The fun is seeing the queen of dramatic acting in a fun, silly song. Love it.

Bette Davis' contribution to the USA WW2 effort cannot be overstated. From going on tour to sell War Bonds, to establishing the Hollywood Canteen for Servicemen, she was a patriotic person in the most beautiful sense of the word. She said she often silently wondered how many young men whom she met at the Canteen would never return. She said she literally had to put that out of her mind to be able to function. God Bless You, Bette. you're a great star and a great person - -

It's as if the lyrics were written specifically for Bette. Terrific performance and hilarious lyrics. Warner Bros should have given her more moments like these in her film choices. They demonstrated musical comedy talent one would never otherwise have imagined.

Found out my grandmother sang this in the 1943 Miss America pageant so had to look it up. Cute song! :)

My number one Idol! I love you so much. Thank you for all that you did. Maybe you don't sound like a professional but you made me smile and that is hard for anyone to make me smile after losing my husband of 52 years. Thank you dear sweet Bette. ❤️

tjbedista, I thoroughly enjoyed this rare moment of Bette Davis singing. She was one top actress. Of all the movies I have seen her in, I never knew she did a song routine. Though she clearly was not a singer, she did a great delivery and made it an entertaining number. For me, I think it might even be that because she is such a total dramatic actress, to see her do such a lighthearted song took guts... made me smile and appreciate more her wide breath of talents. Thanks very much! Jim Morrocco

She even hurt her knee during that jitterbug routine, but finished the number. The knee rub she does outside is real.

My dear friend, I was lucky enough to see Ms. Davis in a one-night-only retrospective of her work, back in 1973! (I was twenty). It's good to know that someone as young as you understands what a star truly is.

They asked for a second take on that jitterbug scene. She refused. It DOES look a bit sloppy. But charming.

She actually hurt her knee in the dance with the jitterbug champion. It wasn’t a fake injury. She refused a second take.

I have to admit - I laughed involuntarily. This is obviously a promotional movie to rally Americans at home and pay tribute to the troops; as well it should be. But I thought this would be corny. Not so; her delivery is hilarious, even in 2022.

There is only one Bette Davis. Unique, a true legend. You can't take your eyes off her no matter what she's doing. One of America's greatest.

Such clever lyrics! Written by Rosemary Clooney! I'll never, never fail-ya While you are in Australia Or out in the Aleutians Or off among the Rooshians And flying over Egypt Your heart will never be gypped And when you get to India I'll still be what I've been t'ya I've looked the field over And lo and behold: They're either too young or too old

Not one of Loesser's greatest efforts. I'd hate to see the lyrics that DIDN'T make the cut.

Bette Davis herself commented on the great music and lyrics. I believe it was during a Carson "Tonight Show" interview in '82. The song is perfect.
