to Earth) from a lot of personal experience
