Back in the 90s, I attended a taping at Warner's---unfortunately, not this episode. Candice was even more beautiful in person than I anticipated (of course, she was in makeup which makes a difference). Of all the tapings I've been to, the cast of "Murphy" was the most gracious. The entire cast greeted the audience members one-on-one after the taping. Pat Corley stood outside the door of the soundstage and chatted with the audience as we exited. Classy & professional actors!
LOL! "Then who took the Rolls? Oh, well, I'll worry about that later." Bette Midler was way over the top and cruising at 35,000 feet in that cameo. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can turn otherwise cheesy lines into fondue like the Divine Miss M.
Candice & Bette ... who cld ask for any greater entertainers... love bland expression on CB's face & BM - no words just admiration - pure talent! So psed to hear it's on again...
The 90’s really was her Golden Age, Bette was in all this amazing stuff, us 80’s babies know her well, and we thought we discovered her until we found out she’d been around for twenty years prior. 🥰
“Well you’re home now you Freak!” What the hell?! That dog was so tiny! “You are?! Delicious!” Omg! You could do an acting scene with any material from this. “I’ve got more speeds than a Cuisinart!”
Don't know why the reboot referred to Bette Midler's character as Murphy's worst secretary, when she didn't actually work as a secretary? All she did was walked into Murphy's office and asked if it was her office. Bitched about her late husband and handed Jim her little dog to do its business. Still, it was great seeing her on the show.
Hey there! I came across your comment and I just had to reach out and say hi. Your perspective really caught my attention and I would love to get to know you better. Would you be interested in chatting sometime? Looking forward to hearing back from you!
I watched this episode, does somebody have the ending with Murphy singing along with that Aretha Franklin song and Elden suddenly appears and the audience applauds like crazy.
I loved this show but always noticed something about the direction. The office extras never seemed to notice or react to what the main characters were doing. Notice how Bette Midler is acting out and nobody seems to notice her at all.
You've missed the point of the cameo. All of Murphy Browns "assistance" were crazy disasters, each is his or her own way. I expect Ms. Midler did exactly as asked - sailed it way, way, over the top.
