I love listening to Bette Davis interviews. She was one in a million. I practically felt her pain when she talked about her daughter- she didn't deserve that!

but it wasn't actor friendly. it was studio friendly. they'd make 700 dollars a week and make flicks that would take in millions.

@@justinb954 Cary Grant and Marilyn Monroe helped break that model. Cary refused to renew his contract and became a free agent, and contracted for a percentage of the profits instead of a salary. It also gave him more control over who he worked with, which pictures he was in, etc. Marilyn Monroe, tired of being typecast as the dumb blonde, formed her own production company and it also gave her more control and earning power. But you didn't make much if the movie tanked.

Betty Davis was the most intelligent , amazing actress of our time. She had the mind of a man, that is why she was criticized so much. It was cruel of her daughter to write a book about her. It broke her heart. She was a survivor. I love all her movies and respect and admire her so much.
@janeydoe-nuts8663
@janeydoe-nuts8663 4 года назад
So bc she "thinks like a man" u perceive her to be intelligent? Not really sure what u mean or how those two go hand and hand without being obviously offensive. Lol.
@janeydoe-nuts8663
@janeydoe-nuts8663 4 года назад
Rude? Im not sure. She was thrown into this life without her consent. She never asked for the attention that came with fame of her mother. Maybe she should have waited until Ms Davis had passed. However Ms Davis talked openly about family and her daughter therefore her giving her point of view isnt rude at all. I dare say at the most I will call it simply, fair.

@@janeydoe-nuts8663 It means that she thinks with her head,not her heart. She's an Aries..we're ALL more 'masculine' than feminine. She 'has the mind of a man' means that she's more business minded..and she says what's on her mind. She's not delicate ,she's honest and strong. She doesn't think emotionally. I understand what Maxula means... It doesn't matter if anyone agrees.....I understand Bette....ARIES woman! We don't play with anyone.

She had the mind of a woman who was strong, nothing at all like a man. Sadly, some men today don't value being men and women aren't proud of being women. Men, be the best man you can. Women, focus on being a great woman.

Bette was so classy ... Hollywood tryng to make her look like she had a 'sexual' problem when in fact, she speaks to simply say good sex can be deceptive, and a good communication and mate is far more important. Wonder, super smart, so gifted... Strong and so unique.. Her daughter like so many untalented Hollywoods star kids resorted to a lower level... for her own cheap fame

@@ianfrancis777 I think that was Bds problem, not Bettes. I saw an interview with BD, and she was asked if her mother was anything like Joan Crawford was with her children, and BD said, no, never. Nothing like that. And she gave and showed us love....sometimes, it's the daughter that is jealous of the mother. My mom despised her mother. Yet, I only saw a woman who was very kind, and loved me, and taught me all kinds of things, I was 23 when she passed at 87. I cried at the funeral, my mother just smiled and stared at the casket..

Life is not a scripted movie. Yes, Bette loved her daughter very much, but Bette had a real problem with alcohol to the extent that she had all the nasty traits that go along with being a full fledged alcoholic. It is sad that she had that affliction and that it took its toll on her and her daughter's relationship. If you've ever experienced living with an alcoholic, you will understand that she was not easy to live with.

I don't understand how people/fans could actually be mad at her daughter for writing the book. Just because she shared her experience with her own mother, it doesn't mean it will take anything away from my fond memories of watching her in movies. It's just weird to think people judging that. They both will have to live with the choices they both made in their decisions...but it certainly isn't for me or anyone else to judge.

OMG I used to live Barbara Walters in my younger days. However rewatching a lot of her older interviews u see how condescending and sometime rude. She speaks to women in such a noticeable and different way that she wouldn't dare to pull with men. With the men she often was flirty, sometimes even dense in a way. She strived to even appear dainty and weak for some men. I get even Ms Walters was of a difference generation. I respect her work the same and maybe she became to big of a star in her own right.

She is not disrespectful in her interviews, why do you think she has had the career and interviews she's had and all the claim if she really was as "idiotic" and "sucked" as you say. Something tells me you don't understand how interviews work, ESPECIALLY with Walters. Her interviews have always been the same and she's always treated her guests with the same respect she is given. She gets the big interviews for a reason. If we were talking about her on The View, well, that's a different story...

Are we even watching the same video? Walters interviewed Davis. She asked her questions and Bette didn't hesitate to answer. She didn't treat her any different - the way she is in this interview is exactly the same as the one who did 20/20 last week. There's nothing in this video to piss everyone off, so calm down. Also, telling her to die is a little too far, ESPECIALLY when she wasn't hurtful or rude to Bette Davis.

I just read her last book and Bette Davis' and at the last part of the book she wrote a very direct letter to her daughter, B.D. Hyman. By the way Bette talked about her adopted daughter Margot who was mentally Handicapped is a far cry from the way Bette's oldest daughter describes this Iconic Legend. If Bette Davis was such a horrible mother she would have given Morgot back after finding out that she was mentally handicapped, BUT she DIDN'T. That statement alone shows B.D. Hyman as delusional.
