@Xpwnxage
@Xpwnxage Год назад
@@whatno3145 It's very likely a case of "you don't know what you've got till it's gone" too. Suddenly he is vanished from her life, dead. And suddenly all of the problems between them, the voids created by isolation and disdain, the amount of fights they had, all of that is meaningless now. It seems so silly now and she likely harbors immense guilt for treating him the way she did, and she would do anything to go back and change the state of their relationship at the time of Howard's disappearance. But of course, she can never go back. It can happen to anyone of us, don't hold resentment against people you love, one day you may horrifically find yourself in Cheryl's position and you will understand the dreadful regret.
@merlosolitani4244
@merlosolitani4244 5 месяцев назад
@@Xpwnxage Basically it is precisely for this reason that I disrespect even more all those people who, once there is no turning back, would like to do so. It's too simple to show yourself good and kind when it's too late and expect no one to point it out because it would be "tactless". Howard's wife, however, remains cold towards her husband, in fact all the words spent on Howard are only to attack on Kim, threatint her of taking everything away from her. I believe that Cheryl is also trying to "get even" with Kim because perhaps she blamed herself (this is my speculation) for her husband's (presumed) drug addiction, and may have had doubts about having isolated him and not supported him in his time of need and that indeed, she left him in the coldest solitude while continuing to take the benefits (remember the breakfast scene where Howard tries to make her something nice and she, without worrying about anything, pours it into the cup, dirtying the table). Maybe, if Howard hadn't died, they would have divorced: again in the breakfast scene you could guess that she has a lover waiting for her in the evening.

This scene makes me so happy tbh. Howard deserves justice and for his good name to be cleared of the horrible smokescreen that Kim set up at his funeral and this helps start the path to exactly that as she was one of the last 2 confirmed people to see him alive. I'm glad that Kim hasn't leapfrogged the events of Howard's murder in an attempt to use mental gymnastics to avoid admitting her responsibility in his death but is instead doing the right thing, telling the truth and accepting all consequences (including possible prosecution) no matter what comes in stark contrast to Jimmy who still refuses to confront his feelings and instead chooses to put up a front either as Saul Goodman or Gene Takavic and run away from them (literally and figuratively). I'm really glad that there's at least a little bit of a positive to his ending with Cheryl knowing the brutal truth about what happened to him on that fateful night and knowing that he was a good, pure man untouched by drugs to the end. This gives me at least a little bit of MUCH needed closure on the character of Howard Hamlin so that he can rest a bit more peacefully and knowing that he wasn't absolutely screwed over in the end, I appreciate the hell out of it.

Both meaning well but not fully appreciating the that their morals are still compromised, despite how they try to justify themselves. Both Mike and Kim get a verbal beating down after this, and while it's questionable Mike had enough goodness left in him to really self-reflect on what Nacho's father was saying, I think Kim really takes it on board. Next thing you know Howard and Lalo bodies would be found under the Super Lab after all this time. It's not impossible. Given Saul connection to Walt and to Gus, it possible the police would search even the Super Lab over again. Even someone buying it at a police auction and digging in the ground should uncover the pair.
@plushiepenguin
@plushiepenguin Год назад
Not impossible but I still think it's unlikely. I think looking for Howard's body would be like searching for needles in haystacks. And there's not enough evidence for them to think " Oh let's check the impounded burned down underground meth lab". As far as the cops are concerned, Howard's body is more likely buried in the desert somewhere. All they have is Kim's statement and that's not really gonna push resources out for one half a decade old cold case that's already considered open and shut.

Kim cleared her conscience, but not for the right reasons. It was to make herself feel better. I think back to her comment about narcissists during the episode with the traffic cone. She's not compassionate nor empathetic. Yes, her tears on the bus are real, but not for Howard's family, reputation, or Legacy, it's about Kim. Perhaps PTSD, but she wouldn't have done it had Jimmy not called her with the FBI likely listening in.

I've always considered the resolution here to be very unsatisfying. And to be clear I don't mean that as a criticism I actually think it really works. The lack of any real catharsis for Howard makes it even more tragic what happened to him. Maybe the cops think to dig up Gus' superlab and find Lalo and Howard it's not outside the realm of possibilities but most likely they aren't going to find Howard's body. Saul is going to prison and his confession to his involvement in Howard's death was likely taken into account but even if it weren't Saul is still going to prison for the rest of his life for everything else he did. Because of that, it being a punishment for what happens to Howard feels like an afterthought. Kim's only ever gonna be punished financially since the DA is likely not gonna prosecute. Her reputation may be ruined but she doesn't live in Albuquerque anymore so it's not like that's worth much. The way it's set up robs you of any catharsis and sense that justice has been done. Howard's body will probably never be found, Jimmy's going to prison but it's mostly for everything else he did for Walt, and Kim may have confessed but it's not like anything substantial is gonna come of it outside of her losing money. Howard's reputation may be restored but it's a cold comfort knowing there's never really gonna be justice. And I think that narratively that works so well

It's funny that she says she doesn't think they'll find Howard's body because they almost certainly are going to find Howard's body - his body is buried beneath a super lab that got burned down by the most famous drug lord in the country. If there's one place where they'll eventually find any bodies buried on the premises, it's beneath that laundromat. Given that they know Howard was killed by the Salamanca crime family, I wouldn't be surprised if they could positively ID him because he'd be one of the people whose dental records they'd run now that they know a Salamanca murdered him.
@sheilacollins5127
@sheilacollins5127 Год назад
I think this is plausible. There would have been no point in them doing a deep search under the lab before; there wasn't an innocent murdered man to search for. Howard was a presumed suicide at sea, "several states away". Now Kim has submitted an affidavit that Howard was murdered, and furthermore murdered by Lalo Salamanca - himself a man wanted for multiple crimes including murder. There's a pretty good incentive to search the premises of that meth lab again now.

At this point everyone on the criminal side directly or indirectly involved in Howard's murder and cover up is either dead, imprisoned or a fugitive.
