I think what got me in this song is not just the melody, but the lyrics are so deep. Someone once analyzed them, and the three letters took him to his final resting place was AIDs. His health fading was the drugs and using shared needles and/or sex with Little Precious. I just used to sing it without knowing what it meant. Once I knew what it meant, I was blown away.
