I used headphone to listen and although the sound comes from only left side , I still love it. Thank you sir.

One of the greatest pieces of music. It was my introduction to classical music by my Dad. It has been my companion through lifes good times and my support during bad times.

Thanks for posting. My favorite Beethoven’s violin concerto recording since I’d heard it for the first time. Never known the video of it exists. Kennedy looks absolutely being out of this world here but listening to him is such a joy...

The best version of this Concerto on earth. No wonder it is copyrighted by EMI.

I'm humbled. I haven't listened to Nigel Kennedy for more than 30 years, having dismissed him as an overrated poser and being fed up with hearing him play Vivaldi. But now I realise how wrong I was. This is sublime and it is such a shame that he rarely (ever?) plays classical music nowadays. He was so talented and if he still has the talent I hope he continues to share.

In case you haven't heard them, he did a fine Brahms VC with Tennstedt and the LPO in 1990. Also excellent Bruch VC1 and Mendelssohn VC with the English Chamber Orchestra in 1987.

The date of this concert was June 12, 1992, with Klaus Tennstedt conducting the NDR Orchestra at the Alte Schloss in Kiel, Germany. The program opened with Beethoven's Coriolan Overture, followed by the Violin Concerto. After the intermission, Brahms Symphony 1 closed the show.

Wonderful performance. For Tennstedt fans, like me, there's a terrific 1989 video of this piece on RU-vid, of Kyung-Wha Chung soloing with Tennstedt conducting the Concertgebouw. Interesting to compare the interpretations of Kennedy and Chung. I find both very moving.

This is an amazing performance and I have it on CD. The reason that the sound goes in and out is interesting. This RU-vid recording clearly came from a duped VHS tape originally. Back in the 1990s (when VHS was new and 'king') they had to stop people from duping VHS tapes. They came up with a unique system where the sound would pulse in-and-out when you duped a VHS tape so that it became very unpleasant experience and you'd have incentive to buy the VHS new. This recording must be from a "duped" VHS tape so the sound fades at times. I will admit that I have listened to this recording 1000 times. It mesmerizes me. I run with it constantly.

thank you. I have been so intriqued by this upload, the conducter I thought was Kurt Sandeling but I agree it could absolute be Klaus Tennstedt, I am not sure about the orchestra and the 90's absolute he, Nigel Kennedy was in Copenhagen in the 90's and performed the Concerto by Beethoven. He looks much to young to be in 2016.

13:50 or so you can see it from the side angle. i've always wondered how he could play like that. in general this is not how the average person's posture should be when playing, but somehow he adapted to it.
